Hi Just to share. Anyone wanting to dial maxis fiber home with a custom router like TPLink etc but still need to maintain telephone line (VOIP) can do this :

1) Set maxis Thompson Gateway to Bridge Mode + Voip
2) Program your custom router to Pppoe and key in your maxis fiber username password.
3) Connect both WAN ports of Custom Router and Maxis Thompson router to a 5port network switch.
4) Connect the switch to the BTU Lan 2(Huawei or Alcatel)

This way, your custom router will dial the Internet connection and all port forwarding and other management is done with it.

Maxis Thompson router will just function as sip gateway for your telephone line to work.

Try it and report here if it works.

P/s: There are ways to modify BTU by adjusting vlan tagging but I think it only works for Huawei ones. For Alcatel the method I propose works best. Try for yourself smile.gif

I have been using this method for past several months. It works well on a Technicolor TG784n v3. However, TG784n v1 does not have bridge mode + voip. My parents home is still using a v1 modem.

Does anyone know how to modify vlan tagging on a fiberhome BTU?? I have the password to telnet it, but couldn't figure out how to modify the vlan tagging via cmd. If possible, I would like to avoid chaining from BTU -> technicolor -> my router. I would prefer direct connect from my router to technicolor

I have seen some guide around on how to do that. But it will only work if your BTU is Huawei. For Alcatel I think no luck.

guys anyone here maintained 30mbps for RM89? what does your plan name show in mymaxis app? I have received the call and decided to maintain 30mbps and have got an appointment for router change early OCT. My account shows MaxisOne Home 30Mbps, wondering if it is the new one or still the old plan?

hi all, i got my maxis fibernation upgrade done today and new router installed TpLink C5v.

I already have my pfsense box setup to dial the wan and I intend to use the C5v as a wireless repeater for my other room.

Sadly, when i login to router admin page, the options are really restricted as the wan mode only takes pppoe connection. How to make this router function like an AP.

Anyone has been successful to flash official tplink firmware and remove maxis branded firmware?

Please share.

C5v is OEM model. No retail firmware for it.
Turn off your DHCP server on C5v and connect via LAN port. Any router can act as AP. biggrin.gif

Yes that's what I did to get it working as an AP. But if I want to use it as Wifi Repeater that cant be done as the WAN page is restricted.

I hope in coming times someone manage to get DD Wrt or other custom firmware on it to unlock the full potential.

Anyone here managed to flash other firmware on C5v. I know it is a OEM model, but still the internals are similar to a retail version router. If anyone has been successful pls share the steps.
