Let say,

top up RM30 + 6% gst = RM31.80

top up is always meant for telco prepaid call plan (voice call/sms) validity use.

then if user subscribe mobile internet plan within it , let say RM20 for 1 month 500MB internet plan.

will telco charge RM20 + 6% gst = RM21.20 ??? shocking.gif shakehead.gif rclxub.gif doh.gif blink.gif

then do telco charge 6% if users subscribe mobile internet plan in their prepaid account?

it consider another product already

let say u-mobile mobile internet plan RM30 1.5GB, will they deduct RM31.80 from credit available because of gst?

If I were custom officer I would say no lah. It can be considered top up is to purchase the service. Then subsequent mobile internet is merely to decide how the service is to be delivered, not an actual purchase.

But I am not custom officer, so this is purely private opinion.

why switching? the circular mentioned can not charge addtional gst 6% as it just replacing service tax. telco absorbing service tax from last time till now.

for me, i won't park important phone number to MVNO bcoz of bad track record of MVNO in malaysia, it can suddenly say wanna close business or wanna cut off that business division from group business.... i rather put all at main telco only, safe and hassle free.

got some hints here, but based on Astro Njoi prepaid scenario:

Njoi top-up card value unchanged after 1/4, buyer pay same price for top up coupon. RM5, RM10, RM20 ...

but once wanna subscribe to any Njoi prepaid channel, 6% GST is imposed on channel package.

e.g.
(before 1/4) Njoi sport pack 30days: RM20. 1 top up coupon RM20 will do.

(after 1/4) Njoi sport pack 30 days: RM20 + 6% = RM21.20. Need top up RM20 + RM5 coupon in order to buy this package.
