Miniatures has long been a hobby in Malaysia but the expensive cost of starting up is often a deterrent to many. Imagine having to pay RM900 excluding paints, the effort and the time before getting to play the game.

However, painting miniatures is a great hobby because frankly, these little things look great. We are now trying to promote a new hobby, one which we will call 3D painting and these involves miniatures.

The line of products is from Rackham Games and it is a very nice miniature to paint. Most miniatures are made from plastic but these guys are made of metal.

Cost of entry is low, RM150 for a starter that includes:

- 3 Wolfen figurines and 5 Dirz figurines
- Rule book

A Paint Starter is also available at RM150 which includes:

- 1 Daikinee Elf figurine
- 9 bottles of paint
- 1 brush
- 1 paint guide
- 1 mini rulebook

Bonus is that these figurines can be used in a game, because frankly speaking, the game only requires very low entry cost. Better yet, there is a fantastic board game called Hybrid which you can use your figurines for.

Below are sample images of the miniatures and I hope alot more people will begin to take up this hobby.

Yep Rackham is responsible for the Confrontation range.

I've been collecting Warhammer 40k minis for few years now and I must say they look great! I also painted majority of them (really time consuming but satisfying if got the time and basic skills/patience).

I've no intention to move into the wargaming itself though. I just collect them because they look cool and different and don't take up so much space (like eg. 1/6 soldiers). Rackham IMHO are way too expensive (sorry if I say that) 'cos even warhammer are very pricey (~RM10 or more per mini) which is the main reason I stopped accumulating the collection (it's enough for now...spent over 1k on those little fellas!).

Alternatively I collect also certain 1/72 minis, much much cheaper but also very small (too thin for my taste) but they're great on epic scale, like armour and company or battalion level!

28/25mm are more for skirmishes (platoon or at most company level!).

Besides that, I prefer plastic/resin over metal (too heavy, more pricey and not as clean/easy to paint as plastic/resin).

But I must say Rackham makes the most beautiful and extremely stylish fantasy/medieval minis out there(French flair?). I just drool over the pix of Lions of Alahan and Griffin warriors(my fave)!

Their website is also an eye treat! (www.rackham.fr)

Yep definitely drools galore at the website.

Well, I am mainly in for the painting so metal figurines for me coz I like the feel of it tongue.gif

And Warhammer 40k was too scifi for me. Rackham's French flair is definitely good looking.

On top of that, I am an avid board gamer and Rackham has a very good board game in Hybrid.
