Unfortunately, TM.net is right to criticise your posts. nwk, the amount of venom and bile you're spewing here isn't helping. You're pissed; fine, so am I. But I'm not going around screaming left, right and centre about it and am instead finding ways to get around the problem without having to rely on the ever-so-unreliable tech support at Streamyx.

Seriously, you're not helping.

Anyone notice the top half of the full page ad Streamyx put out in yesterday's (18/12/2006) edition of Computimes in the New Straits Times? Looks like they're basically announcing that they are really throttling high-bandwidth connections. No real new information for anyone on this thread in that ad, but the funny thing is they said that they're not punishing people who use high bandwidth.

I've scanned the advert I mentioned and it is here: http://tinyurl.com/yamzsl

i don't buy NST so i didn't see the tmnut advert, but from your scan, i see they admit that they are throttling. they should have annouced this sooner and on their websites and on all newspapers, not just NST. they also contradicted themselves with this article when they sold us their so called "unlimited" packages. i wonder if they are opening themselves to countless lawsuits by admitting they are throttling our lines?

I don't think they are. After all, they're basically announcing that throttling is considered their "best effort" to maximise bandwidth availability as opposed to, you know, admitting that the network can't handle Internet applications that is beyond "normal Internet usage" - some of which are applications that they themselves have been promoting with their advertising emphasis on high-speed multimedia on broadband - and getting more bandwidth or reworking the network to cope. That "best effort" clause is their biggest trump card; it basically allows them to say that anything they do is good enough and should be accepted, even if there are better alternatives that would actually solve the problem instead of shoving it under the carpet.
