Ok, so I think my current GTX560ti sorta died on me, my computer screens went glittery/glitchy and BSOD appeared during start up...

Sending my faulty GPU for repair isn't recommended by my friends right? So I'm thinking of the GTX970? I do a bit of gaming on dota2/CSGO mainly, and work on Premiere and Resolve for video editing. Which 970 is the best value to performance or is recommended? Or should I be looking at something else that's better or value for performance?

And would it be ok for the current PSU I'm using now, or I need to change my PSU too in order to run the 970/something similar?

Thanks... Idk if it's relevant, but let's say my budget is 1.3-1.5k? Maybe? (For the gpu la)

Like I suggested, its either now or never (year end).

The launching of GST next month will jack up the price. Not to forget the ever increasing USD to MYR exchange rate, things don't seem to getting cheaper in near future.

The only reason to hold on the purchase of 970 is speculating how powerful and what price will AMD's R9 390(x) be, which may or may not affect the price of GTX970. But again since your current card is already faulty, I doubt you can wait for that long (earliest is after June).

As for models, we usually don't recommend any particular brands/models. The one with lower price and longer/better warranty usually get our votes.

Cheapest is Gainward reference card, priced at 1099-1149 (increasing soon) and go as MSI Golden limited edition which cost over 1.6k IINM. At that price point, might as well opt for 980...

Yeah, damn gst is making people go mad! lol and our MYR is going to be pessos at this rate if we keep depreciating. Yeah, but I guess i'm biased towards nVidia for their CUDA as compared to OpenCL...

If you are going only 1080p, just go for GTX970. You only go R9 290X if your monitor resolution is 1440p or higher. Change of power supply is required for R9 290X because GX 650W 1st gen isn't good.

I'm going 1080p x 2... So dual screen at full HD... should be fine right with the GTX970?

Your psu should be fine, currently using 550w psu with Leadtek gtx 970.

Plus GTX 970 power requirement only 50w higher than GTX 560.

Thanks for the heads up! Hope it's able to cope even at full load.

Guys for now I'm leaning more towards the Galax GTX970 EXOC Black Edition.... yay or nay? biggrin.gif

THank you guys for all your kind input! I've gotten myself a new GPU, and my old gpu is going to be left in one corner, to be FILLED WITH DUST! smile.gif

The GTX 970's performance is (even with that slower 0.5GB) similar or better than the R9 290X.

Price is also quite similar, I would go for GTX 970 any day over the R9 290X.

At 1440p or higher both won't be good performers either, I tried GTX 970 on 4K before and I don't see how far the R9 290X can stretch.

For those resolution or higher, it's GTX 980 at the least, or better still GTX 970 SLI.

Yeaah.. idk the gimmicky marking of 3.5G+0.5G thingy...
I don't have a 4k screen to begin with though i work in 4k material... never gonna do SLI, one of the main reason is because I don't want more headaches tongue.gif hahaha lol.

but i just got my new baby, time to test it to it's limit!
