wan to ask, if use credit card to pay for air ticket. is credit card company cover some travel insurance?

benefit sure lower than travel insurance but worth to do it? got to pay extra about 2%. worth it?
*
Hard to say. I have a delayed luggage and the credit card's insurance paid me more (based on how much I can spend after how many hours) than the travel insurance (paid a fixed sum after how many hours).

Again hard to say. Different credit card have different condition. Some doesn't need it to buy air ticket and as long as you use your CC overseas, you are covered.

some card like some Standard Chartered's doesn't require you to use their CC to buy air ticket to qualify for their travel insurance. All you need to do is, once you landed in a foreign country, use the card once and you are covered.

I guess there will always be complain against all the insurance companies. Just your luck I suppose.

If you look through the small print, sometime even the free credit card's insurance pay more for some cases. But then how many of us look through the small print?

So I guess many of us buy insurance for sake of buying in case something drastic happen.

Truer words have never been spoken.

IMO, everyone should take the time and go through their respective insurance company's claims form at least once.

This is to get a rough idea on what documents/proof you will need for when the time comes.
*
For airport mishaps, I think there are only 2 documents you need to know of but I could be wrong.

1. Flight irregularity report
2. Luggage/Baggage irregularity report.

Nowadays, for luggage mishaps, I think most airline now have online tracking system with information like when your luggage was reported delayed/missing and when you got it etc. If so, it's pretty easy to claim for compensation because all you need to do is give the insurance company the tracking number. So make very sure you got your tracking number.

I'm curious, so what if you buy those travel insurance with the airlines when you buy your flight tickets and then you also buy another travel insurance from the insurance companies themselves.

Can you claim both?
*
Depends. Sometime/something can, sometime/something can't.

For example, the airline confirm you lost your luggage.
You can claim from both insurance. It have happened before but can't guarantee it will always happen that way.

I guess because that's a necessary document. Thus did you manage to claim? You can always contact the airline and check - see if they can email a copy to you.
*
Purchased insurance
Airline had confirm delay by already providing flight irregularity report

Just because don't have the boarding pass, they are refusing compensation.

Just the typical excuse not to pay. Pretty common occurrence.

I think can argue this way:
1. In policy, it only says YOUR flight delayed which you PAID for. Not that you MUST be on that flight, right?
2. Since airline already confirm flight delayed, can claim?

3. Claimed for baggage delay previously. You need official note/memo from the airline baggage handler (get at the airport) and also the official note/memo when the luggage is finally delivered to you (get from the delivery personnel). Submit along with your boarding pass. About 1 ~ 2 week, claim approved, money in the bank  cool2.gif

Boarding pass. Some ask for it and some don't. Luggage Irregularity report.

No one could have given you any advice until you have received your travel insurance policy agreement anyway. Read carefully at the policy agreement. DO Beware of! I do notice most travel insurance offer at bolehland does not cover up us from illness. It states that very clearly in the policy for accident medical fee up to rm500,000.00 and so so only. but it does not cover up us from falling ill at overseas. Is best we have another travel insurance coverage at the country we were visiting for. Lastly, choose a local travel insurance company which has an international support phone number for assistance, rather than those insurance company which requested us to make a call back to bolehland for assistance.
*
Are there any insurance covering falling ill while overseas traveling?

Accident treatment can be outpatient or inpatient. So what if one have a heart attack while overseas when there are no accidents?

I took a look at a travel policy and it says "accidents or sickness" are covered. So going by those wording, medical treatment not due to accidents may be covered.

You may have missed out the clauses which stated it very clear that you will have to bear for the medical expenses oversea first and make a claim later on? Pls read n read n don't just know how to have sok sendiri sja like fellow Malaysians DO! Or else, you will land into trouble when you were falling sick at overseas.lol. Will your family can afford to have pay for your medical expenses at oversea at the first place? Choose an insurance company which can offer us with cashless medical hlpe.
*
I am merely saying you can claim. I say nothing about how you can go about it.

Please read n read more carefully.

If we have medical insurance, can we use it overseas as well?
*
I think the answer is Yes with qualification.

For example. You have a heart attack and treating you cost RM 100K in Malaysia. Since you are in Australia and it cost A$ 200k, the insurance company will still only give you RM 100K compensation or A$ 30K. The balance A$ 170K you have to pay yourself.

Your premium is paid in Ringgit. I assume if you have paid your premium in A$ (which I presume will be more expensive if you convert to RM), then you may have a point.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but hoping someone can help me with this.

I am staying in Malaysia, is a citizen in Malaysia and holds Malaysian passport. I am NOT a citizen of Singapore nor do I hold work permit or PR status. So, what happens if I bought a ticket and depart from Singapore? (Not transit, but just a ticket that departs and returns to Singapore).

I understand my Malaysian travel insurance doesn't cover departures from non-Malaysian airports. And I can't get Singapore's travel insurance because I am not a citizen, PR or with work permit.

What options do I have? Is the only option going through those global insurance like World Nomads or Bupa?
*
I fail to understand the need if:

1. Medical. Well, you are not far from any Malaysian hospitals.

2. Flight delay. Well, you are not exactly far from home and in a foreign country.

3. Luggage. I suppose you have residence in malaysia and singapore. So any delay isn't a big problem.

On minus side..etiqa tripcare coverage for travel inconvenience and damages benefits is a bit inferior to AXA..

Nevertheless cashless admission pawn them all.

Btw..if i buy both AXA and Etiqa and something bad happen ..can i claim both (other than medical coverage)?

Ie: my baggage got damaged so can i claim from etiqa and AXA? Or i died during travel..can my heir claim death benefit from both?
*
Once did claim from 2 insurance companies. Not sure whether I was lucky or it was the norm.
