QUOTE(empire23 @ Jan 25 2016, 06:14 PM) Anyone here given the Samsung 950 Pro a whirl yet? I'm giving it serious consideration because the Intel 750 series will obviously have to sit in a PCI-E slot, which takes up a considerable amount of space. It would be good know if any users here have any experience with them. QUOTE(horns @ Jan 25 2016, 09:38 PM) if the m.2 slot is not blocked by anything, you can secure a copper heat sink on top of its controller chip. the caveat is that you might void its warranty if you removed the sticker. I heard the 950pro also the nand gets pretty hot. The 750s last time i heard, loading windows is slower than non nvme sata ssd. no, i just have samsung's xp941 and sm951. i use a pcie adapter with heat sink to cope with its overheating. note that a lot of reviews said that it's acceptable to use them in bare form in general use. the point does make sense, but i am building my work stuff with it and move them to other storage frequently. i just don't wanna risk it. samsung 950 pro has a built-in throttling to prevent overheating. (basically it means dropping the speed to sata3 when it happens) if this is not your concern then it should be good to go. QUOTE(clawhammer @ Jan 26 2016, 10:59 PM) I'm trying to do a bulk buy for SM951 and if I can get 25 units, I can do RM900 each. Anyone interested? These are nvme enterprise ssd right? Macam interested. |

QUOTE(sHawTY @ Sep 11 2016, 03:57 PM) What's all this hoo-haa about Intel 600P? Not better, was hoping to. Just watch pcper podcast about this ssd, There is reason why the 600p is 60% cheaper than 950pro. Is it better than Samsung 950 Pro? Real question by the way, not sarcasm On paper, the 600p is not looking good. But it is of course better than any Sata SSD, on normal usage. There is issue with its cache, when it is saturated, it is slower than Sata SSD. Which i believe, normal power user would probably not hitting that limit. |

QUOTE(flexus90 @ Sep 11 2016, 03:47 PM) Here are some news, Oh ok thanks. Looking for 512GB version. Probably need to wait.http://bit.ly/2ciPMYx For 256GB RM488 selling price in Malaysia on first month of launch, while RM520(USD130) selling price in USA(Newegg) I wonder what the price would be after several months. Glad it is cheaper in Malaysia even our purchasing power is much lower than US. |

QUOTE(flexus90 @ Sep 11 2016, 10:55 PM) Another NVMe SSD based PS5007-E7, obviously nothing cant beat the juggernaut Samsung on Consumer Market yet. The 960 pro is coming soon too, the successor of 950 pro. Although probably not low cost nvme, but we can expect better performance.Patriot Hellfire M.2 NVMe SSD Review http://bit.ly/2cOXtJc |

z97 user should still be fine with the latest bios, they still have the workaround to those m.2 nvme ssd running.
Not worth it to upgrade just for that. The next point of upgrade is when Intel release their 3dxpoint / optane memory. That will be insane when ram and ssd (volatile and nonvolatile) has a very grey area. Even OS need to redesign for this to take advantage. Now considering Intel 600p or Samsung 960 Evo m.2 for my built. |
