KUCHING: Jabatan Mufti Negeri Sarawak (JMNS) semalam secara rasminya mengumumkan memakan ulat sagu (mulong) serta mengambil bahagian dalam acara ritual ‘miring’ dan kaul adalah haram dan dilarang dalam Islam.

Oleh yang demikian, Mufti Negeri Datuk Kipli Yassin menasihatkan agar umat Islam mengetahui perkara berkaitan keputusan fatwa itu dan tidak lagi terkeliru pada masa hadapan.

“Bagi umat Islam, mereka tidak boleh menjalankan upacara ‘miring’ atau mengikut ritual semasa Pesta Kaul kerana ia ada melibatkan kepercayaan yang bertentangan dengan ajaran Islam dan hukum syarak.

i think what mufti trying to say is that eating the ulat during the ritual.

no need to understand,,, religion is to follow not to be persoal.. that is why you have these bodies of supposedly expert people deciding how to live your life. after all religion is faith. its not science where the dogma is to question everything..

mengikut mazhab syafie, segala jenis ulat dalah haram dimakan, kecuali jika termakan tak apa, contoh termakan adalah termakan buah yang berulat, niat nak makan buah dapat ulat pulak. jadi tidak apa. dimaafkan kerana tidak sengaja.
jadi ulat sagu, tidak termakan, tapi diambil untuk dimakan, hukum haram, kerana malaysia ikut mazhab syafie.

I believe he included the ritual thingy altogether, minus the ritual, eating ulat and bugs supposedly consider not haram in Islam unless it can cause disease and harm to your body, wallahua'lam.
