QUOTE(Underhill @ Nov 21 2016, 08:29 PM) Purchased Amouage Jubilation XXV today. Tried the 'vintage' version at the store, couldn't notice the difference. Granted, it was just a quick sniff. It's nice to buy retail at brick and mortar shop, with some samples thrown in. [attachmentid=8095123] Congratulation on your haul. I have the vintage. I don't find it very different.

QUOTE(Underhill @ Nov 26 2016, 12:35 AM) Really love my Amouage Opus VI sample. It's next on my list! It sure is one kind of amber scent. Still a bit regret for letting my bottle of it go.

QUOTE(wan81100 @ Dec 14 2016, 09:48 AM) @dr_farnz My pleasure! I'm on an oudventure searching for like minded people interested in oud anyway. When you're mostly alone it's hard to get the motivation up. You know, what do you guys think if I start up a new thread about Oud? It seems that the discussion is wide enough to possibly clash with this thread. Any comments? No need to start a new thread. We welcome everything perfume related discussions/sharing I'm one in the minority to dig the barnyard thingy. Although I didn't contribute much to the oud topic (since I have very little experience with the raw material), I enjoyed reading and learning from your guys. My SOTD is a cheapie but a classic Escape by CK. Close to my heart as it was my very first perfume received as a Christmas gift from my parents.

QUOTE(TAZIO.N @ Dec 16 2016, 09:21 AM) I only found out about Miyako after reading Luca Turin reviews on his now defunct blog perfumesilove. He gave Miyako 5 star . Miyako extrait used to be only USD 75 you know. Should have bought that perfumes at that time (April 2016). As for Miyako,I like it.Takes several wearing to fully appreciate it since i'm not used to the notes(Osmanthus,Apricot,Leather) at that time and it's also an oil based perfumes so I got a weird feeling first time I applied it since I was noob back then, only used to alcohol based perfumes Ah, Osmanthus. I should have discovered it earlier. I recently tried Absolue d’Osmanthe Extrait by Perris Monte Carlo and really liked it. Thought of buying osmanthus based fragrance for my mom as her Christmas present this year but was in a rush. Didn't have time to order samples and pick so I ended up buying her a biggest bottle of Jour d'Hermes that she really loves but almost runs out, which I gifted her a couple of years ago as her Christmas present. As for my wife, not getting her any more perfume this year as she has quite a number of them (also gifted by me) that are still almost full. I got her DW classy watch instead. As for my 9mo boy (turning to 10mo in a few more days), I haven't decided what to buy for him. Still too young for bigger toys. December is really a month of spending. I also plan to grab that Roja Dove sample set from luckyscent. This post has been edited by t0n3: Dec 16 2016, 10:44 AM

QUOTE(TAZIO.N @ Dec 16 2016, 12:16 PM) Good for you man . Aside from Miyako, the other Osmanthus fragrance that I like is Hermessence Osmanthe Yunnan(got a small 15ml bottle). Not sure that I can recommend it to you due to its subtle nature. On my skin the sillage is minimal, does not project much and I got 4-5 hours longevity tops. It's smells great though,a very good warm weather scent imo. Maybe your can buy it for your mother as a CNY present perhaps? As for me I'm loving it.Definitely will wear it on CNY(I'm not a Chinese btw) I've read about Hermessence Osmanthe Yunnan but Jean-Claude Ellena has light hands. Well, maybe too light for my liking We only give ang pows and hampers during CNY BTW, which part of me suggests that I'm a Chinese? This post has been edited by t0n3: Dec 16 2016, 01:58 PM

QUOTE(TAZIO.N @ Dec 16 2016, 03:38 PM) The Osmanthus is the Chinese thingy right?(part of Chinese cuisine). It took me a while to appreciate Osmanthus scent and I don't think my mother will wear Osmanthus fragrance Yes, you must be referring to the osmanthus jelly dessert. It's most often appeared in HK drama set in ancient China. The jelly itself doesn't taste as good as the smell of the actual flower.

QUOTE(magnesium @ Dec 16 2016, 03:45 PM) guys please advice on tester perfume is it original? By definition, tester is the original without fancy packaging and most often without cap. You can only buy it from grey market. Having said that, when it comes to buying perfume online, be it tester or original, always buy from reputable seller. Oh yeah, and stay away from Dubai/Rejected perfumes. This post has been edited by t0n3: Dec 16 2016, 05:58 PM

QUOTE(wan81100 @ Dec 17 2016, 01:02 PM) Aye. Will keep the discussions here. I'm an even bigger noob when it comes to fragrances in general. I'm never bored when reading around here Looking forward to the reviews on Auphorie. They look promising. Is there an option to pay in Ringgit though? Are they a naturel perfume house? Or a mix of natural and synthetics? It seems they even use tapai pulut and gula melaka in their Eau de nyonya! I'm very surprised. If it doesn't claim to be all-natural like April Aromatics, I'm sure they use both. My samples of the trio should reach me today. It was posted over Poslaju counter at Jusco Seremban last Sat.

