QUOTE(heliosi @ May 8 2015, 02:51 PM) Your dilemma seems straightforward to me, if Petronas insists on you reporting within a month then you have no choice but to pay your old company the 1 month balance. You could negotiate to have Petronas pay your balance but I think this is quite unlikely if in the first place they were unwilling to extend your reporting date. If I'm interpreting "bail from current workplace" correctly, then ethically it's the wrong decision to make. Better not to burn any bridges, remember that O&G in Malaysia is a small community and word may get around. yes O/G is a small community and news will spread quickly and also most people would work in a complete circle/loop from operator-vendor-contractor.

leave on good terms trust me... if you want to be in this business for the rest of your career... carry a good name... unless you want to be in the company you jump to your whole life... but the kicker would be when your newly hired boss in the future is from your current company... it is small... seriously

QUOTE(Stamp @ May 9 2015, 01:38 AM) Talisman ceases to exist today. Monday Repsol will be the new name. Talisman did not have any deepwater blocks in Sabah; but a couple of shallow water blocks. Yesza. But I thought previously Talisman does have deepwater block? Kinabalu field? I might be wrong.

Spanish O&G has paved their way into Malaysia market. Now we have Repsol (bought over Talisman), CEPSA (bought over Coastal Energy, RSC for KBM Cluster JV with Petra Energy), and Teunicas (RAPID Project).
Interesting.

QUOTE(MasBoleh! @ May 6 2015, 11:21 PM) Seem like O&G is not doing good due to low crude oil prices globally. I thought they were employed by Shell and been sub to HP? SO technically, still Shell's employee right? I don't feel like i am Shell's Employee. In the end you are just a HP Contractor working for shell only...

So you wake up from the dream But got a lot still dreaming that they are Shell employee. Nowadays companies originating from Europe are down sizing and cutting man power in other countries. Siemens just started another round of 4500 employees after Feb's 7000.
