CW Devastator is an affordable kid's toy.

Green Giant and TFC Herc are higher end adult collectibles.

You are right that they serve different functions.

But to claim that the quality is almost the same? LOL how on earth?
*
my take:

Quality as in plastic/ material used for hinges joints = almost the same
Quality as in engineering complexity = 3rd party superior

Both will deteriorate (if equally playedd with) the same way. But I think 3rd party will lose out from multiple transformations/play. Imagine transforming a Hasbro toy with 10 moving parts every day for a year. Eventually a few hinges might loosen. Now imagine doing the same to a 30 moving parts 3rd party figure.... 10 hinges might loosen .

You might have other subjective criteria on quality though.

anyway.. dont be deceived by 3rd party's premium pricing though.. they're not using any more superior materials than Hasbro's . and they are not doing QC on the strength of hinges to ensure it lasted twice or 10 times longer than conventional Hasbro's equivalent.

Infernus' jet mode resembled one character from Transformers universe (guess who?). He is named so because of his fiery red color scheme and with spikes and horns all over. He was known to rise from the depths of Cybertron hell, a culmination of millions of sparks who died horribly in the smelting pool.

The jet transforms into robot without taking off parts. And the transformation sequence is incredibly simple indeed!

Even though set 31032 offered tons of balljoints... I've used them all up leaving only one orphaned socket part (there's no balljoint to complement it). If only they offer this one part in this set and I will be able to make an articulated head. Presently Infernus only can look forward and unable to rotate his head. tongue.gif

One of the major highlights in my project is how to make the nosecone halves (forming robot legs) aligned with each other . One of the way is to implement a peg on one half and a peghole on the opposing half. The 1-stud long peg looks ugly but I always favor structural integrity over aesthetics.

^ the aforementioned orphaned balljoint socket ended up at the back of his pelvis.

You will notice he don't have eyes (read: there's no suitable transparent parts from set 31032 to be used for eyes.). I don't think he need proper eyes (or face even!) since he's literally one hell of a character, like grim reaper. smile.gif

Still waiting for mine, but watching some reviews, was a little disappointed with how the helmet is held on by a clip that detaches and reattaches.. Was hoping for some nifty engineering that allows for that part of the transformation and still have the head rotate hehe ..

Exactly one of my anticipations to. I didnt watch the video, but its no longer relevant since I not decided to get him. Kinda dissapointed with MP UM QC coz the crotchplate snapped broken after less than 2 months of play ( not even transform him often). I have better luck with cheaper MP carbots that survived tortures by my nephews the last CNY.

Honestly I like the design. It has the combiner aesthetics. I can understand how Hasbro is working, the safety regulations etc, as well as making sure the toys themselves are appealing and can be accepted by all. So many hoops of fire they have to jump.  After all, its ROI over and over again. The kangkang thighs, are way better than 3rd party’s A stance. It gives more pose ability for the figures, not to mention stability. My only gripe with Combiner Wars is the weak hands and feet design, but hey, they are going that Scramble City way, where everybody can be combined with anybody, but this time, hands can be legs vice versa. Its an understandable scenario. Definitely will get Menasor and the Protectorbots. On the third party side, am hoping can complete my Warbotron Bruticus.  Hope the company has the balls to bring Japanese G1 combiners like Raiden, Dinoking, Leo Kaiser etc. Personally I am getting bored with G1 US combiners.  biggrin.gif

I agree... but I seriously cant accept the price. RM70++ for a TF smaller than a deluxe toy. hmm..
And also.. how they recycled the same mould for feet and hands. I can't comprehend this at all.

TRU definitely is not the best place to buy TF now, at leasy hypermarkets might price them more competitively during sales time. support your local toy shops people!

hEHEH.. I owned one too but the main cover torn away from the book. The rest of the pages still intact though although condition is not so good (Yellowed). I memorized most of the bot names AND taglines . If this is a physic /KImia textbook I would've scored A.

this book doesn't cover all the bots bio from G1 comics . I noticed a dozen missing. Even though Sandstorm thumbnail is on the cover.. but his bio is not present in this book. :|

The doors probably open to reveal a bunch of parts inside lol. But still a nice touch.

If the price is right... its definitely a must-get for me.
