For US, you'll need to make sure it covers US. It's the most expensive coverage area. Zone 3 or something.Travel Insurance

Anyone has MAS email for me to email my boarding pass to? I can't seem to find on the website Usually in such events, I'll get MAS to issue me a letter there and then. QUOTE(aspartame @ Nov 3 2016, 07:37 PM) May I know how much roughly the compensation for baggage delay and flight cancellations? It depends on which package you purchase. Also, is it better to just "add on" insurances provided as an option by MAS or Airasia or is it better to purchase on our own? Do you all get travel insurance even for short 2 to 3 days trips to Singapore, Jakarta or Bangkok? Thanks! https://digital.axa.com.my/travel-insurance...for-annual-trip https://digital.axa.com.my/travel-insurance...for-single-trip The compensation amount is also slightly different for single and annual insurance. For baggage delay, it's RM200 for every 6 hours. Up to a maximum of RM800 or RM1600 depending on plan. If you don't travel much, it's convenient to just "add on" those insurance when you purchase your flight ticket. Some credit cards also cover travel insurance when you use it to purchase your flight tix. I buy annual insurance since I travel quite a bit and buying it individually will just be more expensive. So doesn't make sense for me to buy individually from the airline company each time. Yes, short trips also covered. For AXA Smart Travel Annual, only domestic trips are not covered. That one separate buy. |

QUOTE(sdin3269 @ Mar 5 2017, 09:36 AM) Wah you so unlucky one ka? i only had one medical claim, other than that such as fligh delays never until I can get compensation. Haha. The more you travel the more you are at risk of such things I guess.Or maybe I'm just unlucky but yea the insurance company will reject those that are unlucky, as usual. |

QUOTE(WaCKy-Angel @ Mar 15 2017, 12:57 PM) Want to ask what is the difference between insurance addon purchased during AirAsia vs other companies like Tokio Marine? Pretty much the same. Policy terms and sum insured maybe differ by a bit.this is the online quotation from Tokio Marine [attachmentid=8595447] AirAsia one covers for that trip that you fly with AirAsia only. I buy travel insurance from other companies for annual coverage as I travel with other airlines too. |

QUOTE(WaCKy-Angel @ Mar 15 2017, 01:30 PM) Does that means AirAsia covers for any medical claims or other personal injuries during the trip? or just like baggage lost or flight delay? It depends on your travel type really. I do have other flights from Korea to Jeju and from Jeju to Busan only back to Msia.. So conclusion is its better to buy directly from insurance companies rather than AirAsia? If I'm not mistaken, the insurance sold when you buy ticket with AA, it covers medical claims and all that as well. Not only baggage lost and delays. But if you are taking other airlines, maybe better to get from other companies directly, it's not very expensive and very convenient these days. Tune Insurance also covers everything like other travel insurance. AXA so far is still the best I would say. All can purchase online too. |

QUOTE(rain_von @ Jun 23 2017, 03:33 PM) Tune Protect is pretty much like any other travel insurance. It covers all airlines.I've been on AXA for many years, did many claims. But as any insurance company, after a few claims, they will reject my renewal. I'd still recommend it. Easy claim process and efficient so far. |

QUOTE(blackburry @ Jul 1 2017, 08:22 PM) You are wrong. They don't reject your renewal after a few claims unless they suspicious something. If AXA really reject you due to that reason you mentioned, then i guess AXA ain't that good.. Based on my experience with insurance companies, be it travel or otherwise, this is what I realize always happen la. All my claims are legit and genuine with proper paperworks and evidence. I travel more, I purchase annual insurance, hence the risk of a claim is higher and it's not profitable for them I guess. I still recommend AXA to my friends and family and they have no issues with them so far. If I recall correctly, they couldn't give me a proper reason why they do not wish to renew my policy. I've been with AXA for 6-7 years before they stop renewing my policy. |

QUOTE(cpteoh @ Aug 27 2017, 12:31 PM) As i am going to bring my parents to travel next month, i am looking for travel insurance, but my father is >70 years, i could not find a travel insurance that accept >70 years old. There are not many choices for travel insurance for the elderly. What my relatives do is that they buy from their travel agent. could fellow sifu here advise? any company can accept traveller that >70 years old? my parents are perfectly healthy, but as go travelling oversea, buying insurance for just in case. i found some companies online offer >70 travel insurance, but not sure how reliable these online company is, and it is very expensive, >£400 (mean >MYR2200) many thanks. Definitely not RM2200. My father is on AIG travel insurance and he's way above 70 years old but because of special request from our insurance agent, they still cover him, the premium is around RM800 annually, for all regions including US. So if you're only covering your parents for a certain number of days, I doubt RM2200 is a reasonable price at all. Check with any local travel agencies to see if they have any insurance for elderly people. |

