Hmm, Chubb seems to cover Iran. First time I've seen insurance covering Iran. Going to Iran on January.

Chubb is good? Never heard of it to be honest.

Chubb is actually known as ACE Jerneh before this. They had their name changed this year June. Its an American company

Cathay is using Chubb..but seems cheaper to buy seperately..

Airline insurance is different with comprehensive/full range product. I guess it was cheaper because there is 25% discount biggrin.gif

QUOTE(air_mood @ Oct 13 2016, 12:09 PM)
Reliable then? If it is then I guess I'm buying it from here instead of getting it in Tehran during arrivals.

Haven't bought my insurance yet for US as well, may consider Chubb if it is reliable.
*
They might not be long in the market compared to AIG & AXA but they are competitive. Cathay, Malindo, Tiger air are using Chubb so its up to you to decide if they are reliable smile.gif

QUOTE(air_mood @ Oct 13 2016, 12:19 PM)
What are the dates you usually input for travel insurance by the way? Especially for long flights. Say I'm going to the US. Depart KL 11th, transit Saudi Arabia 11-12, reach us 12. Coming back depart US 28, transit Saudi Arabia 29 and reach KL 30.

Do you buy insurance to US from 12-28? Or from 11-30?
*
Usually for travel insurance it start to cover you when you depart from home so you will have to enter from 11-30 Oct. Though most of the benefits only start covering you in foreign country but PA start when you depart home..

The only thing probably dissuading me from buying Chubb might be the lack of a rental car coverage. AXA seems to have that.
*
True lor Chubb don't cover that. But how much is the max payout RM1k? IMO lar, I think you will have to evaluate & see what is most important to you. Since you will be in the State for about 16 days, I think medical protection is the most important piece here as you know medication there is so expensive..

And after rate conversion how much left to cover you? This is just my opinion lar of course it's fully up to you to decide. I'm not paid to sell Chubb or any other insurer haha

For those with credit cards that provide travel insurance (if your tickets are charged to it), do you still double-tap into buying a separate travel insurance?
*
just make sure you check what is covered but usually insurance offered by CC is not as comprehensive as the normal one

Tune Protect is pretty much like any other travel insurance. It covers all airlines.

I've been on AXA for many years, did many claims. But as any insurance company, after a few claims, they will reject my renewal. I'd still recommend it. Easy claim process and efficient so far.
*
You are wrong. They don't reject your renewal after a few claims unless they suspicious something. If AXA really reject you due to that reason you mentioned, then i guess AXA ain't that good..

I'm so curious why you guess have not done any research on Chubb Travel Insurance. No maximum age limit with unlimited overseas medical expenses. Not good enough? blink.gif

I have been curious about travel insurance. I always buy one when I travel but touch wood, so far had not need to claim anything.

A friend told me that her luggage was checked in luggage was broken (the lock and pincode part totally missing). She file for claim but was told that they will only reimburse for repair. Is it true?

Also, if really pay back a luggage to us, how do insurance company determine the claim amount? Do I have to keep the broken luggage's original receipt when I bought it?

Same as if luggage delay, insurance will "reimburse the Insured
Person for purchase of essential items such as toiletries and clothing." say up to RM800. Do insurance really reimburse if I buy Locitane shampoo, body shower? Or we have to keep to drugstore brand and cheap clothings? And the size of the bottle and the number of clothing?

Looking for people who had experience in getting their claim to share their experience.
*
Luggage damaged - Yes most of the insurer will only reimburse back the repair cost to which they deem fit. You can either send for repair first and submit in the receipt for reimbursement. Or submit proof of purchase so they can apply appropriate depreciation %. Means here you will have to keep the original receipt lor..
Usually insurer will not compensate much for baggage damaged because claimant tend to cheat/lie and take advantage on insurer for this benefit.

Luggage delay - Most insurer will pay you a lump sum of amount depends on their t&c and not on reimburse basis. Like you said, if you buy branded, takkan insurer will reimburse back to you? But what you mentioned above " reimburse the Insured Person.....", may I know which insurer? I also want to study study a bit for my own knowledge. biggrin.gif

Dear all,

Let's say I am going to Indonesia from Penang with transit at KL. The trip is 5 days. The flights would be Penang <-> KL <-> Indonesia. The flights are from the same airline. Do I need to buy 2 seperate travel insurance in order to have full coverage? Meaning International travel insurance to cover the KL <-> Indonesia and domestic travel insurance to cover Penang <-> KL? Or just buy the international travel insurance will do? Just worry about issue that may be encountered during the connecting flight. Connecting flight transit time should be less than 8hrs. If to purchase both domestic and international travel insurance, is it correct to put 2 days coverage for my domestic insurance? and 5 days for international insurance? Thanks and have a nice day.
*
Most of the insurer don't require you to purchase both Dom & Intl since you are just transiting.
If you did not roam out from the airport you should be fine with just Intl plan.

Dear blackburry, thanks for your informative reply. May I ask if that means in case my luggage is lost or delayed and I only found out when back in Penang after the trip, so that means the insurer will compensate the lost/delayed of the luggage? Or can they deny the claim by saying it is only up to KL coverage and my luggage could have lost during the domestic transit and they are not covering it since the insurance I buy is international insurance? Another example would be if my domestic flight from Penang to Kl got delayed and I miss the connecting flight from KL to Indonesia, will I be compensated by the insurer since the travel insurance is ‘International’? Because by definition from the insurer ‘International’ means from KL to outside country. Thanks a lot!

Before I comment further I need to know which insurer you plan to buy from? Because different insurer has different T&C I dont want to give you wrong information..

This year I have few company trips and personal trip. My company dont provide travel insurance. So, may I know, which company offer travel insurance and will it cover every country (my case is sri lanka, japan and korea), or do I need to buy separate for each country? Thank you!
*
If you travel so frequent i suggest you to take annual plan. Hassle free. But take note on the maximum no. of days per trip, usually up to max 90 days per trip. Most insurance company will exclude war countries so if you did not travel there it's fine.

my vacation in melborne will be 9days, can i prolong the travel insurance coverage to 10days? as the price is same as 9days

noted chubb insurance is quite good for its unlimited oversea expenses, however reading through the clause that the insurance company can arrange transfer of patient from oversea to local if they find the medical expenses it too much compare to local, with the certify from the physician that patient is stabile for transfer, then will be back to local medical expenses which is 50k. Correct of i m wrong

Can issue up to 10 days.

I believe you refer to Medical Evacuation? It means here that they will transfer you to a more adequate hospital (overseas or locally) if the hospital you admitted is not capable to treat you. Should a follow up treatment need to be done after you return home, then you are able to do so within 30 days with max limit 50k.
