not at all. the price you see is the actual real official DS price in Malaysia. we get cheaper stuff elsewhere because those are imported.

What is this hang-up with the words "official" and "authorized" anyways? Has anyone asked if this company is somehow dealing directly with Nintendo of Japan or NOA? In my opinion, official means that Nintendo has suddenly decided to set up a branch in Malaysia. Kinda like how Microsoft's regional centre in Singapore deals with all the Xbox issues.

If you check in Hong Kong, the price of a Nintendo DS and its individual games are actually comparable to the price of imported games down in sungei wang. an official dealer selling them more expensive means a step backwards from there.

My advice? Visit them. It sounds like they actually stock more stuff than most shops in KL. Heck, if they have some old GC titles i want then i might just pop in there. Find out where the chain of warranty goes to. If it sound like a reliable dealership, and your luck with nintendo stuff has been lousy the past few years, then go for it. Just please don't swallow the medicine they are selling just because its "OFFICIAL"

If anyone wonders, I got Minish Cap for RM110 about 3 months after it was released.

to all,

There are way too many ppl who have no idea what they are talking about and to avoid confusion, here's what i can share with you guys about the first official nintendo counter in Malaysia

1. It's by the same distributor in Singapore and they are the official distributor of Nintendo products in this region (SEA) fyi. They are appointed by Nintendo (Japan).

2. The prices are "expensive" because full taxes are paid for all the nintendo stuff brought into malaysia, but in return, all stuff have the official warranty by Nintendo. Like ruff bark said, all hardware offer a 1-for-1 exhange for technical defects for the first 3 months (hinge defects included). No other shop can/will offer that in Malaysia.

3. The counter will only sell official nintendo hardware and software, and official licensed nintendo accessories. no el-cheapo made in china/taiwan accessories here.

4. You can actually order older or Jap games that you're looking for from this counter. No guarantees though but they will try to accomodate your request.

5. there will be more counters like this in jaya juscos around town (and hopefully, around the nation too)

now THERE is information that ought to be in the beginning of the thread. good answers to questions i wonder why people never ask. So how did you find this all out?

heh. just that most ppl dont think to ask the distributor (or lack the means to contact such ppl)

With such issues aside, if the distributor actually does their job proper, I hope we will be able to enjoy events like DS download stations (DS sanctioned ones rather than dubious 2 hour random location ones), weekend gatherings, Contest events, Utada Hikaru coming to malaysia to play tetris with us*..... whistling.gif

So would be good to put some support for these people.

the last may be a lofty dream, but sometimes its dreams that allow us to get through another day.
