from a brief search, the sata port in your laptop is sata1, which has max bandwidth of 150MB/s. even if you can run ssd, your system will be a bottleneck, capping it at that speed.

imo sata2 is the minimal sata spec to run ssd at acceptable good speed.

hmm....ok thanks then..may be consider use normal harddisk. i kind of feel my current harddisk going to die soon, can hear those "klak" sound. so just thinking to replace with ssd to improve the windows loading speed.

Samsung 850 EVO 120GB SATA III Internal Hard Drive 2.5"
TRANSCEND SSD 370 Premium 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive SATA III 6Gb/s

among these 2, which 1 is better?

yes. i just bought a SSD for almost 6 yrs old laptop. although the laptop is SATA 1, but can feel the significant improvement of booting and loading application speed.

Thanks. Which brand/model for 120gb or 256gb SSD u all prefer? Need to swap with Optical Disk drive or just take it the HDD out and plug in SSD?  smile.gif

i use samsung evo 850 120GB SSD.
use ssd as my primary drive.
take out optical drive, bought an caddy to install my existing HDD, this become my secondary drive

That is indeed true. I was looking for a budget/mainstream ssd for my spare system. Was browsing through lazada and stumble across on what I thought was a killer deal. Glad I came here before I pulled the trigger.  sweat.gif

Okay, I've set my eyes to the transcend 370s 128gb variant as it's below the RM200 mark right now. Promising reviews. 3 years warranty.

3 years doesn't bother me as I'll probably change to a bigger ssd anyways in that time period.

for Samsung Evo 850 120GB SSD, you might want consider this. i just bought 1 recently. create new lazada account, purchase via android apps, apply lucky80 or lucky15 to get 15% discount. final price rm256, free shipping.
