Hey forummers and admin i was wondering if its better that we had all the replies posted on our "topics" to also be displayed on our main page feed like our messages?
I mean we get replies to our posts but we dont get replies to our topics on the main page

What you guys think?

Hmm I can't really visualize what you're saying. Can you sketch out (ms paint or on paper) what you'd like to see?

Hmm okay its like this
You see on the top right of your page if you have any unread messages or any replies to you right?
The replies are shown to your posts or comments right

But if i want to sell something and post the ad, if people comment on my topic i dont get a notification for that.
I have to go to my topic and open it to make sure that if anyone has commented or not
So thats what im hoping for. a notification for people commenting on YOUR topics

Hope this clarifies it biggrin.gif

There's actually a way to achieve that, but I can make it easier:

1) When you create your topic, tick "Enable email notification of replies?". I think I'll change this to be ticked by default.

2) For any topic including your own, look for "Track this topic". You can track it with or without email notification, either way it will notify you when there are replies. I'm not sure how I can make this feature more obvious, or maybe it's fine the way it is.

I still prefer if the notification reply is if someone reply to me, not whenever someone update the thread. Just my personal preference anyway..... icon_rolleyes.gif

And the notification still show, even if I am not the thread starter rclxub.gif

As TS of one of the threads in FnF subforum, it is very confusing...

and to a certain extent, annoying.

Any suggestions on how to improve it?

BTW you can opt out by unsubscribing your thread in the control panel.

I use the track topic function to topics i started, or even other topics created by somebody else.

However, it will be nice if user were asked to track topic once he opens new thread, user can select yes or no to it.

Not really liking this feature.

What if the forumer is trolling/disrespecting/ranting etc.

I don't want to read such crap.

I only wish to read those whom replying to my postings.

I don't like it. In J&C I have a couple of topics that aren't "Topics that belong to me" but rather "Topics that I opened on behalf of a sub-community." For these threads yes I am the TS but 80% of the discussion going on I don't want to know about.

*
currently 2) is how I track my topic.

My opinion is: 'track without email notification' should be by default enable for all topic creator. And add option to allow them disable it if too annoying.

Works well for me.

Probably admin should come up with an disable option for users that do not want this function.

Ehhh ... Now every topic that I had replied, will auto notify me if there's someone comment.

I don't think that is what we need. I mean it should be 'Topic Creator' who will receive all notification on new comment in his topic. Commenters however will only receive notification when someone replied or tag him/her.

Unless the 'commenters' have subscribe to that topic, else there's no need to notify every single new comment posted in that topic.

i would suggest that it would be be better if it automatically send an email notification to me on the thread that i open. SO that i can follow my thread and i do not need to go to suscribe it manually.

Personally as a Seller, I preferred to have categorised notification.
A) Topic Replies (10)
B) Inbox Replies (5)
& a Combo email notification of both CONSTANTLY for efficiency.

^Additional Function^ *Users get to choose to continue following the topic or unfollow when you're done with the deal*

I'm an Entrepreneur who constantly revolutionise the ways we do things in many segments of businesses.

Looking forward to see this system being implemented on this amazing platform!

Can give the option to not see replies to a thread?

Just getting notifications for direct reply's like the last time was good enough.

I think applying it in Garage Sales is enuff. Coz the TS there mainly are traders, so knowing that they have potential customers' inquiries or posts are very important to them. If this is implemented in Garage Sales, then it is a very gud move imho. Coz now traders know if someone have posted in their thread.

But I think in places like Kopitiam and Football Lounge this feature is not needed. Imagine if TS for Football Lounge everyday also c those notifications. laugh.gif

But now subscribe to whatever thread replied, it is getting out of hands...

sir, when i was browsing a forum (say 100 pages),
i used the "/all" but it only shows the first 25 pages,
I hope to show all 100 pages if possible.
Is there a way to do this?

There's actually a way to achieve that, but I can make it easier:

1) When you create your topic, tick "Enable email notification of replies?". I think I'll change this to be ticked by default.

2) For any topic including your own, look for "Track this topic". You can track it with or without email notification, either way it will notify you when there are replies. I'm not sure how I can make this feature more obvious, or maybe it's fine the way it is.
*
This good old stuff at the main notice is seldom read. People no read how things work in lyn simply open thread. What is amazing is everybody involve for opinion because of one person's blindness. Like people eat shit others who can't discern hygiene and flit follow go eat shit also.

Let the TS choose if he want to keep track of it or not (the present system). You put up some serious thread and eager for answer then of course you want to track it. You put up some non serious topic in /k want to track for what ler ????

Coz I think those traders are not like 24 hours on LYN. Some of them have physical shop, lelong page and mudah page to manage too. So when they check their LYN via their laptops/phones, they can straight away know how many potential customers have enquired or posted in their sales thread.

Just my opinion, but actually I'm not a trader. laugh.gif

Or maybe when creating a thread in Garage Sales, there is this tickbox for u to subscribe to ur own thread. When ppl post in ur sales thread, then u'll get the notification. Something like that.

Here's an idea. Put a button at opening post of a thread to toggle the reply-to-your-thread-notification on and off.

That way if TS don't want to see reply notification for that particular thread anymore then he can just toggle it off.

boss,

since if replying in the thread make it automatically subscribe to the thread, we get notice whenever got reply on the thread

can u, if possible, to make it unsubcribe automatically when we click 'x' on the notification notice, but subscription maintain when we click on the thread link on the notification notice.

with this can reduce the hassle to go to control panel and unsubcribe 1 by 1
