old is gold from a 100% footballing point of view

but juve is playing in the 4th best league with no 100% broadcast coverage outside of europe and north america. using the traditional way of gaining revenue (TV deals, jerseys, match day ticket sales) like the BPL clubs is no longer sufficient to get us closer to being the top 5 richest club in the world (we are currently 9th richest in the world and 7th in terms of revenue). BPL clubs play in the best marketed league in the world. huge TV broadcast deals, huge brainwashing back in the late 90s resulting in huge following and huge merchandising revenue

The italian league was the best league from the late 80s till 2000 but neither the clubs nor the league bothered to do any marketing and sales and tapping into the market outside of Italy. Hence, the market segment has been dominated or so called first conquered by the BPL clubs now. so looking at selling jerseys and match day tickets are no longer sufficient. any fan or non fan who thinks that this new logo alone is going to bring us millions would be foolish to think so. this new logo is actually meant to be the face of a series of new juve business ventures. business ventures that include a whole new range of merchandises, the currently existing J medical center, J meuseum, J stadium, shopping mall with 60 shops and the currently in construction JTC (new Juventus Training Center), ; the new Juventus Head Office; the J-Hotel (150 boutique rooms near Turin popular tourist spot. 32 rooms for club related guests and remaining rooms open to public); the ISE International School; the Concept Store and last but not least a Power Station that will service a huge area of the state of turin. There is no choice but to diversify. You BPL clubs's are in a luxurious position whereby an up coming youngster challobah has more fan exposure than our star player miralem pjanic (one of the top midfielder and currently the best free kick taker in europe. he is not so famous not because he is lousy but he is not playing in a league that is broadcast hugely). hence diversification is key for us. time will tell if our diversification proves to be successful or not but efforts are being made rather than sit around and sink into obscurity  wink.gif  biggrin.gif

Luckily J was taken before other company did. There's only 26 alphabets biggrin.gif
For me J is the first step to the future. If SerieA wants to be great again, the other teams should follow Juve's model and does not rely on the traditional revenue making from matchday ticket/jersey/TV any longer. Look at what happened to Fiorentina (few years ago) and Parma, both went bankrupt. Parma even need to sell dressing room bench just to get money. This was the team who sold Buffon at a record price. Inter/Milan might face the same situation, so they quickly get their investors from Indonesia / China.

Dybala's goal was awesome and Pjanic's free-kick too. Hope to see more of them this second half of the season.

By the way, does anyone know what Dybala's goal celebration means?

This new formation is looking good for us but as Noir said, we can't seem to score in the second half which might hurt us against better teams. And with the points gap so tight, we need to do something about it because I think that our closest rivals are picking up the pace and will be a real challenge for the scudetto.
*
nothing to be worried on the attack. Milan is just that good. we can't expect goals galore when facing top teams. Juve too seems to shift gears when leading by 2 goals, even slower when leading by 3. a 1-0 win is better than 4-0 with player injured. we don't have depth like real madrid tongue.gif

Derby D'italia this weekend guys!!

How are you guys feeling for the weekend? Inter beat us last time and they're on a 7 out of 7 wins winning streak. Looks like they too have improved.

We look rejuvenated too after the winter break but when it comes to these matches, it seems as though there is a lot more at play than current form.

Personally, I am quite nervous, as I am with all the big matches. But Juve seem to have found a spark after Allegri switched to the new formation.

Also, I think we are hungrier for a win after the defeat they handed us in the first leg.
*
Last time Intermerda ended Juve 49games unbeaten at J-stadium, so Intermerda perhaps still does not feel the pressure of J-Stadium.
I hope Juve played the new 4-2-3-1 formation, and see how Inter can cope with that biggrin.gif. I hope Khedira is rested for Marchisio, so Pjanic can play advance role a bit, or really defensive Khedira/Marchisio in midfield.

By the Hernanes perhaps is history, no longer in UCL player list, and Leichteiner deservedly back in the list. He can go free agent at the end of the season, but he can still deliver.

sleep early lah, 10pm sleep, 3am you wake up fresh already biggrin.gif

Spot some familiar faces in Cagliari, even lord padoin played.

I can see the struggle, just like Crotone match, the fluidity not there yet. I really miss the excellent passing/positioning when Juve played 3-5-2 biggrin.gif

with this new formation, opposition usually played very defensive & hard pressing when juve got the ball. so juve can't dictate much and have to pass ball around defence only most of the time. inferior opponents should be ok, but with superrior ones, I'm not sure. maybe buffon need to work harder?

last night, khedira & alex sandro was missing most of the time, mandzukic pretty much all over left side of the field. not sure if khedira purposely save energy, but i like marchisio who pretty much tried his best to help the team. that through ball was excellent too.

I guess the team still missing a playmaker. so next year veratti is crucial ... I hope.

next match Saturday morning, 3.45am (Friday night). save your calendar ...

I really enjoyed the Porto-Juve match, and I'm really not sure if Porto played at their full strength. Juve was fluid, perhaps everyone was giving their best, except maybe Buffon who were not tested, and Mandzukic, who have less to do when Sandro/Khedira was beasting on the left.

I was worried if Max opt to field Benatia/Rugani as CBs, behold, Barza/Chiello were available biggrin.gif. Except no Bonucci, Juve were playing with almost first 11, and it worked well.

Can't wait for the 2nd leg. We can go all the way to the final.

Yeah, Napoli was very dangerous at first half. 2nd half Juve step up and control. However I sense too much simulation ... really not healthy to the team. Some referee might bought it, others might just ignore even on real cases

anyway good outing to me ...

