For filing, i just use the RM5 diamond file set from Daisho. XP
*
lol same here, but i have tried all below:

daiso filing set
korean file stones #2000, #1500 and #800
korean sand paper #2000, #1500 and #800
china file

all have failed me so far still leave scratch marks, and when i did remove them overall roundness gone.

so these tools require hard practice to control with extreme patience and dont mention about craft knife (i must admit i'm not sifu so many cases overcut)

so far the ideal case would be

nip with godhand/G temple gt02/tamiya nippers and file with bmc coarse and fine/wave file

the rest is just touch up with #2000 sandpaper for later air brush or #3000 for straight builds.

i dont have the time to file it slowly so seriously considering godhand plus wave file...

for now i'm using these to get the job done but its time consuming to do all the parts to file it start from #800,#1000,#1500,#2000,#2500 and finally use nail polish sponge to give the shine. so imagine i do this on a pg...

I was interested in using file at first, but then I found out I'm bad at it. sad.gif So, I just use knife.
*
I'm quite the opposite often over cut using knife when trying to remove stress mark. File or sandpaper is the best way for me.

Nu is awesome, it gives the wow factor more than the Unicorn, but prepare to pull your hair out when posing the funnels on its back.

Totally agreed, phenex require extra works to cover nub marks, wrong kind of gold will look ugly. Also phenex have weight issue strictly pose with stand only like mg freedom.

Still, looks impressive on your collection with 1 pose only.

rclxm9.gif lol actually what he said just remind me of one of the john oliver shows saying that when there's someone shit on your table, the size of that shit is not the issue, the action shitting is.

i guess same thing applies here. laugh.gif

im only angry that when japan can sell 40% even 50% off the official price while in malaysia they're exactly the opposite.

really curious of those guys buying like crazy during exhibition blink.gif rclxub.gif , because i have been on of them buying rm250 for mg freedom back in the years and the feeling is not good even now. vmad.gif

pirate scheme = glossy black, gold, yellow color
weathering scheme = dark red, greyish blue, greyish yellow, and light grey
bling bling scheme = just purely gold with different shades of gold
heavy metal scheme = glossy black top with pearl, matt grey metal and gun metal black

add detailing just like ver.ka panel lining

or add on weapon like the thunderbolt series...

This is business 101, you know right? The only places in Japan that sells 30% off, are large retail stores, like Joshin, Yodobashi, Biccamera, etc.. They bring in large volume, so they get larger distributor price. Even then larger gundam like PG and 1:48 only gets 20% off.. The only times they sell for 40% or 50% are for old stocks and slow moving stocks.. Smaller shops that sells toys and plamo usually sells them at official prices indicated at the barcode on the box. I've seen boxes on display that had almost turned white, but still going for official price at those kind of stores.

Now for foreign distributor like litt tak, they have to cover extra shipping costs (not cheap, even by sea), extra taxes, etc.. even though they get distributor prices too.. and they sell it to retail outlets like aeon and toys'r'us who then proceeds to further jacks up the price. Again, business 101. Everybody needs to make money, or else if you're only gonna break even, why bother doing business in the 1st place? That's why you can see at litt tak warehouse sale, at least their pricing is closer to the official price as marked on the barcode..
*
the so called business 101 doesnt apply on china and hong kong market? i go direct purchase from china, hong kong and even japan by flight courier still cheaper than the so called warehouse sale (yes, i did go through last year litt tak warehouse sale)

this so called business 101 is making the gunpla culture in asean shrinking pace like global warming at Antarctic...

there is Bandai sub division in Hong Kong, so they may take stocks from there... so thats why Hong Kong people can buy P-Bandai stuff as well(http://p-bandai.hk/)
while Malaysia Distributor Litt Tak take stocks direct from Bandai Japan, which is expensive
not only Malaysia and SEA, this apply to western countries such as America and Europe

easy to say, its not cheap to import gunpla here due to many things mainly the costs for delivery and tax
if Bandai make sub division in Malaysia, things may be cheap
*
well if thats the case its goin to be buying from jpn, china or local shop that also direct jpn purchase for now until the officials figure something that can pull me back from it official price...

makes me wonder if local model shops can go direct purchase from jpn n sell cheaper than msia official seller whats the point of having official seller in the 1st place? food for thought...

china, hk, japan, their market is so much larger then anywhere else in the world, sellers can afford higher risk by buying bulk in tons more then seller of other region.

more bulk = less price for each single item.

put urself in the shoes as local sellers, would u stock up 1000boxes at a time? Ur stock may not move as fast n so what will happen to those unsold stock by the time the next stock arrives? Every month new model is release, u can sustain buying at such a high volume while selling not even half of it at the end of every month? Thats a genius business model, if u plan to bankrupt.
*
Understood, means that a fact that we can only buy cheap by buying from china, japan and hong kong?

