Determine genuine BB Passport

I bought it from a mobile phone shop that claims it is original for RM1960. The box packaging and the warranty looks genuine however when I started charging with the phone off, it was not able to charge. When I charge with another micro usb cable it works.
Have i been conned on purchasing a recon unit? Is there such thing as a fake BlackBerry Passport? |
