Hmm? Guess you're the lucky one then..I only have Sonic. I read from a forum that it is possible to request one from Dell, wondering if it applies to Malaysia as well.

Umm, so anyone has any ideas with the reformatting question? Is it possible to create a partition from C drive without reformatting the hard drive? I guess I could live with all the Dell junkware but I just want a separate partition to store other documents and data.

Actually I did, I also installed Partition magic..however when I selected 'create partition' this error message popped up- "The selected disk contains one or more partitions that cannot be moved." The only options available are resize and format I think. So do I select resize? Will it wipe out everything installed on the C drive? Perhaps you could elaborate a little more on that, sorry I'm quite a noob on all these.

Actually I prefer to partition my HDD with a freshly formatted HDD, it's more stable.

Normally I partition during the windows installation.

You can partition from C drive without formatting the hard drive. Try partition magic, partition expert, etc.

Who said cannot? I did that when I got my 6400. After 2 days later, format and create only 2 partition, del all dell's partition.

Of course not, it doesn't violate any warranty. It's up to you to keep it or not.

Mine's gone. Couldn't reinstall it as it was supposed to be. cry.gif

Alright, I think I'll post up at Technical support instead, thanks smile.gif Well I know starting fresh without all of Dell's junk is probably the best option to boost speed and all but I'm usually cautious with these stuff because I'm screwed if something goes wrong (and it happens quite often). Then again the best way to learn is of course by trial and error but I'm a little uncomfortable delving into a sea of nowhere especially when I'm no pro in these stuff.

Well if only Dell wouldn't charge $30 upon request of partitioning then I wouldn't have so much trouble. Installing windows altogether from scratch do mean reformatting right?

Check and see any background apps running and eat the resources. Try do some cleaning, checking, defragment, etc and see the problem still there or not.
