Is your previous drive a SSD? You won't feel the difference switching brands.

List your PC spec and see. OS Win7 or Win8.1?

uh? with w8.1 it should be even faster. the first thing to check is to run crystal diskmark and see if it runs at advertised speed. if it's lower, check if you're connected to intel sata3 port. have you updated the firmware?

The more drive you install, the longer it boots due to drive detection. You might wanna optimize some settings. It should be significantly faster than WD Green.

becnhmark your ssd using crystaldiskmark and post the result here..

yes. just checked your mobo manual (i took a look at h71m-dgs; couldn't find h71-dgs at asrock website), the mobo has only sata2 ports. there is no sata3 ports.

from your diskmark test, your ssd is actually running at full sata2 speed. that's nothing wrong with it.

yes that's normal. it's the sata2 bottleneck that hinders the performance of your ssd.

don't get the wrong idea that when you have a ssd then you must be able to cold-boot it faster than a hdd, especially when you are running w8.x. (like TristanX pointed out, there are things that need time to load during boot time. the more hardware you put in, the long time it takes) the more important part imo is always when you use a computer, e.g. loading apps/games, and working on stuff. it should be more responsive than before with a ssd. sorry but i don't get the part that you are disappointing to have a ssd in your system.
maybe you guys should share some pointers to limadekad on how you make it run fast

check whether ur plug cable connected to sata 3 6gb/s & check ur bios setting. make sure is ACHI & SSD

well tbh, the sata 2 port really holding you back.. your ssd should give double the speed especially the read speed of your current setup.. even a good hdd can give 150 - 190mb/s of read speed.. by just upgraded to 270mb/s of read speed, the speed gain is insignificant. since you already have a ssd, why not just get a mobo that can support sata 3 to fully utilize the ssd performance.. 

Change mobo to support Sata3.

Mine is Win7 64Bits Ultimate. SSD Plextor 128GB M5Pro. You see me used up 72% still capable to boot my OS in less than 10seconds.

I used SSD in a Sata 2 mobo to replace HDD (blue), the performance indeed show significant performance.
Loading window faster, opening program instantly instead waiting it loading, despite being bottled neck by Sata 2.
(even run in ide mode as the mobo showed significant lagging in detecting ACHI drive, don't know why, as well problem in detecting Cd-rom, so installed in IDE mode to give it a try).
Replacing HDD with SSD is one of most significant improvement that user can feel on the upgrade.

Try other benchmark 1st.

My lite-on S900 256GB stopped working without warning after about 1.5 years also whereas my older Plextor M5 is still working fine. Strange since both should be using the same marvell controller and toshiba nand.

Thinking about getting the Transcend 370 as replacement.
