Hi Sifu's

Been looking through this forum but there is no good thread re microSD card
So I guess I will hijack this thread, microSD is technically an SSD too?
Been doing a lot of testing on my current microSD cards, before using it on my Honor 7.

been using:
H2testw - test for real capacity
CrystalDiskMark5_0_3 - test speed

Android: - not done any test using any android phone yet but i have install the following:
A1 SD Bench - any good?
SD Insight - any good?
is there a H2testw equivalent on android?

microSD: price varies with speed and brand.
Kingston
Samsung evo
Sandisk

eg my Sandisk from Lazada
Sandisk Ultra 64GB 48MBPS microSDXC

CrystalDiskMark = R41, W34 (i guess speed is acceptable)
H2testw = Verify(Read) 35MBps, W18MBps

Not sure why there is a large different in Write speed, as all my other mSD are similar ie R17,W9
both case I put microSD to adapter plug to my Zenbook UX305FA SD slot.
Quick Format exFat before each test, allocation table default.

The above card is my best card I have got, others are old and slow stuff not worth mentioning.

Interesting thing with my:
16gb usb3 sandisk otg duo fat32
CrystalDiskMark = R37, W26
H2testw = Verify(Read) 102 MBps, W21MBps (some really strange Reads speeds)

Interestingly Samsung microSD evo series claim its magnetic proof. (besides water, xray, shock proof)

In my next purchase I think I may get a Samsung instead of a Sandisk coz of this reason. But Kingston for the same price I get about double the Read speed.

Dont really care about Read speed 40-80MBps already good for me.
What Samsung/Sandisk/Kingston dont state is their Write speed, I know they will do minimum 10 but 20-30+ would be nice.

Sandisk Ultra 64GB 48MBPS microSDXC from Lazada (Arche Tech) RM75 12.12.15 flash sale
http://www.lazada.com.my/newest-version-sa...rd-3002624.html

32GB above version sale now RM45 before 10% off UOB
24.1.16 was RM48 with AJL30 voucher glitch I paid RM18 hehe packed and ready to post.

Samsung 32GB 48MBps is RM52 including postage
http://www.lelong.com.my/samsung-48mb-s-cl...7-01-Sale-I.htm

Kingston 32GB 80MBps is RM47 including postage
http://www.lelong.com.my/kingston-80mb-s-c...7-01-Sale-I.htm

http://www.lelong.com.my/sandisk-48mb-s-mi...7-01-Sale-I.htm

Kingston 80MBPS disk are similar price as SanDisk/Samsung 48MBps.
Any recomendations? reliable, price/performance.

After doing bit of googling I have came across some info I think may be interest to you guys.

My main idea was to use a cheap card that provides decent sequential read/write, fast random read/write.
Purpose was to extend storage on ultrabook, zenbook, macbook air/pro etc.... by using the SD slots but they are usually halfsize
There are halfsize SD card adapters around that you can buy. Comes in 15mm - 20mm choose correct to make it flush with your ultra book.

Another option is to by Transcend JetDrive, amazon review says it works for other ultrabooks too eg zenbook, but they are very expensive and random read/write speed sucks. plus some people report have issue with going sleep/hibernate.

------- Sequential -------
Samsung EVO microSD 32GB Sequential Read 44.4 MB/s, Write 19.1 MB/s --- affordable card

Samsung microSDHC Plus 32GB Sequential Read 71.44MB/s, Write 20.08MB/s --- expensive card
Samsung Evo Plus microSD 128GB Sequential Read 84.9 MB/s, Write 19.7 MB/s --- expensive card
SanDisk Extreme Pro microSDXC Sequential Read 90.9 MB/s, Write 74.7 MB/s --- expensive card

------- Random large-block transfers -------
Samsung EVO microSD 32GB Random Read 43.9 MB/s, Write 32.0 MB/s --- AMAZING random Write
Samsung microSDHC Plus 32GB Random Read 67.35MB/s, Write 20.04MB/s

Samsung Evo Plus Random Read 79.5 MB/s, Write 3.9 MB/s --- LAME random write
SanDisk Extreme PRO microSDHC Random Read 87.6 MB/s, Write 13.4 MB/s --- LAME random write but fast sequential write

SanDisk Extreme Plus Random Read 85.9 MB/s, Write 43.8 MB/s
SanDisk Ultra Random Read 43.98MB/s, Write 2.45MB/s --- LAME random write

Kingston microSD Card Class 10 UHS-I U3 great speed, but expensive
http://www.legitreviews.com/kingston-64gb-...review_157468/2

Conclusion
Samsung 32GB EVO microSD Memory Card (MB-MP32D) is a cheap card that provides decent sequential read/write, fast random read/write.
Not sure now to find this model MB-MP32D / MB-MP64D in Malaysia

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This guy J. Yang from amazon did an amazing review, I have copy and past it here.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had the opportunity to compare the performance of the fastest microsd cards currently available from top manufacturers. All cards mentioned in this review are obtained from Amazon during the last week or two except when noted otherwise.

