I'm one in the minority to dig the barnyard thingy. Although I didn't contribute much to the oud topic (since I have very little experience with the raw material), I enjoyed reading and learning from your guys.

My SOTD is a cheapie but a classic Escape by CK. Close to my heart as it was my very first perfume received as a Christmas gift from my parents.

I'll order a trio of the new samples soon.

Ah, Osmanthus. I should have discovered it earlier. I recently tried Absolue d’Osmanthe Extrait by Perris Monte Carlo and really liked it. Thought of buying osmanthus based fragrance for my mom as her Christmas present this year but was in a rush. Didn't have time to order samples and pick so I ended up buying her a biggest bottle of Jour d'Hermes that she really loves but almost runs out, which I gifted her a couple of years ago as her Christmas present. As for my wife, not getting her any more perfume this year as she has quite a number of them (also gifted by me) that are still almost full. I got her DW classy watch instead. As for my 9mo boy (turning to 10mo in a few more days), I haven't decided what to buy for him. Still too young for bigger toys. December is really a month of spending. I also plan to grab that Roja Dove sample set from luckyscent.

Yes, you must be referring to the osmanthus jelly dessert. It's most often appeared in HK drama set in ancient China. The jelly itself doesn't taste as good as the smell of the actual flower.

By definition, tester is the original without fancy packaging and most often without cap. You can only buy it from grey market. Having said that, when it comes to buying perfume online, be it tester or original, always buy from reputable seller. Oh yeah, and stay away from Dubai/Rejected perfumes.

If it doesn't claim to be all-natural like April Aromatics, I'm sure they use both. My samples of the trio should reach me today. It was posted over Poslaju counter at Jusco Seremban last Sat.

My mom's xmas present has arrived yesterday after exactly two weeks. Clearance took almost 3 days at my local custom office before releasing it without any issue, most probably due to the new "Dangerous Goods" sticker. No VAT charged at fragX during checkout because it hasn't reached x amount yet.

Yes I am and a big one. My tastes are more towards vintage/classic style where animalic notes are/were very common. Depending on the brand, well-known brand of vintages like Chanel or Guerlain can still cost you a kidney specially the PdT (it's EdP that they used to call at that time).

I have three bottles of BaV EdC actually. The cannister design is made in the 70's while the splash bottles are from original design made in the 60's. Animalic, yes but not dirty. Some one mentioned it's in the vein of Toujours Moi and Tabu (which I also own). Get the cannister so you know your juice isn't being tampered with and for easy application, and also it's fresher when it's sealed. Get the splash bottle if you're a collector. i would say it's the best affordable vintage you can buy. Performance-wise, you will get noticed, definitely has better projection than my current formulation of Jicky EdT. It lasts about 4-6 hours on my skin.

Talking about TM, I'm tempted to get that new Ultra Zest from strawberrynet with additional 30% off given to me. Anyone tried that?

I only tried the regular Valentino Uomo. It does bear some similarities to DH minus the iris.

How's the performance on this? I read it isn't long lasting and soft.

Haven't really tested them out yet but my first impressions are :-
- Eau De Formosa - Smells like fruit punch. Don't think I would wear that.
- Eau De Nyonya - This basically smells like palm sugar syrup with smoke! Very authentic palm sugar smell that you might accidentally drink it. Too cloying for me. It should have something sharp to cut it.
- Binturong - I didn't get the usual animalic nuances (civet and beaver). It's vegetable on my skin then I realized it's because of iris (same vegetable iris in Iris Silver Mist by Serge Lutens). Doesn't project as much as the other two I've tried.

I should have ordered Miyako together. Maybe I'll just do that later. What are your thoughts?
