All COMPANY are setup to EARN money .. first objective is ROI .. they rebadge LANCER is to gain market share for C-segment car where they do not have a proper replacement htat time.
Everything is about ROI .. yes .. they initially says wanna boost up the localize parts.. but sales LOW.. u still invest in localizing the parts ? pointless right.. juz buy from mitsu and pasang and sell.. simple.. less risk.
Most ppl just tot of LOCAL parts cheaper ma... yea right.. u go ask ppl build something custom for u see cheap or not .. the amount of sales juz does not justify.
Not just proton.. look at other brands... Honda.. Mazda... u ever see manual from them ? RARE right.. becoz market demand is low.. they order production line to do specify model (even lancer have multiple different variant for different country) .. there will be a minumum order.. imagine Honda bring in CIVIC 2.0 Manual .. ops.. before we go there.. just look at the honda CRZ .. out of 10 on the road.. 9 of them are AUTO.. if they sell 10 unit per month .. minimum order is 100 unit per variant.. case for manual will need 100 month to sell off the stock.
