in my case, it never crossed my mind that nerf would come up with the elite line, with its awesome direct plunger system and more effective air restrictor. i thought they would stay with the lame reverse plunger. so i gave up & decided to sell most of my stuff except maverick and longshot.  to my surprise....... sweat.gif

I never thought to be into nerf, but all changed after buying my first nerf... Now addicted badly. Haha.

My friend also started nerf when i brought some to office to play. Nerf should do more roadshow to let people try out their blaster.

haha...you should try the old whistler and suction darts, pre-elite darts. they work with elites too. those are real fun. the suction darts sticks to nearly anything, better than elite suction. great for playing with the kids.

the whistlers are the smaller version of the mega whistlers. works even better with elite blasters.

Yes, suction are fun. My swarmfire uses that, else it will troublesome to collect all the 20 darts.

Got couple if whistler too from hasbro sale, loved the sound it makes, and colour also (easier to collect). Haha.

What I like about the blaster
The blaster is very comfortable for me as an adult (176cm). The battery bay is large which gives potential for for a lot of mods/ battery packs. There's plenty of space for an Arduino which would open up lots of new features such as 3 round burst mode, leds, ammo counters etc.

I like the grip and the triggers they are all very nice once lubed up with teflon. I replaced my trigger spring with a slightly firmer spring i had but that is just my personal preference. The stock springs are pretty dammned nice in the first place.

What I don't like about the Blaster.
In stock form the CS-18 is kinda whimpy especially when compared to the springers like the Retaliator. And with 4 C batteries it is HEAVY!. The semi auto thing also jams a lot which is very annoying. But a LiPo mod and the semi auto delete fixes all those so i dont really care much about that. And the batteries last a whole day and more.

My Conclusion
This blaster is rad. With multiple magazines this thing is a beast. In stock form however its pretty soft with a very low rate of fire like 2-3 darts per second. And C batteries are pretty dammned expensive.

Cheers and Nerf On,
NerfMan

My Nerf N-Strike Longstrike CS-6 is almost 3 years now, got it on Christmas last time. Anyone knows how to mod it for better performance? I checked some YouTube videos, not sure if those performance parts are sold around here.

It's probably one of the longest Nerf guns around but it doesn't shoot far, quite disappointing.

Hey Buddy,
At the very least you could take out the air restrictors (A.R) and seal up the plunger tube with 2 part epoxy. The plunger tube would benefit from some good rubbing with silicon grease or teflon grease to increase the seal.

You would need a dremel to remove the A.R completely. Thats how i do it anyway. These mods don't require any expensive "performance parts" and should give you some noticeable gains. Also throw away the barrel. It only reduces range. You can also take out all of the stupid safetys inside while you are at it as well.

Cheers

Hmm I youtubed a video and the guy drilled a hole at the air restrictor area. Another mod is putting a heavier load spring. Looks pretty hard to do for me, just afraid I mess up since I'm bad at DIY stuff lol

Thanks for the tips by the way, will try to do it one day when I'm brave enough.

Cheers.

But for the Recon MK II should be arrive our local store next year may be.
And don't know if the Hasbro will fix the "clip compatibility issue" or not.
If yes, then should be a wait for this blaster. hmm.gif

Haha yeah hopefully. The performance is also sub elite range lol, around 60 fps only. Quite disappointing really, but I just love the look of it and hopefully the internal upgrade is same as retaliator.

The ion fire is sooooo disappointing man, single Shooting breech loader and the average fps is only 58!?

Okay so..I bought a second Retaliator, thought of doing some internal mods this time.
And also out of curiosity I wanted to know if the AR removal really improved the performance of it.

I had my first Retaliator's AR removed and thought it shoots pretty okay, but never had a chance to do a comparison so I didn't know if it actually improved or not.

Now with the new Retaliator, all stock, it shoots better and harder than my old retaliator without the AR! What the hell? lol

So now my question is, does removing the AR for a direct plunger improve or worsen the performance? Somehow I feel removing the AR has worsened the performance lol. Perhaps the AR removal is only beneficial when you use stronger spring. I have already ordered the Retaliator kit from Orange Mod Works and they are on the way. Will find out soon enough.

But right now, hell yes I love Retaliator, it just shoots so much better than the flywheels (I have a stryfe). Maybe until I decided to mod the Stryfe, I will always prefer the Retaliator. It's just so satisfying to prime and feel the triggers pull, all the mechanical working etc, rather than just the faux trigger for the switch in a flywheels.

I think of 2 reason, one, the old retaliator spring already worn out, two, due to manufacturing tolerance, the older one are at the bottom part, while the new one at the upper part ofthe tolerance band.

Haha.. I thought is old blaster.

I think is because of tolerance... Or you getting a 'lemon'.

Either that or the AR actually helps to focused air.
