gunpla in japan memang cheap.
bringing them boxes back is another matter altogether and...

... buying gunpla when in japan would be my last, absolute last priority.
*
I sapu the GFT and 7-11 kits instead tongue.gif

QUOTE(TheEvilMan @ Jun 26 2015, 03:56 PM)
yea, the price and the poseability, if it's within 300 range maybe a yes but almost hitting 400 is too much for me
*
Go HK buy whistling.gif whistling.gif

QUOTE(heally82 @ Jun 26 2015, 04:01 PM)
my estimation pg banshee norn here easily rm800 and above...

they really think we are brainless...
*
22k yen, max rm700
If you pre-order, should be no problem
If wait until release and stock low, local sellers will take advantage and bump up the price, like with PG Unicorn =_=

hehe you forgot the main money sucker here, 22kyen shud be around 660rm but when you try to ship something pg size its gonna be easily 100rm over

dun forget those vampires that sit at airport everyday lookin for big boxes to further suck our blood, rm660 times any amount of percentage is another sucker there...

thats why until now i haven order pg from japan direct even most stores show no stock la...
*
Pre-order with local sellers la I mean
When PG Unicorn pre-orders opened, the lowest I've seen is 590, others more or less 650 (excluding those cutthroat sellers )

heh but cant find cheap from local, china, and japan always out of stock.

my thai friend cant find these from tokyo last trip, maybe some have in osaka...

that, for me its hot. i am determined when talking about avoid kena pancong.
*
The two 2 items aren't hot, that's your problem actually
Bandai reproduce whichever kits that are in demand
Example, the least popular MG ever imo, the Hi-Zack, Bandai never reproduce it for ageeeesssss, because no point when nobody wants it

There's no import duty, only 6% GST.

It is lower than previous sales tax which was 10%.
*
Wrong, still have import tax, then add in GST

Gunpla is classified under toys and model kits, with the HS code header of 9503.

There's no import duty under these headings, there's only GST of 6%.
*
They don't tax under that la
And you can ask how many of us kena double tax after GST implemented

QUOTE(:3mushy:3 @ Jun 26 2015, 07:59 PM)
That still doesn't invalidate that the actual chargeable fee is only the GST. It's up to you to argue with the Customs and if you really know the stuffs, it's very clear cut.

If they ask to use other HS code, ask them and show which code they want to use, and you can argue from there.

That's why you must ask the seller to print the HS code on the invoice, I've only had to pay sales tax (before GST) when purchasing PG 00R.
*
Wow, I didn't know
Well, not like I got taxed before tongue.gif *touchwood*
Need clarification from those who got double taxed

Nope I don't do transparent, can't do water slide decals, can't custom paint, can't panel lining, heck even when try to mod the kit to improve articulation also like hell. So I never go for transparent aside from cut throat price.
*
You are getting people wrong again
What he meant is transparent kits are IMPOSSIBLE to replicate with any amount of modelling skills at all
It only can be achieved at the injection molding process
Hence it's quite worthy for some to pay the extra costs for getting transparent kits

QUOTE(heally82 @ Jun 27 2015, 10:04 AM)
Also love gunpla doesn't mean you pay high on it, love is not bout money doesn't it?
*
Not stupidly paying high for it, but not paying higher than retail
And retail price here means the yen price multiply roughly 0.03-0.031, then add about 10%
So a 3000yen kit, we expect the maximum price here is RM110, we will not buy if price exceeds that
Some kits are like forever won't have promo/offer, so we don't expect finding it selling waaaay below the retail price

QUOTE(advocado @ Jun 30 2015, 12:44 PM)
any cheap way to prime? Mr.Hobby cans too expensive, bottle ones ain't cheap either.

i'm using Mr.DIY Clear for priming since i just want it to make the paint stick, but they aren't smooth like Mr.Hobby 1000 and need to be careful not to overspray since it's a top coat.

Ace hardware sells some bigger cans of primer but still rm50 per can.