QUOTE(spiderwick @ Sep 25 2017, 02:26 PM) Guys, if there's such thing in insurance for late arrival in airport? Most insurance will have a minimum hours of delay for them to pay you anything. If 2-3 hours usually its nothing.for example, my flight supposed to reach KLIA at 3.15pm but due to bad weather, I only landed in KLIA around 630pm. Can you claim such incident? lol thank you QUOTE(lowlowc @ Oct 9 2017, 12:19 PM) I have been curious about travel insurance. I always buy one when I travel but touch wood, so far had not need to claim anything. Luggage bag - of course only if you repair it. You want them to buy you a new luggage ah lol.A friend told me that her luggage was checked in luggage was broken (the lock and pincode part totally missing). She file for claim but was told that they will only reimburse for repair. Is it true? Also, if really pay back a luggage to us, how do insurance company determine the claim amount? Do I have to keep the broken luggage's original receipt when I bought it? Same as if luggage delay, insurance will "reimburse the Insured Person for purchase of essential items such as toiletries and clothing." say up to RM800. Do insurance really reimburse if I buy Locitane shampoo, body shower? Or we have to keep to drugstore brand and cheap clothings? And the size of the bottle and the number of clothing? Looking for people who had experience in getting their claim to share their experience. Most of these you will need to submit receipts. Keep all your receipts and proof of what you have paid in the past. When my items got stolen during my travels and I claimed insurance, I submitted receipts of my camera, handphones, etc. together with the police report. They will calculate depreciation on the items and there's also a max payment for each item usually. Like my camera was depreciated 60%, depreciation will depend on how old your item is also. When I claimed for luggage delay (more than 24 hours), I submitted receipts that I bought personal and essential items to survive the 24 hours. Yes, they will reimburse as long as you have receipt. So far AXA reimburse me even when I bought normal size bottle of body bath, shampoo, make up remover, various type of clothes (definitely can last for few days), etc. Then again, AXA don't wanna renew my insurance anymore after I had a few travel incidents and claimed from them. |

QUOTE(lowlowc @ Oct 10 2017, 09:50 PM) Interesting.. actually repair will usually more troublesome than buying a new one. Have to take it to the shop we buy, then wait for months for it to be done from manufacturer. Submitted only when I return to Malaysia. You'll have to submit your return flight boarding pass everytime you submit a claim. It's very important that you DO NOT THROW AWAY your boarding pass (both going and return) until you return to Malaysia and the whole trip completed without any issues. It's also good to keep boxes of your personal stuffs, it's a proof to say that you owned the item. This also useful for your own house insurance if your home was broken into. Sometimes the insurance company will request for photos of this. Thank you for telling about the depreciation, I didn't know about that and have been curious how the insurance reimburse the luggage. Sigh.. from traveler point of view, the cost is not about the damaged luggage, more the cost they have to fork out to buy a new luggage. But of course, insurance can't make money if they reimburse a new luggage I got the above quote from AXA brochure. Time for me to keep scan copies of all receipts for items I buy for traveling. Thanks for detailing the claim process. Did you submitted the claim only upon back in Malaysia, or called their assistance number to inform upon discovery of theft? One more question, say I book flight and hotel today 10/10/2017 for travel 1/3/2018 - 5/3/2018. Say if I buy the travel insurance today too, detailing the travel dates. Anything that happens between now and the departure date; say diagnosed with medical conditions that disallow me to travel, or family member's death. Can this be claimable for flight and hotel cost that are non-refundable? Recently I just cancelled a trip (booked Nov16, travel date Sep17), due to family member's serious illness. After going through long process with airlines, I got 20% of my flight fare (which airlines said it's goodwill) and 100% airport taxes. Lost a lot of money because I didn't buy the insurance the very moment I book the flight. I have the habit of buying it 3 days before depart. Do you think if I had bought a travel insurance (separately) on the same day I booked flight, I would have been able to avoid losing money? I think this is claimable. Unable to travel with legit reasons or something. I'm not too sure about this so its best you call AXA directly and enquire about it. Airlines usually don't do refund unless you are the one having the illness and you have a doctor's letter to say you are unfit to travel. Airport taxes are usually refunded 100% less admin fees even if you no show for no reason. It really depends on the insurance you buy. I don't really know much about insurance per trip cause I buy my travel insurance annually (it's not that much if you travel a few times a year). AXA Annual cheapest also like below RM150 a year only. |

QUOTE(fakhree @ Jul 4 2018, 10:14 AM) Hi, Not that I know of. As far as I know, insurance only covers baggage delay when you arrive your destination. Not home country. If you baggage delay when you have arrive back in Malaysia, can you claim from insurance? I didn’t bought insurance cause it was my company’s trip and the company provide travel insurance. But i just found out the insurance did not cover baggage delay if you have arrive Malaysia. |
