Hi All!

FYI, I do not have any knowledge on keyboard nor piano, but since my GF birthday is coming soon, I am planning to get her a keyboard.
P/S : She do have a grade 7 piano certificate, but did not touch the piano for quite a long time as shes studying in KL but house is in east. Not planning to buy piano as I couldn't afford and no place to put.

Have been recently looking into this page TMT and wondering which keyboard should I get for her..

I can only afford the middle range 1.. and made a Comparison between these 3 keyboards.

Please icon_question.gif rclxub.gif , do also let me know if there is other comparable keyboard.

Thanks a million!

Frankly, keyboard sucks compared to piano....there is no feel at all. IMO, you need to up your budget and maybe scout for 2nd hand digital piano in the RM1.5K range if can find.

You will get full marks from her, confirmed. brows.gif

if she's grade 7, she wouldn't want to touch a keyboard with a 10 ft long pole tongue.gif

True, but then.. at least can still play like piano right? I always thought that keyboard is somehow similar to piano but in a simpler version. rclxub.gif

hmm, a keyboard lacks a lot of features a piano have, but essentially, the feel of playing a piano is gone when u are playing a keyboard, sure she can play it well but she probably won't enjoy it much. how bout getting her a guitar? with her background, she'd pick it up quite fast and in many ways, a guitar is similar to a piano.

bro, Digital piano not Analog piano lar. Get those which is flexible where the bottom wood part is not part of the piano and it looks just like a Keyboard (but longer due to full 88 keys).

Most can have the bottom part dismantle or fixed when needed. Some just need to stand on simple keyboard stand which is foldable.

Can put under bed no problem.

You cannot play a keyboard like a piano, especially the cheap ones....no aftertouch, no feel...not the same....at least get a an RM1K+ keyboard...which can probably get you a 2nd hand digital piano.

I use this same model too. Try nego and see if can bring price down. biggrin.gif

The bottom part is optional, you don't need to fix it. Can just use a compatible stand like something below.

You can also look at another popular model, Korg SP-250

See? Looks just like a keyboard but longer only.

Those 3 Casio keyboards you have in mind for your gf is really not suitable for a grade 7 player.

At the very least I would suggest a Yamaha DGX-230. I know it is over your budget but maybe you can work out some sort of easy payment scheme.

Good luck.
