hey guys, since my hyundai accent has already finished its 2 years warranty period.. i'd like to have it serviced elsewhere rather than at the authorized service centre..

do you guys know any good, trustable and reasonably priced workshops that could perform the average service work?

btw alkt, how much did you buy the Q8 oil previously? fully synthetic or semi-synthetic? any recommended brand of fluids for automatic transmissions?

well, imo if warranty period for the car is over i dun really see why should return to authorized service centre to perform the necessary servicing because you can still get the exact same thing done outside for less. Only peace of mind is that all the parts used by the authorized service centre are original parts.

my accent's 2year warranty was over in June 2006 and i just serviced it today at KS Power Sdn. Bhd. at Sunway for the due 20,000km servicing. I just serviced according to the service manual except that i additional changed the auto-trans oil as well cuz the fluid looks brownish and that it's past 2 years without change (service manual recommended the change at 40,000km sweat.gif).

I don't really think that would be the matter especially if you are trading in to dealers. Even if selling directly owner-to-owner, as long as there's proof of regular services performed on the car, that would be good enough.

since it's still under warranty, you might as well continue servicing at the authorized service centre just for the sake of claiming for parts that are defective (eg. disc rotors, abs, etc) ..

since my accent finish its 2 years warranty.. i'll have to pay for parts and labour even if i service with the service centre, so i might as well do it outside for better parts (engine oil, etc)..

how to proof service records? keep all your receipts and make a note at the back with the mileage of servicing.. organize them properly in a file so that you can show it to your potential buyer smile.gif

you need a reliable car, than a cheap car.. cuz if the car keeps breaking down and require replacement of parts or whatnot.. you'll be wasting all your time sending the car to the workshop for repairs..

cheers! smile.gif
