Hey
I'm an SPM-leaver and i really don't know which is best.
Between IPTA (UPA? ) and IPTS, which is better? Right now and in the long run.
For instance, IPTS like Taylor's have really nice facilities and they help you after you graduate. But IPTA is by the government, so it must have some benefits in the long run for us too right? When we get work later?
But why does lots of people apply to, and hope for IPTS?
My friend said that it's because they could choose what course they wanted, eventhough it's so expensive. With IPTA, you've got to apply, and you don't know what you'll get, yet it's affordable.
What're some of the pros and cons of IPTA and IPTS? IPTA makes it mandatory for people to participate in lots of ridiculous co-curriculum activities in order for them to stay in hostel. Those activities, in my opinion, are childish, immature, bring no benefits (how is sending in 5 bottle water in exchange of 2 merit marks beneficial or in any way helpful?), waste of time and energy, disallow students to focus on what is necessary (if at moderate amount, yes, but the amount of activities they organise are in my opinion preposterous).
And the kem siswa by USM? Bring people in forest and let them walk the path alone in complete darkness at midnight while faci are hiding in the trees preparing to scare people? Is this suitable at university level?
I can list out more, but I guess I better not.
Plus, the system in IPTA is questionable. I've got lots of friends in IPTA and from what I heard, I am glad I rejected IPTA at first and went for IPTS.
IPTS could be good but it depends on which university you go. University reputation and quality play a huge role in determining which university to go. Choose wisely.
Academic wise I don't think IPTA and IPTS vary much. It's how they run and organise the things that are the determining factors.
I would insist that when you go to university, it is best you are involved in co-curriculum activities, try to get involved in an organisation and be a committee to gain leadership experience/skills. But not in IPTA, the way they implement things in my opinion is not at all helpful and I don't see how you can nurture mature students/skillful graduates by the means they use.
Opinions above are only my opinions. If you do not like those co-curriculum activities like me, then you won't like IPTA. If you do, then it should be a great choice.