Mr.Hobby cans are really small for the price they asking.
*
get primer spraycans from hardware stores, or your favourite shop, some Mr. DIY shops have
I mean those cheap spraycan brands, not those imported ones in ACE

QUOTE(heally82 @ Jul 1 2015, 12:46 PM)
hehe both you can get it for under rm300 now if you want, but from the price you already know where it came from la...
*
both Sazabi and Sinanju < RM300
or
Sazabi/Sinanju < RM300

please make it clear

I just wonder, anyone use the water decals for the MG Sinanju gold trims??
how to make sure anything is in place, since they're rather long and thin  icon_question.gif
*
all I can say is you need skills and experience, plus patience
done correctly, the waterslides can look perfect, however, the gold quality of the waterslides seriously is not worth the effort and time
like what Admiral said, simple gold marker could do the job

QUOTE(nazrul90 @ Jul 1 2015, 09:20 PM)
seriously no screw?
if no screw way better than action base 1 because it can become loose for the stand joint that use screw
and I still hoping for action base that use c-type joint on torso rather than poke/clip type on the crotch
*
yupe biggrin.gif

If the marker paint already dry on the part, are we still able to remove it with thinner?
I might redo some parts. Eyesore looking at it.

One really bad tht i encountered, i broke the side leg thruster piece joint. Dayum
*
if you're only painting the gold lining on bare plastic, just use an art knife to scrape off the excess icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(TheEvilMan @ Jul 2 2015, 12:10 PM)
Where do u usually shop for hobby tools like spray can, marker, cutter etc in local physical stores
so far i see some in Times Machine but need a few more alternatives
*
Tamiya Undergroundz @ 1 Utama
ICW @ Sunway Mas
MyOtaku @ Sri Rampai

there are other hobby shops that cater to non-gunplas which also sell paints and stuffs, but I do not not know much about them, can try asking in other threads

not sure what base is the gundam marker but as far as i know its oil based, so theoretically you can use gold markers to paint it as undercoat and use acrylic based black paint to hand brush as top coat, finally use acrylic thinner to remove.

again strongly advise you to watch a few youtube videos on reverse wash to get an idea how it works... usually most videos use air brush but you can refer it too...
*
the reason why modellers use enamel as the second layer for reverse wash because acrylic thinner is able wipe away lacquer/oil based paints too
enamel thinner also can wipe away both acrylic and lacquer paints, so use zippo fluid is the answer

hm... just saw the PG banshee info from Gunjap, it says will reuse Unicorn's LED unit with revised user manual. But don't the color are different? The LED set for Unicron emits blue-purple-ish light, but Banshee need it white or yellow?
*
that LED light is actually UV light, and UV light will work on any colour as long the material has phosphor

And then PG Sazabi  whistling.gif  (Honestly the MG Ver.KA Sazabi is kinda close to PG in terms of details... does Bandai wanna make Zaku II the one and only PG bad guy?)
*
if Bandai ever want to go for another bad guy PG, Sinanju would be more feasible
not only it's more popular now, physically it's easier to make one of Sinanju than Sazabi lol

I have a question regarding water decals
I notice somwtime it doesnt stick well even after uaing setter, and I notice theres a bit of dust (from topcoat) which might be the case. Is it advisable to rub it clean with a dam cloth before I put on decals?  It only happen like 1 out of 20 decals
*
How did you apply? Tell step by step, then maybe can pinpoint where's the fault

QUOTE(TheEvilMan @ Jul 9 2015, 12:04 PM)
Anyway i can't seem to find LR41 battery for the LED unit, went to homefix, mrdiy, jusco, tesco but none of them have it

*
Did you try daiso?

Oh, Jalan Pasar 100% got brows.gif

1st I dip the decal to water until it is just able to slide, not too long until its completely lossen, then I apply a layer of setter, put the decals on, and remove the excess with q tip, usually it will stick properly but only at some area it does not stick n I need to apply more setter to ensure the adehsiveness is enough
*
Probably due to some oil residue on the plastic from the injection-molding process, next time you might wanna wash your runners with soap water before start building
