Hey guys, so I watched some youtube reviews, and they click the button to switch on the wifi then only can connect to phone. So my question is the yi camera connect to phone using wifi or wifi direct ?

so.. it uses wifi direct & wifi

I see....so if didn't connect to the phone, the yicam cannot take photo ? Yicam can only take photos / videos if connected to phone, correct ?

Sorry guys. been very busy of late and seldom browse forum.
If you guys have anything that you wish to post at first post tag me (worse case scenario you guys can open your own thread and I'll shut this down. Reason I opened thread in first place was cuz I have owned one unit and have not seen a similar thread about the camera).

PS: I'm not and have never been a long term android user so I'm not sure what firmware u guys are referring to.

All I know is for Android users, you'll have to download the official app (by which updates you can find yourselves in the Play Store) and you're all set. If that isn't easy enough I don't know what is.

The price is absurd. I got mine for 5 ringgit (yes I know I'm in China and everything here is cheap) but for just a thin piece of rubber, RM18?!

Dude. This is apk. Not firmware. For firmware, ur dedicated app will give update notications if there is new one, and update via online.

And i got it from miui forum. 😊
