Guys. Looking to find a new smart watch.  Will be my first smart watch.. any recommendations or is there any upcoming watch worth waiting?

It looks like a watch and feels like a watch lol

Mine is the Frontier Wifi version with no LTE. The Samsung store rep said no idea when the LTE one might be in, and I suspect MY and SG telcos don't have e-SIM support though I could be wrong.

From the initial hands-on etc since launch, I imagined that 46mm bezel would be too big as my wrists aren't large.
After putting on a demo unit, it actually looked fine.

There are 3 main reasons why I got it.

1. wireless charging.
My Gear S (1st gen) suffered from contact corrosion and I managed to get a warranty replacement. That was kind of Samsung. Hence, any wearables I get would need wireless charging.

2. Full color AOD.
I read that the S2 had AOD but it was limited to black and white.
I felt that detracted from the aesthetics of the whole smart device aura. Full color AOD would make it feel just like a real watch.

3. Step tracker
After using the Gear S1 for about 18 months, I had grown fond of the step tracker, moreso than even the 3G/calling function. In fact I rarely used the calling function after the first month, and running 3G/calling killed the battery in about 6 hours.

One last reason would actually be generic Android support, which allows tethering to any Android 4.4 or greater. This is actually how any kind of wearable should be done. Screw the proprietary platform greedy bastards.
After 3 days of use, the battery seems to be able to last approx 30hours based on my usage pattern.

An entire day of 12-14 hours of AOD with step tracking consumed approx 40% battery, so it should hit around 30 hours if I didn't charge it overnight.

Charging is fast IMHO, around 80 mins from 55% to 100%

IT's not heavy, and the strap is a nice textured rubber.

I haven't really tested much of the other functions yet, since my primary use of it is still as a watch with some notification reading and step tracking.

If you ask me, it is ridiculous to read websites on such a small screen. The news reader provides just nice small newsbites which are scrollable and quick to digest.

I will try to answer any questions where possible. And no, I'm not going to install or play any games on it.

Hope you don't mind I ask some really basic question (I've asked before but still very confused).

1) What do you mean by generic Android support as above? what are the advantage we're talking about?
2) Gear S3 is running Tizen OS right? I go Samsung store, those guys insist that it is running Android Wear =.=
3) When I go to Google Play with my Samsung phone, I can see some apps with the watch sign (I assume that is Android Wear) support. Does this means that it is supported with Gear S3 also? How do I know what app can be installed in Gear S3?
4) I always hear people say, it's best to have your smartphone and smartwatch the same brand in order to fully utilize the function. I'm using S7edge right now and I'm thinking between the Gear S3 and Zenwatch3. I really don't know which to choose. Spec wise I'd go with Gear S3 but I still don't understand this Tizen thing.

If you want a watch working with any new phone in market now.

Android Wear is the way to go. It not only support all new Android Phone but also 100% working with iPhone (just not much watch face to choose beside the original bundle watch face and not carry much of third party apps or games).

Tizen watch only work with Android Phone (iPhone in working by Samsung but it is a very long time ago already and still could't get support)

Apple Watch wise only work with iPhone and not support any android phone.

In which case there is no practical difference between the usage for AW and Tizen.

Aside from fapOS compatibility, Tien devices are able to do more than AW, although admittedly at a higher price point.
