Any perfume head here has any experience with the Montale perfume? I am planning to blind buy again. Thanks.
*
I've only tried Blue Amber, Full Incense, Aoud Leather (smells like Tuscan Leather) and Aoud Forest. Which one are you planning to buy?

I am eyeing at the Golden Aoud. What is your opinion?
*
This is not one of their popular scents. Fragrantica also confirms my view (released since 2008 but only 47 voted and more likes than loves). My suggestion is not to blind buy on this one.

SOTD - Absolu by Rochas
Today I'm in a cloud of tolu goodness. This one smells similar to Tolu by Ormonde Jayne. Found this gem at Mustafa Singapore.

Btw, I kindda like Jasmine based perfume, saw a few recommendation but where can I try those? Don't think is available in Parkson..
*
You can find out more from here :-
- http://perfumeposse.com/2012/09/24/jasmine...smine-perfumes/

But there is only a couple you can find in KL from the guide. Note that there are two types of jasmine, french and asian (sambac). Sambac is the one you can find in abundance in Bali.

Anyone have comment on whether to choose acqua di gio or bvlgari aqva? Need some feedback on this 2..

It depends if you wanna smell like you're in Mediterranean or by the sea.

I thought Montale is only well-known for its Oud perfume......didn't know about the sea.

Agree with you bro.
Most of i hear and review on Montale are abt their oud notes creation.
Not sure abt their sea scent / notes...  So far,I haven't explore Montale line-up.Probably any other forumer can share their experience and review  wink.gif
Was looking around and explore Xerjoff, Clive Christian or Roja nx year..
Or probably any British perfume house ; Penhaligon's  hmm.gif
*
Penhaligon's house is just OK for me. I'm currently testing Salome by Papillon Artisan Perfumes (a British house). #FFF was raving about it a while back. In fact, I have it on my left wrist now. It's a tribute to classic animalic chypre with a touch of leather. I don't usually favor cumin but the addition of this dirty note actually smooths out the edges of this scent of otherwise very sharp/sour scent like La Nuit by Paco Rabanne.

Unfortunately, I did not buy any Xerjoff today. I wanted try Zafar, and ready to purchase if I like it. They don't have a tester bottle to try. Too expensive to blind buy.
The crown jewel of the Oud Stars collection, Zafar going for RM900 after discount. Good deal?

I love medicinal oud, it gives the fragrances its 3rd dimension feels. I've narrow down two Fragrance Du Bois that I like:

1) Oud Orange Intense - Smooth Vanilla + Oud. There's nothing 'orange' about it.  Gourmand, and oud. Very strong silage and longevity.
2) Oud Noir Intense - Spices, medicinal oud, musk, flowery (jasmine, and very light rose).

Agree, it's too expensive. Even if it's a real Oud, but we're talking about cultivated, planted oud. Not the well aged oud.

But err I end-up purchasing something biggrin.gif

Medicinal skanky oud is the one I would go for instead of cleaned up French's version.

BTW congratulation on your haul bro! rclxms.gif

SOTD - Interlude by Amouage
Smokey BBQ amber. It fills a room with just a few squirts.

Ah, you had my attention on Ostara with Narcissus. I love Narcissus Noir by Caron. Nowadays, I would only grab my Racquets Formula (discontinued) or English Fern when I feel like dandy. The bowtie bottle is as dandy as the scents.

I no longer keep in touch with joey. After all the hoo-ha, he's decided to retire from this thread. I guess people come, people go. I'm no sifu and pioneer lah. I only joined in v3.

Haha bro u truely deserved the title of sifu lo given the plenty insightful reviews on the vintage scents and ur vast spectrum of olfactory taste.

I respect u fully. U r the most passionate perfumista i known.

Honestly speaking, you, astroboy, marver and izam7 (angie, leena and joey) are sifu in your own right too.

What I know is peanut compares with those in #FFF. Just trying to contribute a little of what I know to this local fraghead community of ours.

FragranceNet.com you mean? They don't ship to Malaysia unfortunately.

This is Fragrantica's official giveaway page :-

I happen to be wearing one of them today - Cool Water by Davidoff. Godfather of all aquatics and poor man's Green Irish Tweed.

One of the best vanilla they say. It smells like autumn to me with that bonfire accord.

Visited perfume section of Parkson at the new VIVACITY Megamall. Quite disappointing with the limited choice.

Haha, Cool Water vs GIT has been interesting debate ever since its release. My experience is based on initial spray from a tester. Tried Chez and it smelled similar too.

I have not purchased or heard of them before. Based on the price/picture of testers/gift sets they are offering, it seems legit (that is if it is actual product picture). The printed tester boxes look like the ones sold at Lucky Plaza Singapore. Maybe Marver can chip in.

Yea, deliciously smokey & 1 of the frags I would 1st considered on a cold rainy day.

I havnt visited VIVA. Had a chat w Dior SA at PMerdeka yesterday & was told of Parkson's weird decision to hv only very limited  perfume section. Indeed a letdown. Anyway , dior is going to hv own boutique in the future & not "linked" to parkson...branding strategy. Kch market is limited i suppose so I wouldn't expect any expansion of perfume brands. It's gona be the usual suspects anywhere u go.
*
Yeah, like some Dior boutiques in HK with no perfume section.

I heard that privee line is now available at the new Dior boutique at Starhill, can anyone confirm?

I went MV garden yesterday..oh man..Psychedelique from Jovoy absolutely a patchouli done smoothly fragrance....damn..25% discount! I have demon whispering in ears now  biggrin.gif ,  Herod Parfum de Marly...uhmm...i like sweet fragrance but a little bit too sweet to me. May try it again some other time!

Wow, so much happening since my last trip to KL in March this year. How much is a bottle of 125ml Dior Privee at Pavilion?

I was torn between Cuir Mauresque, Cuir Cannage and Knize Ten. Cuir Mauresque and Knize Ten are complex scents but I prefer Cuir Mauresque more because it has additional notes I love but it is nearly impossible to find even on ebay. Cuir Cannage has this pairing of iris/jasmine with birch, which is to die for. Knize Ten can be found at firstinfragrance.com but shipping is expensive (luckyscent and ebay are more expensive to buy) and the birthday discount is only available once a year.

SOTD - Leather Oud by Dior
I'm wrapped in a blanket of warm animalic goodness in this cold raining day in Kuching today. Take the animalic leather from DZing!, combine it with the animalic honey from APlS, add oud in and voila!
