QUOTE(firstknight @ Apr 15 2015, 10:31 PM) Not really. I'll wait for the malaysia release instead. Shipping itself is already Rm100. Not to mention the 2nd batch extra long wait time. |

QUOTE(CAL V @ Apr 24 2015, 03:15 AM) Guys, may I know where you guys buy Krytox lube? Check gon? spirit from GH? Spirit charges 8USD shipping and GON if not mistaken is $20. There are some complaints about spirit but few months ago i bought springs from him and had no issues at all.Prefer USA site la, mostly I saw are out of stock, or sold in huge volume, which is super expensive and I don't need that much. Or anyone here have extras that can sell me some. Project incoming, but not too soon, just wanna get things prepared. EDIT: I found on EBay. Well if anyone got extra locally, I don't mind buying just don't rip me off.. |

QUOTE(CAL V @ Apr 24 2015, 05:03 AM) Yeah I'll check with him, but actually these are used for MX clears, so I'm not sure what to use, many on GH used 105. (Higher number higher viscosity right?) Yes higher number higher viscosity. Grease are usually used for stabilizers though and oil for switches. In my own personal experience, grease/high viscosity oil does not work very well with plastic contacts. It makes it harder to glide and it becomes sluggish instead. And i find it extremely tedious though to get accurate consistency across the board with lubing. How about the GPL205 grease? I'll just test a couple of switches first, then only I'll decide if I want to lube them all, the set I'm buying already comes with 62g Korean springs. I'm new to all the lube stuff, definitely need more experiments. But of course i'm no lube expert and above is just my personal opinion which might or might not be accurate and never done lube on cherry mx clears so maybe some other sifu here could reply you with a more accurate answer. |

QUOTE(CAL V @ Apr 25 2015, 07:02 PM) Thanks for pointing that out to me, I just posted a log over there. You can create an album through imgur too. Remember to link it here i'm interested to see a build log. But my stuff are not in yet, so I've just listed down all the stuff that will be included in this build. Should be able to post some pics next week. Well, it is a little sad to see no place for such build here.. dadudeneverabides https://www.massdrop.com/buy/unicomp-ultra-classic Just incase you're interested. |

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Apr 27 2015, 02:24 AM) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HysRQnJiupQ You can't do that on consumer grade keyboards. Those plates does not support opening switch top.Just imagine this, but the bottom housing is still soldered to the PCB. |

QUOTE(ck.chunkeat @ Apr 27 2015, 11:21 AM) Thanks for clarification. I've been thinking of opening the switch before but found out that I can't do that on my board without desoldering. The plate mount switch which is removable without soldering is due to the special plate designed for phantom keyboard. Cheaper to get ready made. Anyway, I'm thinking of getting a 60% board for portable traveling. I'm thinking of using gateron switches. Last time I calculated the cost for 1 switch including shipping from taobao would cost around rm1 per switch roughly. So i guesss it's roughly rm60-rm80 there. Is it cheaper to get a ready made 60% board or is it cheaper to get a custom board? Gateron switches - Rm75 Stabilizers - Rm30 Switch stickers - Rm20 Switch lube - Rm35-40 Switch spring - Rm20-40 Stabilizer lube - Rm ?? LEDs - Rm15 Diodes+Resistors - Rm10 60% PCB - Rm100+- 60% plate - Rm45 60% aluminium case - Rm200+- Mini USB cable - Rm15 Total of about - Rm550? Here's a breakdown of estimated prices on making a custom 60% board. Prices are not 100% right depending on what you wanna get. PCB price is based on GH60 and not korean PCB. You've got to top up more for that. Prices are direct converted and haven't factor in shipping prices. |

QUOTE(ck.chunkeat @ Apr 27 2015, 05:14 PM) Thanks for the rough estimation. Mmm if you're not gonna lube, sticker etc, i don't see any point in spending way more for a custom board. If i'm on a tight budget i'd get a cheap stock china board with gaterons instead.Hmm, I think I wouldn't use stickers, leds etc. Is acrylic case cheaper than aluminium case? But then it will still be very expensive. I was thinking of getting a ready made stock keyboard one but I wanted to use gateron switches. Or should I find some chinese keyboards which uses gateron switch? *Just saw cloud posted the poker 2 casing alternative. You'll definitely save alot going with that case. But then again, don't forget you need a set of keycaps. Pok3r comes with aluminium casing and pbt keycaps you might want to consider that. QUOTE(ck.chunkeat @ Apr 27 2015, 10:11 PM) Hmm, a few good points you bring up there, sifu. Tried gaterons 35g on pcb mount itself vs on a acrylic plate mount. Couldn't tell the differences in feel or perhaps i didn't go through extensive typing to tell the difference. But i'll definitely get a metal plate for linear switch if i could. The metal plate sound resonance is too good to miss out. Custom layout is definitely welcomed, and poker 2 kinda defeats my purpose of trying out gaterons too. Leds aren't for me. I can live without it. If i really want to get a alu case, I can always buy it and change it since the plastic case is only rm20+. Btw, what's your comment about linear switches on pcb mounting? Are there any special feel from it? |

QUOTE(ck.chunkeat @ Apr 27 2015, 10:21 PM) Hmm, I've side by side comparison so i could tell the sound difference is pretty huge. On the acrylic one the bottoming out is muffled out while on metal plate it sounds more 'full' and loud. But well thats just my opinion i love the sound of linear switches bottoming out. Guess I would have to try that out for myself. I don't know how does a metal plate resonance sound sounds like. Or maybe there is a difference between acrylic plate and metal plate. Anyway, I don't even know whether my current keyboard uses a metal plate or a plastic plate. |

QUOTE(ragecat @ Apr 29 2015, 09:13 PM) Oh sweet! No need for controller then! Winkeyless acrylic case comes with acrylic plate.Btw, I won't need a controller for the GH60 Satan as well right? I'm looking at that for my second keyboard. This one will be for gaming, so I don't need the function keys. B.mini is fantastic for office as its small, has direction keys and the function keys. I'm picking up my wooden blocks this weekend! Can't wait. I haven't figured out how to chop it yet though. Apparently it is stupid hard to work with.
