I am wondering that Maxis have silently disable the Admin login and reconfigure their router to not allowing telnet/ssh via terminal anymore. If you can see on the logs, they have words "Configuration modified by TR69". These TR69 capable client (so called Maxis gateway) is connected to ISP Auto Configuration Servers (ACS) and allowing update of the router configurations.

So that being said. All porno and illegal stuff will not be viewable even though you did set to Google DNS in the computer.

they dint disable ssh, but they either disable the administrator account or changed the default password.

i face the same thing so i fired up my old unifi router (dir-615) wit openwrt.

i hav 3 questions on the tp-link Archer C5v router:

1) to improve security, i know can log in as administrator using the SN & change the password. but how about user/user? how do i change the password for this?

2) is there any backdoor to turn off TR-069, aka the CWMP settings?
this setting basically allows maxis to collect data & also force certain settings in your router.

3) how do i effectively change DNS?
i know it's in the DHCP server -> LAN, but changing DNS there doesn't seems to giv any effect, maybe is bcoz of number 2 above.
i lazy to set DNS on which device, was hoping can set it in the router itself.

maybe som of the question edi been answered in this thread somewhere.
obviously that's a lot to go through. so i hope there som of the forumers here can shed som light.

Number 1 n 2 I don't know. I left it as it is. Number 3 I can set on router itself with no problem. Best is after any settings just restart the router

log in as administrator, go to DHCP server -> LAN, the under optional DNS, input my preferred DNS.
that is correct right?
did i miss any steps?

Correct. Then restart router. Then reconnect devices to see if they are able to get updates DNS

i'll giv it a try again later.
but damn maxis.....cannot change the password for user login is really bummer.
what kind of crappy security is that.

i just installed a new maxis fiber 30Mbps.
speedtest using https://speedtest.maxis.com.my/page1.html get around 29.x to 30Mbps on wifi.
that's normal.
using Lan cable, consistently 28.5Mbps.
i ask maxis y is like that.
they said it's normal that wifi average ~30Mbps, while cable is ~28Mbps

If I'm not mistaken under then QoS from mcmc to the operators they need to sustain a minimum of 90% of advertised speed (or80% I don't remember). So technically it's within their limit.

Like in sg, the actual speed is way less 90% of the time. See attached.

If want exact or advertised speed get unifi, they tend to over provision a little Vs maxis who doesn't.

i understand.
it's the "slower average speed using Lan cable is a norm" from maxis customer service that puzzle me.

Ahh. The CSO not technical person lol. At 30mbps shouldn't be an issue on Lan even on a lower end pc since the CPU isn't stressed much. Try a different cable? Or a different device for lan. Windows is known to constantly use bg data for various stuff. If you have a Linux based device that might show the better result.

probably.
but the CS answer really wtf.
actually i call to request public ip, might as well ask only.