Test Setup:
Lexar Professional workflow UR1 microsd card reader was used for all tests except when noted
CrystalDiskMark 5.0.2 x64 was used to produce all the test results and was set up with 2 passes and 100MB read/write size
All cards up to 32GB are formatted as FAT32 with 32KB allocation unit size, all 64GB cards are formatted exFAT with 128KB allocation unit size

Test Results (Numbers are Sequential Read, Sequential Write, 4K Random Read, 4K Random Write in MB/s, speeds greater than 10MB/s were rounded to the whole numbers)

16 GB Alphabetically
Lexar 633x** -- 88, 25, 8.7, 1.2
Panasonic U3** -- 93, 42, 11, 0.7
Sandisk Extreme Pro -- 95, 80, 7.6, 2.6

Lexar 1000x -- 92, 56, 12, 1.5
Lexar 1000x with Bundled Reader* -- 153, 66, 11, 1.7
Patriot EP -- 81, 22, 11, 0.6
PNY Turbo Performance -- 92, 54, 6.9, 0.9
Samsung black -- 82, 20, 8.8, 2.1
Samsung Pro gray -- 90, 80, 10, 3.5
Samsung Pro+ *** -- 92, 86, 10, 5.3
Sandisk Extreme Plus**** -- 92, 58, 10, 2.8
Sandisk Extreme Pro - 97, 91, 10, 3.0
Sandisk Ultra ***** -- 46, 16, 7.0, 2.1

Sandisk Ultra -- 92, 19, 6.4, 2.4

* The Lexar 1000x card is the only UHS-II card available and tested, the bundled USB reader has extra pins for reading UHS-II card
** Came bundled with a device
*** Purchased from a large west coast electronics retailer. This card is a new release and not currently available on Amazon. It is different from the gray-colored Pro card
**** old model tested, not the current U3 model
***** old model tested

Fastest Sequential Read:
All tested cards were able to accomplish > 90MB/s, with the Lexar 1000x able to take advantage of UHS-II speed when using the bundled USB reader and leading the pack

Fastest Sequential Write:
Sandisk Extreme Pro, Samsung Pro+, Transcend Ultimate 633x

Fastest Random Read:
Kingston 90R/80W.

Fastest Random Write:
Samsung Pro+

Best overall:
Samsung Pro+ and Sandisk Extreme Pro

Other observations:
Performance and price are not proportional when it comes to selecting a microSD card. Some of the worst performing cards in this review also happen to be the most expensive.
Not all 633x cards are created equal. The two cards reviewed from Lexar and Transcend are both marked as 633x but vary in performance greatly.
4k video recording using action cams and drone cameras have a typical bitrate of 60mbps or 100mbps, corresponding to 7.5MB/s to 12.5MB/s. All cards in this review should theoretically be able to handle this usage easily.
Using microsd card as supplemental phone storage potentially could benefit from a faster card,

Best Looking Card (if it matters):
Sandisk Extreme Pro: Red/Gold with white print
Lexar 1000x: White/Gold with Black/White print
Samsung Pro+: White/Black with a red stripe and Black/White print
PNY Turbo: Lime Green/Black with Black/White print

Update 9/14/2015: Added additional cards to the list.

SDD help decide

need decide quick need to confirm order today/tomorrow.
-simple office use condition.
-must be reliable, less break down history
-speed not a concern as its ssd its already fast enough
-prefer cheaper if possible but not as important as reliable.

Here is my shortlist from the supplier whom going to built my PC (not much choice)
RM 209 Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB
RM 220 SAMSUNG 2.5” 650 SERIES 120GB SSD
RM 249 TRANSCEND 370S SERIES 128GB

I assume all are 3 year warranty.
Kingston Hyper x is cheap any good? but dont trust Kingston SSD since V300 bait/switch
Samsung 650 (3D V-NAND) not much is know with this product, but its samsung should be reliable?? probably bit slower
Cant find liteon 120GB version from my supplier

May concider upgrade.
RM 402 LITEON 900S 256GB SSD SATA3 (PX^^SCS-256L9S)
RM 396 LITEON 2.5“ MU2 240GB SOLID STATE DRIVE (PX-PE3-CE240)
RM 405 Kingston HyperX Fury 240GB SSD SATA3 (SHFS37A/240G)

I could possibly buy SSD from another supplier if price is right, eg Sandisk, Liteon, evo 120gb version
any recommendation welcome.

^^250GB Samsung 750 EVO

http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Storage/Samsu...-Return-2D-NAND

try get at least 2xx GB don't use 12x GB anymore.
*
Dont really want to spend too much $$, as its just simple office work, need reliable performer, not speed/storage space.
later if she needs storage, i just ask her to get a USB 1TB for RM200 or install a proper 1TB 3.5" HDD for similar price.

HyperX Fury is reliable, using one, not a single problem
*
ok my short list is now
RM 209 Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB
RM 211 SanDisk X300 after voucher (apps only CNY28) RM183 !!
http://www.lazada.com.my/genuine-128gb-san...sd-1790261.html

I think I stay with Sandisk not because its cheaper after discount
but because i think they are more reputable and they make their own 1st tear chips, kingston buys chips from dont know whom.

what you think stay with Sandisk?

------- update -------

RM 239

of the three, relatively speaking, kingston fury is the slowest; while samsung 750 evo 120gb has the lowest guaranteed endurance of 35tb tbw. (x300 has 72tb; kingston has the highest, 2.75dwpd)

for common use and as a os drive only, value/entry-level ssds should be good enough. your main concern is apparently about costs only, so just get sandisk.

how did you get the difference of MYR66 between 750 evo and x300?

RM183 after voucher = RM 211 SanDisk X300 after voucher (apps only CNY28) RM183 !![SIZE=7]
http://www.lazada.com.my/genuine-128gb-san...sd-1790261.html

after voucher RM181 Kingston also cheap (-RM28 lazada voucher)

ops typo its RM56 difference sandisk vs samsung not RM66.

kingston said its tlc chip and sanforce controller i though thouse not as good?
sandisk x300 business class i think its tlc too? marvel controller?
samsung 750 evo, 3d nan? controller?

can i say sandisk > kingston any day? in terms of reliable failure rate.
kingston very popular in malaysia,
amazon kingston not so popular, same as scandisk, samsung rulls all by huge margin.
samsung is expensive otherwise i would had choose it