I honestly think juve step down a gear or two. There's no need to panic like barca, just defend the 2 goal lead.

however, recalling the 1999 semi final against mighty ManU, it might backfire some time. however this porto team is not ManU strong, so a relaxed approach is acceptable. stay away from injuries ...

Seeing Max so calm means Juve was just flexing defensive muscle, probably save energy for the next Coppa match. Beside, the hostile Naple atmosphere probably will affect the team a bit. It's good to draw and stay calm for the next match. Just let the Naples stay calm a bit and have good 2nd match, where juve should be all out and show their true face.

Either the above, or Napoli had become better than last year biggrin.gif ... probably they are worthy of UCL challenge.

Not sure, but prize for coppa could be around 3-4mil, double that with TV rights and tickets. still may not cover puchase of a good player, but should be enough to cover players wage for some time. napoli should field best 11 and not let this $$$ slip through.

Indeed I think Juve played 'just enough' to get through, focus just on defence since Barca is extremely good at attacking.

Just like we did in QF 2003, or Intermerda did during mourinho tenure, hit them on counter attack.

We really need those 'out-from-nothing' goals, as it's quite hard to get team-setup goals against this big boys.

I was surprised by Alves intencity before his yellow card, he should be calmer just like he did after his booking. To contain neymar + iniesta is no slouch either.

no complain on alex sandro/chiello too. messi could not make his runs, suarez just got few shots biggrin.gif

few would loud Pjanic, but I think he did his job well against Barca midfield, covering until no gas left and replaced by inexperience Rincon. Iniesta was quite inefective, until Gomez was in, he was made to work hard.

No complain on forwads too. I agree 4th goal should stood, plus the unnecessary bookings. but those things happen when players tried too hard and deemed simulation. anyway at least no one can complain Juve got help from referree tongue.gif in UCL too ..

first newborn @McF7y? Congatulations and good luck being a father. My wife would sometimes accompany me during Juve games if she is too tired with the kids.

I really hope Dybala would recover, or be on the bench unless needed. Cuadrado/Dybala/Higuan really should not played 2nd half during Pescara game. Probably Max just want to entertain away fans. Juve stepped down a gear anyway.

watching the tie between Real & Bayern last night, i felt some mix feeling to be honest

Bayern was hard done by esp after that bs second yellow to Vidal, and then all of em collapse after Cristiano made it 2-2

but on the other hand, i still remember Bayern fans giving us similar treatment when we're hard done by the ref during the 2nd leg in Munich..and gotta watch our team collapse after Thiago's goal, what made it more bitter was that Coman put the sword through Juve heart and celebrated it like giving a gesture towards Juve management face's

as for Vidal, he said he left Juve to win UCL, and its 2nd season and counting...

but enough about Bayern, we have our massive tie tonight. What i hope from this game, is that the officials didn't effect the outcome and whoever comes out between BArca-Juve, will be deserving of semi-final spot

I just saw the RM offside goals tongue.gif ... hopefully Juve will not do same mistake, and ref is kinder too

what a defensive match vs Barca. everyone did well, so barca could not get that many shots on goal tongue.gif. Remuntada next year Barca!

I don't have preference on next opponent. just want to avoid Monaco. They are hitting goals better than Napoli and this can be bad to our ageing defence.

RM or Atletico is preferred, but both Zidane & Simeoni played serieA before and they should be well aware of Juve capabilities and weaknesses. If Juve play RM or Atleti, hope it will be home game first, while if play against Monaco, hope it'll be away game first. This very much suite Allegri style biggrin.gif

i woundnt take for granted but if we can perform like how we performed vs barca over the two legs then we sure have a higher chance

*
finals are very different game, compare to elimination which are 2 legs.
There need to be balance of defence and attack. vs Barca it's mostly defence.
Barca/RealMadrid recent UCL dominations was due to their masterclass attacks + midfield.

Juve lost countless quaters/semis/finals that due to inadeqaute attacking unit. The opponent is just better at getting the goals.
I really hope Dybala emergence + Higuan + Cuadrado can cary it until finals. If they do, we could get good UCL run for 2-3 years, provided defence is there.

Bonucci probably saying after his "1st" goal was disallowed, "Well, u wanna canceled my legit goal? No problem,  I'll do one better", and he did  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

yes, Monaco stats shows it all, They're the 2nd highest top scorer in Europe top 5 league. And already score 20 UCL goals

1. Barcelona (94 goals)
2. Monaco (92 goals)
3. Real Madrid (84 goals)
4. Napoli (77 goals)
5. Bayern (73 goals)

but, compliment to our team, as u said...after that lost vs Fiorentina (our worst performance along with 3-1 lost to Genoa), the team has shown a "hunger" after that..for both league and UCL...
and lets not forget the Coppa Italia too. As Juve already shown they are well-equipped to play a offensive oriented team so as much as i respected Monaco, i'm confident if Juve can handle
the likes of MSN, they probably can, against the likes of Mbappe,Falcao,Bernardo Silva
*
watched the last genoa game for 20+ mins, then eyes sore already ... hehehe. just thought it would be another walk in the park.

Juve is not high scoring team. it's mostly due to tendency to slow down after 2nd/3rd goal, then it's another practice session and avoid injuries/unnecessary card. exception is of course the Juve-Barca game.

I prefer the stay healthy approach compared to high scoring games. Khedira normally missed quite number of games stayed healthy this term. Seems no need for Rincon tongue.gif, or Marchisio can rest.

If there is offer for Marchisio, I beleived he will be sold. he is mostly used in 3-5-2. If he is OK being second fiddle then probably he will stay, but I highly doubt that.
