QUOTE(Fazab @ Mar 4 2015, 10:49 PM) Check ur gas hob specs first. A lot of hobs with safety valve cannot use fancy high pressure regulators. The one normally sell at hardware shops are ok. Go for safety fire resistant hose, yellow color. They are the trend now. Also I always look for sirim sticker. And test with soap water after fitting. There is only 2 type of regulator in the market. The residential type have 2 type which is lower pressure at the spec of 2kg/hr flow rate and 1.5kg/hr. 2kg/hr are more common. While commercial type is higher pressure which is 6kg/hr. But mostly can adjustable from 0-6kg/hr. For home use get the residential type.

QUOTE(swdee2 @ Mar 4 2015, 04:31 PM) I need some sharing of buying experience. But I found this milux with gas leakage and balance indicator is quite usefull. http://milux.com.my/products/gas-appliance...lator-mgr-ep38/Price is around RM50 plus minus. You have hard time to read the gauge if you put the gas inside the cabinet. The cabinet height prevent you from reading from the top. Unless you put the gas outside.

QUOTE(swdee2 @ Mar 5 2015, 09:12 AM) Good point. maybe can buy a small side mirror from car accessory shop to reflect the reading of the meter. Your purpose to get this kind of regulator is to check gas remaining and leaking? But it is not fullproof. Don't see it solve your problem.

QUOTE(swdee2 @ Mar 5 2015, 09:32 AM) leaking no, but gas remaining yes. Got few time wife cook half way no gas, she jump sky high to the roof. Ha..... Here a simple solution and 100% got gas all year round. Just get a spare tong gas. 1 run out, switch over. And take your time to order another 1. No hurry. Easy solution and no need gauge.

QUOTE(swdee2 @ Mar 5 2015, 05:46 PM) Not everyone have nice big kitchen, space is limited to 1 tong only. 10's a lot for good advice. Finding a space for another tong to have a fullproof solution or just a gauge check. It is up to you, how you weight the seriousness.

QUOTE(Xccess @ Mar 5 2015, 07:29 PM) I bought mine from Ace hardware, I suspected this "Sirim" thing is bullsh!t, bought twice and these regulator feels lousy, once the locking mechanism came apart and causes gas leaked, faster remove it. Bought another one but can hear gas hissing sound when securing onto gas tank. Think I better get one from Singapore when I make a trip there. Don't want my unit to blow up because of these crappy quality regulator. Get those have brand like Milux. It is too cheap for this regulator and quality are crap now.

QUOTE(spikey2506 @ Mar 5 2015, 09:09 PM) Actually Milux can be crappy too. I bought one Milux before. After fixing it to the tong I could hear slight hiasing sound from the regulator even when the stove is off. Took it to the shop to exchange. Changed with Chestar instead. Working till today. Use soap to check the leakage after lock the regulator. Do not use if any bubble come out. As I said, the regulator price now are too cheap. Back to more than a decade, it cost rm30 more if not mistaken.

QUOTE(Xccess @ Mar 28 2017, 12:02 AM) Pardon me for bumping old thread. Ok, so far I've tried Chelstar, guess what? The locking mechanism/lever came apart, so much for safety. Bought a new brand "KHIND", just popped to the new tank last week, very soft hissing sound, applied soapy water and indeed, there's minor leaking, can see small bubble getting inflated. Gonna leave it as it is for now. Have tried at least 4-5 brands, all failed in terms of safety aspect. I'll try to look out for Milux. So bad the quality now. This gas regulator should have straight quality control. This device handling the gas which is fire and explosion.

QUOTE(maiself @ Mar 28 2017, 10:37 AM) since this is gas thread.. i would like to ask.. where to get this kind of connector BSP to Female Horsetail [attachmentid=8653980] This thing quite common in hardware store in UK but not here in Malaysia My Gas Hob use this type of fitting.. After reading all post regarding gas regulator, it seems no specific brand that are really good.. But I will try Cleese Comap afterthis I only see male thread before. But female thread is difficult to find. Try check it at ACE. Go for those big size shopping.

QUOTE(Xccess @ Mar 29 2017, 10:45 AM) My friend is using Clesse, told me working well. Anyway, the fire on my stove is strong even on lowest setting with 2kg/h regulator, maybe this will solve the issue. Try to test it like Current regulator- Boil 1 liter of water take how long. New regulator - Boil 1 liter of water take how long. You know the different.

QUOTE(halcyon27 @ Nov 13 2017, 03:25 PM) What spurred that decision though? Past bad experience with leakage or just personal choice? Seldom cook. I like to eat outside. The gas been leaking out finish rather cooking finish. So stop using it and change to induction since than. Been playing with gas since teenage. I mean servicing/ dismatle cooker, oven, piping etc. Nowaday, I use gas for outdoor only.

QUOTE(halcyon27 @ Nov 13 2017, 05:10 PM) Ok, seems more like a problem are facing until we use the Cleese. There's hint of leakage due to the smell until we switched to using the Cleese. Nowadays, gas run out because other users either never tell that is finished or bother to ask gas tong uncle to being replacement over. There is no smell or anything. I mean leaking finish is because I seldom use. Probably 1 tong can last like 6mth to 10mth. And that is leaking finish more than I cook. I m lazy evrytime have to go to backyard to switch off the regulator.
