Tips to Survive Major Steam Sales

Rule #1:
From now until the LAST DAY of the sale, if a game is on sale as a daily deal or flash deal, you can buy it. If it is only "on sale" through the entire sale, pass. Do not buy. Save your money (you may need it).

Rule #2:
Check each day for the daily deals, and monitor flash deals. As games come up that you want, you can get them. Just continue to exercise self control for games that are not a daily/flash deal.

Rule #3:
You can purchase the large packs, such as the THQ pack or Square-Enix/Eidos pack at any time if you wish. It is extremely unlikely that those bundles will be discounted any further, even though individual games in those packs may become daily deals. If you want a bundle, go for it. Lots of games, excellent price.

Rule #4:
On the LAST DAY of the sale, Steam traditionally makes its daily deals an encore of the most popular daily deals from the previous days. Go nuts. Buy everything you wanted. Other games are almost never on the daily deals during the last day, at this point, it is safe to buy anything else you've been waiting on.

As far as I know, all the early access games I had, they all increase price after release. The cheap price is only for early access.

Steam is usually cheaper for most games.

I still prefer Age of Wonders 3.

Amplitude is a good developer but I never really liked all 3 of their games(Endless Legend, Endless Space and Dungeon of Endless). The way they approach combat feels really odd, it is like they do not want you to have direct control on your units while having some really strange rules around them.

I think its worth it if you want a very combat heavy turned based strategy. The empire building had been improved but I think it is still quite lackluster. The combat on the other hand, I think it is the appeal of AoW3 as it can be very tactical and strategic at times. The setting is pretty interesting too as different races has different strength and weaknesses, like the humans have your typical horse riding cavalry but the new Frostlings has their cavalry riding elephants to war that much tougher and quite pricey. There are some things I did not enjoy like the neutral creeps keep attacking you way too frequently while the new cosmic events adds some interesting boss fights, like the March of the Dire Penguins where you have an army of evil penguins invading your cities. As a whole, I think it is a damn good turn based strategy if you want a combat heavy one that feels like a mixture of XCOM and Civ in some ways.

The base game, IMO, it is enough for someone who isnt sure whether he/she will like the game but you'll miss out some of its intriguing content. The expansions did expand the game a lot with interesting content which the base game might be lacking.

The campaign sucks in my opinion. I mainly play the random maps which is much more fun.

Valve isnt much different from EA these days where the whole paid mods nonsense for Skyrim had showed that they can as greedy and even out of touch as EA.

Gabe is evidently disconnected from what people want while avoiding all the hard questions. With Steam's dominant position with almost full monopoly on PC, I fear the future of PC gaming will not be bright.

You either die as a hero or live long enough to see yourself becoming another EA.

I am really tempted to get Dirt Rally. Looks like its the rally game that I wanted all these while with much longer rally tracks.

Hopefully they will add some new cars as they pretty much port whatever that was in Dirt 3 to Dirt Rally. And also more tracks as I really want Malaysia to be in it too.

Looks like what they did with more sim inspired Grid Autosport worked at the end.

There is a rumor saying that they are working on a touring car game, I do hope that will be something along the lines of Grid Autosport's touring cars that the best part of the game. Please get the official BTCC license.

I'll be getting Dirt Rally on this Friday. Looks pretty good so far.

Looks like its Black Ops 2 for me if you want a newer Cod. Treyarch seemed to care about PC much more than anyone else in cod games rotation.

Advanced Warfare is good fun but the netcode is awful to the point the community died.

It is $20 in the US so yea, the price seemed alright to me.

Based on insider information, AMD dropped the ball this time. The developers had sent more than 20 codes of the Gold version of pCARS to AMD prior to release last and AMD was aware of the problems that will arise on release but AMD did nothing till the game is out with angry AMD users. The last time AMD contacted the developers was October 2014 so they probably also dont know anything about the delays.

pCARS uses nVidia gameworks but the specific features such as water spray and marbles that needs PhysX are canned sometime last year. Probably only the renderer has gameworks files but then, no AMD owner complained about poor performance all the while until release. For the past 4 years, it was either everyone run the game smoothly or everyone suffers poor fps.

There should be a new pCARS ready driver coming out soon while there is a modded windows 10 driver for Windows 7 and 8 that fixed the problem.

The PS4 build is quite good but the Xbox build is also terrible. Dont know whats wrong with the Xbox preload.

There won't be a GOTY edition any time soon. CoH2 is only on its 3rd year out if 5. Unless you want to wait that long.

There is also more DLC coming, like new British factions.

If you are talking about Heroes of the Storm, do spend some money on boosters.

It will make the grind less painful and boosters are pretty cheap now with 50% discount.

This is why we can't have nice things when people are abusing it in almost every way. Sigh.

Feel like buying Metro Redux Pack.

Dont buy that game. It is probably the worst game I ever played in 2014.

I think the servers are overloaded. I am using a 20mbps line and I still cant get in.

Looks like I'll probably never going to buy GTAV. Rockstar is a bunch of greedy arses.
