My boyfriend grad from Sunway's Computing course and I grad from APU's computing course. Certainly a lot of difference if you do comparison between both.

I have to agree that Sunway's syllabus is almost 2 times easier than APU and MMU's computer science course. Sunway's lecturers are so lenient in marking, especially assignments and projects, so it is quite easy to pass. In APU a simple maths module can have 70% of the class failing it.

So your point is that APU's computer science is better than Sunway?

In terms of syllabus difficulty, APU is far more difficult than Sunway. So it really depends on what you are looking for. Whether you are looking for a good syllabus, or a simple syllabus to pass.

There is certainly a reason why APU/MMU's computer science is more popular than Sunway. But be prepared, don't be surprised if you have 70% of the class failing a test.

For Malaysia's IT job prospect, fresh graduate programmers often get between 2.8k - 3.7k nowadays. Not bad for now, but if you talking about employment after you graduate, we won't know.

I do not agree. I am ex APU student. I transfer to monash already. APU sylabus is so low. I never do assignment/class test for math. I still pass my maths module.[during 2014] and if you don't already know... if u fail u can beg APU top management to pass you....

I am a student at APU. Bout the teaching quality? I guess it depends on your luck meeting up with which lecturer, like I've experienced some of the best lecturers who gave us a lot of clear explanation and practices, and some of the worst who didn't even care to explain. For instance on my current semester, I am having classes with 4 up-to-par lecturers and one "she has no idea what she's doing and what she has to do"

Gotta warn you about the small campus environment there, even when it is already a 5-star. You can't enjoy campus life there, unless they have finished building the new campus which is "rumoured" to be done next year, after proposing it like years ago.

I don't know about you. but i only got like 3 good lecturer for my 1 years worth of studies.... Let me guess the "she" is a middle east lecturer teaching C/JAVA language or data structure...
LOL the campus they said 2013 to me back in 2012....

APU itself is not a bad choice actually but I personally hated it... and why would you want a malaysia cert but not australia cert?
Pros
1. The IT standard there is high just NOT the way they access the student.
2. Student are all IT oriented. Therefore, you can learn alot from the student NOT LECTURER. Because the student have more passion and sometimes know better than lecturers. This is the benefit of famous IT school because all student interested/passionated in IT will gather there.
3. Easy pass
4. You can work there. [i worked for 2 years]

Cons
1. Bad lecturers
2. Expensive considering everything
3. I ate 2 times at cafeteria. 2 times cockroaches in food..........
4. No campus life. Go class go back sleep type....

First thing is, TS is comparing APU vs Sunway only. Of course I will recommend APU among both. If he's asking in terms of general malaysian university, I would highly suggest MMU.

Second thing, I am a programmer who programs for the government since 16. I am the type who don't go to 60% of the class but scored a first class honours with best project award. I actually enjoy the "No campus life" thing, because I do not have the time in the world to be bothered about campus life. My life is go to class, then head straight back to work with the same attire.

Until now, I do get APU's invitation to bump into student's class to talk about big data / AI field because I work as a AI researcher now. I also bump into labs to talk about android development recently.

Fortunately, for me, I met a lot of experienced and good lecturers who was fully supportive when I proposed to do a big data related project for my degree thesis. They got me the materials and equipment despite the trouble to get it from the States and the expensive pricing (they are easily over RM50k to buy that workstation). They even loan me all the laptops they got on hand to support my research (about 20 of them because I need a lot of local processing power). They sponsored me amazon server to host my dataset too.

That's why I appreciate APU a lot for giving me a lot of freedom in terms of research topic and all the time in the world to help me in research. The lecturers did research together with me because they are also a learner who wants to know more about data mining / deep learning. They read research papers together with me to make my thesis works. I am the type who loves studying and researching alone.

I don't know about the fees thing. I am a scholarship holder.

I don't even eat in cafeteria because I am a cardiac disease patient. I had a very restricted diet when I was in uni because my condition worsen that time.

If I were to do all these research in university who have a lot of other activities distracting me, I wouldn't be able to do it. Most importantly, which freaking university would want to sponsor about 100k on your degree thesis which others might think I'm out of my mind? Of course, my studies in APU is very rarely heard. 99% of the students wouldn't want to go thru the path I've been.

For those who say APU is very bad, you think you wouldn't met bad lecturers in other universities? There must be bad eggs in other universities as well. University life, to me it is either you want to pass easy, and to score high proudly. It is about your initiative.

I am merely sharing my experience in APU. If you want a campus life, don't go APU. Because APU is pure boring, and you need to find your own research to have fun.

If you want quality lecturers, MMU should be best, the majority of their lecturers are Phd holders with a few Msc holders.

I'm gonna agree with this. MMU stand out among all.