My mom's xmas present has arrived yesterday after exactly two weeks. Clearance took almost 3 days at my local custom office before releasing it without any issue, most probably due to the new "Dangerous Goods" sticker. No VAT charged at fragX during checkout because it hasn't reached x amount yet. This post has been edited by t0n3: Dec 20 2016, 10:56 AM

That's the last warning for me as I was told. So sorry to hear about your experience. We're from the same city, right? Just received my Auphorie samples.

QUOTE(jarcmercier @ Dec 20 2016, 03:57 PM) Yup. Kuching. FragX was my main source to get frag online. Anyhow, toned down my purchase significantly. That was back in May. Since then only bought once, recently fr Bestbuy in its year end sales...Dior Homme & Aqua Fahrenheit testers. Think both were my 3rd bottle each. DH such exquisite classy scent & AF being my hot day no-brainer cooling scent...& wearing AF now haha. Indeed. You know how much I love Dior Homme. Just got a tester of it from bestbuyworld for RM160 June this year. This post has been edited by t0n3: Dec 22 2016, 11:21 AM

QUOTE(TAZIO.N @ Dec 22 2016, 12:44 PM) Seems to me that you're a fan of animalic scent..Have you ever tried Bal A Versailles? From what I read this one is the best animalic out there especially vintage formulation.I found out that the vintages are relatively easy to find at a reasonable price. The one that's interest me is edc version.Would like to know you opinion Yes I am and a big one. My tastes are more towards vintage/classic style where animalic notes are/were very common. Depending on the brand, well-known brand of vintages like Chanel or Guerlain can still cost you a kidney specially the PdT (it's EdP that they used to call at that time). I have three bottles of BaV EdC actually. The cannister design is made in the 70's while the splash bottles are from original design made in the 60's. Animalic, yes but not dirty. Some one mentioned it's in the vein of Toujours Moi and Tabu (which I also own). Get the cannister so you know your juice isn't being tampered with and for easy application, and also it's fresher when it's sealed. Get the splash bottle if you're a collector. i would say it's the best affordable vintage you can buy. Performance-wise, you will get noticed, definitely has better projection than my current formulation of Jicky EdT. It lasts about 4-6 hours on my skin. QUOTE(jarcmercier @ Dec 22 2016, 01:34 PM) Cool. It has 1 of d best-est price for Door's testers anywhere. I got mine for almost similar price. Kch's weather really erratic. This morning cooling so put on Angel Men but now as hot sunny hot. Haha. Talking about TM, I'm tempted to get that new Ultra Zest from strawberrynet with additional 30% off given to me. Anyone tried that?

QUOTE(whitey87 @ Dec 22 2016, 08:18 PM) and talking about Dior Homme I now know what to buy for replacement once my juice runs out.....it will be none other than Valentino Uomo Intense. IMO this is simply a "better" DH with better projection and lasting power on my skin. I only tried the regular Valentino Uomo. It does bear some similarities to DH minus the iris.

QUOTE(poweredbydiscuz @ Dec 22 2016, 07:34 PM) To me it smells exactly like this Mouth-watering delicious... and a "heavy" kind of fresh scent, if that makes any sense. QUOTE(whitey87 @ Dec 22 2016, 07:57 PM) Ultra Zest is my 2nd TM frag after A Men...got it last year from Parkson during one of its sale period. I am a fan of the original A Men but feel that our weather is a bit too hot to pull it off without offending some people with its sheer "power". But it still has a permanent place in my collection due to its uniqueness and its "either love it or hate it" character. Ultra Zest is THE citrusy gourmand in my collection and the one seeing more usage c/w A-Men. Just love the blast of tangerine but still with the heart of A-Men goodness. How's the performance on this? I read it isn't long lasting and soft.

QUOTE(whitey87 @ Dec 23 2016, 02:44 PM) It isn't as long lasting as A-Men but I'm guessing you will like it if you love/like the original flanker. I get about 2hrs of sillage with medium projection, then becoming a skin scent for another 4-6 hrs. And the sprayer is still lousy OK thanks bro!

QUOTE(whitey87 @ Dec 23 2016, 03:19 PM) What's your initial opinion of the Auphorie samples bro? My initial sampling have 2 "likes" and 2 "dislikes". I simply cannot stand the opening of Formosa and Nyonya, the former is somewhat very harsh and the later is too sickly sweet. Miyako and Binturong deserves another testing next week. Haven't really tested them out yet but my first impressions are :- - Eau De Formosa - Smells like fruit punch. Don't think I would wear that. - Eau De Nyonya - This basically smells like palm sugar syrup with smoke! Very authentic palm sugar smell that you might accidentally drink it. Too cloying for me. It should have something sharp to cut it. - Binturong - I didn't get the usual animalic nuances (civet and beaver). It's vegetable on my skin then I realized it's because of iris (same vegetable iris in Iris Silver Mist by Serge Lutens). Doesn't project as much as the other two I've tried. I should have ordered Miyako together. Maybe I'll just do that later. What are your thoughts? Merry Christmas and happy new year everyone!
