well, its a sad fact that scholarships are based more on race than your results here.
but if you're going to UK, prices of musical stuff there are very expensive.

Prices of everything is expensive there...trust me..if you have the money to buy a musical gear there, you''ll probably do better using the money for more important stuff. ie. food, rent, cab..

i bought my entire gear here (europe). It's sometimes even cheaper than malaysia. Of course, you have to work part time to cover the costs and not suck your parents/government cash. Wait a minute...suck the governments cash....hahaha
I got a job for 2 months paying 9 euros an hour. So working for 2 months helped me to pay off for all my gear with left over to get a plane ticket back to malaysia. I cycle alot so i don't spend money on public transport which is a big saving in most of western europe and UK. Save where you can and spend where you should (like on gear...tongue.gif)

Sometimes I wonder how our Malaysian song writers/singers made it in Taiwan.

You know, Gary Cao, Guang Liang, Fish Leong, etc etc.

Wonder how they all started out ? Anyone have any background info ?

there are quite a few ppl here writing songs for taiwan artists.

how the rest make it? good looks.
tho some do look ugly, so i wonder too.
maybe they're pretty good at getting down on their knees.

sad case for malaysian industry that to make it big here, you have to make it big outside first.
like all malaysians, wanna tumpang glamor only.

but is this guy going to study music?
then your spm trial results means crap to get a scholarship.
you need to prove that you deserve a music scholarship, and that means playing etc etc, references and all.

I still say europe is the best for classical music. Austria especially. And i think classical is the basis for all genres of music. In US i can only think of berkley (however u spell it) but i'm not such a big fan of america anyway.... Sure they have good musicians, but that's only because musicians actually make enough money to live there.

i don't think that i will study music. i would rather take engineering. the main reason for me to study abroad is to go to the big event. my cousin said that he had a wonderful time seeing metallica, megadeth etc etc. what a wonderful time he had.

is australia a good choise? i mean the music scene there. the only big event the that i can think of is big day out.

anyway, wish me luck for my spm

europe has wacken and monsters of rock tongue.gif

US obviously has more concerts etc, plus the US education system lets you take diff subjects to fill up stuff.
i've taken music courses to fill up credits, plus the sports courses are a nice break.

the UK and aussie system is abit strict, in that you must follow the guidelines on what subject they recommend to take etc etc.
