2month ago i purchase Dell U2414H , same , the black level very poor , bleeding backlight

today i purchase samsung s22c170b , the black color even worst

Backlight bleeding, glow (IPS), colour shift (TN), black not black enough are always feature of LCD especially nowadays that pricing always dictate the mainstream market product.

Back then when using CRT, we won't talk about this kind of issue at all.

While with recently year LCD change from CCFL to LED as backlight, I saw more problem in term of backlight bleeding, don't know its is quality issue or because of LED.

LCD still fail to beat CRT in term of image quality despite its advancement.

A good LCD that can produce good colour accuracy, deep black, its pricing won't come cheap.

Last time buy crt, don't need to worry much.

Now with LCD, need to concern, backlight bleeding, colour accuracy, black not black, bright/dead pixel, lag, not fast enough respond time etc, interpolation that cause text become blurriness etc.

i see , but i saw on youtube about direct backlit and edgelit , it seems like direct backlit far more better than edgelit in term of color quality
i check those LED monitor , but in specifications didn't mention is edgelit or direct backlit

i think the best one still the old LCD using CCFL , because i dont need those ECO monitor for power saving , just need good quality rclxub.gif

You may want to look for glossy IPS displays - though the problem is you need to deal with reflections. If you really want true blacks - you will need to go OLED, since they do not need a backlight when displaying black. Though commercially available OLED monitors are not cheap (they can cost as much as a car, and they are intended for the professional market, FYI). sweat.gif

There are better panel, but nowadays everything is price sensitive.

A LCD sell at Rm2000 with better panel.
B LCD sell at Rm800 with lesser quality panel.

B will sell well, and A may need resort to use the same panel with B in order to stay in business and the better panel may be out of market.

I've been eyeing VA panels for some time. Movie night scenes on my TN LCD is such a nightmare compared to CRT
