My boyfriend grad from Sunway's Computing course and I grad from APU's computing course. Certainly a lot of difference if you do comparison between both.
I have to agree that Sunway's syllabus is almost 2 times easier than APU and MMU's computer science course. Sunway's lecturers are so lenient in marking, especially assignments and projects, so it is quite easy to pass. In APU a simple maths module can have 70% of the class failing it. |

QUOTE(lolzcalvin @ May 8 2015, 09:13 PM) On your question, "I believe so" is my answer. APU and MMU computer science/IT courses have a much greater reputation for IPTS. Hey thanks for replying.Sorry to bother you but can you tell me what IPTS is? I will be applying as an international student so i don't know much about it. Actually nothing. By the way, how is the Future Employment Prospects at IT field in Malaysia? This post has been edited by Subflick: May 8 2015, 09:30 PM |

IT field in Malaysia is gradually rising, slowly but surely, as demanded globally where IT field holds a significant position on the world. Future employment? No idea. IT field is one of the top 10 best paying field in Malaysia. |

QUOTE(lolzcalvin @ May 8 2015, 11:00 PM) IPTS are private universities in Malaysia, while IPTA are public universities funded by the Malaysian government. Thanks man. It really helps me a lot. IT field in Malaysia is gradually rising, slowly but surely, as demanded globally where IT field holds a significant position on the world. Future employment? No idea. IT field is one of the top 10 best paying field in Malaysia. But one thing I am concerned about is that the ''rumors'' and ''bad talks'' I keep hearing about APU. Like I have heard that their teaching quality is going down, lousy lecturers etc. But none of them seems to be a grad/at least studied at APU. So it would be helpful if you can assure me of the quality. Thanks and again sorry to annoy you haha. |

QUOTE(Subflick @ May 8 2015, 08:51 PM) In terms of syllabus difficulty, APU is far more difficult than Sunway. So it really depends on what you are looking for. Whether you are looking for a good syllabus, or a simple syllabus to pass. There is certainly a reason why APU/MMU's computer science is more popular than Sunway. But be prepared, don't be surprised if you have 70% of the class failing a test. For Malaysia's IT job prospect, fresh graduate programmers often get between 2.8k - 3.7k nowadays. Not bad for now, but if you talking about employment after you graduate, we won't know. |

Whether you are looking for a good syllabus, or a simple syllabus to pass. I do not agree. I am ex APU student. I transfer to monash already. APU sylabus is so low. I never do assignment/class test for math. I still pass my maths module.[during 2014] and if you don't already know... if u fail u can beg APU top management to pass you....There is certainly a reason why APU/MMU's computer science is more popular than Sunway. I have compared both universities course structure and APU seems to have a better one! Do me one more favor please if you can... Since you are a graduate from APU can you tell me about their education quality and facilities? And since your Boyfriend graduated from Sunway you might know about his experience. Thanks again. |

QUOTE(Subflick @ May 8 2015, 11:48 PM) Thanks man. It really helps me a lot. I am a student at APU. Bout the teaching quality? I guess it depends on your luck meeting up with which lecturer, like I've experienced some of the best lecturers who gave us a lot of clear explanation and practices, and some of the worst who didn't even care to explain. For instance on my current semester, I am having classes with 4 up-to-par lecturers and one "she has no idea what she's doing and what she has to do"But one thing I am concerned about is that the ''rumors'' and ''bad talks'' I keep hearing about APU. You can't enjoy campus life there, unless they have finished building the new campus which is "rumoured" to be done next year, after proposing it like years ago. Let me guess the "she" is a middle east lecturer teaching C/JAVA language or data structure...Gotta warn you about the small campus environment there, even when it is already a 5-star. APU itself is not a bad choice actually but I personally hated it... and why would you want a malaysia cert but not australia cert?
Pros 1. The IT standard there is high just NOT the way they access the student. 2. Student are all IT oriented. Therefore, you can learn alot from the student NOT LECTURER. Because the student have more passion and sometimes know better than lecturers. This is the benefit of famous IT school because all student interested/passionated in IT will gather there. 3. Easy pass 4. You can work there. [i worked for 2 years] Cons 1. Bad lecturers 2. Expensive considering everything 3. I ate 2 times at cafeteria. 2 times cockroaches in food.......... 4. No campus life. Go class go back sleep type.... This post has been edited by FaTaLiTy.KiLLS: May 9 2015, 12:27 AM |

For APU is usually one time assignment.... and for some is 100% coursework... For my C programming, I copy my senior source code and add few extra implementation and I got A... [100% coursework]Cons #3 and #4 is going to kill me. #3 can be avoided but #4.. need to think about it. I do not know about #4, because the new Campus is really almost complete can see the building itself already not just a empty land like it used to be... |