unless u stay at those country or u hunting for rare stuff that otherwise unavailable locally, buying from cn/jp/hk makes no different then buying locally.

factor in the time, the hassle, the kastam, the tax, the postage, u end up paying more or less the same as u buy from local so why bother? Sure some local seller jack up prices, so dont buy from them then. Search around n u can find plenty that sells at fair n affordable prices.
*
totally agreed, but this gunpla market is gettin competitive by the minute, just knew from my thai fren he can get hyaku shiki 2.0 in thai for just rm158 not sure hes bluffin me or not...

Also i really wanted to support the official seller but their value added services so limited that i cant find an excuse to buy from them...

can always give discount if i buy more of some goodies to give away or privileged pre-order services. else makes me look like a fool when buying from their exhibition...

I believe heally is talking about overpriced, not expensive. This hobby is expensive, yes. But one shouldn't be overcharged. I believe that's the point.

Heally,
The thing about official distributors is that they are huge. They need to stockpile, there is storage/warehouse cost.

Take gundam.my(not an official distributor) for example, their prices comparatively speaking is more expensive than local hobby shops. But i can understand the reason behind is because they need to store and it's a bigger operation (more employees, stocks going obsolete) comparatively. So i feel i am reasonably charged if i were to buy from them.

If you want cheaper products, then you got to act fast in local hobby shops before it goes out of stock. I believe everything is like this, high risk, high reward, low risk, low reward.
*
you totally get me there, im the one that always failed to get the local good stuff and go for oversea so lost my confidence locally already...

i do often check local online stores but still too slow compared to buying japan direct for the same price including shipping, thats my own experience.

lets ignore the official distributor, everyone in this thread aware the price there is not cheap
but do he even try to buy local as alternative?
in his earlier post, he just aware so many local shop selling at good price then why bother buy oversea which is not much different? unless he aim for rare kit which is hard to find here

its for HK resident only so need HK address to get buy
*
you are right, just got my hyaku shiki 2.0 yesterday direct from japan include shipping for rm220. another batch of msg weapon skull massacre and 2pcs of exceed binder for rm145 include shipping

unless you have other fast and cheaper source locally you can recommend me else still think buying jpn direct is a prefer choice for me

of course im always watchin local stores for good deals too... but wonder goin onot to litt tak warehouse sale this yr... kinda waste of time...

Ah I see, I didn't see so long back of the thread, my bad. No hard feelings. =D
Usually it'll take two weeks (That's the fastest I've seen) for local hobby shops to get models after it has been released. Have to wait lor, no choice. I think of it as give me time to save money XD. If you want it fast, then I suggest you avoid PO-ing with G-Wing and Gundam.my (They take a lot longer than other local hobby shops).

Which website do you go to? I am really curious o.0? I've never found a website that can offer me the same price (direct + shipping) with local pricing? Unless you get in bulks @.@

@jloi

Crux has some ridiculously cheap price for some products, but some products can be more expensive. Just do some research =D.
*
got mine from japan from amiami aiming for mandrake too now for older kits, using sal shipment, i also saw crux have some kit with good price too gonna try it out soon...

I wonder why you want so fast though? 2 week is short enough
if you kind of collecting boxes without assembling aka backlog thats kinda pointless, better get it here

GA,Time Machine have faster stocks arrive
while Gwing is cheaper when you preorder but slower like 1month due to they using ship way to get here
*
well when both local and overseas price is comparable, the speed will taken into consideration...

also if i use slower ship way from japan gonna be even cheaper...

Gwing pre-order price for the Hyaku Shiki is rm210. I am not sure how much will the shipping cost be. But, the PO price is rm30 cheaper.

For me, if you like a certain kit, it is better to pre-order. since the price will be cheaper than once the item arrive here.

I normally search at gwing, gundam.my or jshobby.

If hlj or hobby search has a very large discount, maybe 40% or above, then can buy gundam from there to make the overall cost worth it.
That's why need to monitor for sales on these sites smile.gif

gwing normally have EOY sale to clear stock. last time they were selling miss sazabi for rm50, gm sniper k9 for rm40.
*
true got my hyakushiki a bit higher price because air courrier cost me around rm60, so if use ship way will be a lot cheaper...

usually i source locally 1st but i never do pre-order online, just for the rg red frame is my 1st time on amiami too.

so for local purchase i think will go for older more reasonable price kits but most of my wish list at local market cant give the right price, such as

mg gp02a, mg perfect gundam, mg banshee and a few more. so still in search for a better bargain...
