QUOTE(YoungMan @ Feb 24 2024, 10:18 PM) Here it is, but 2 things: Much thanks.1. This test is done in Kuching on Maxis fibre. ping time may be lower if done from West Malaysia. 2. This Maxis fibre is running under TM infra, not Maxis NGBB or Allo. ] |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Mar 4 2024, 09:38 PM) Yes, I’m sick of Unifi vomiting packet loss and high ping on me almost every night. Will be switching soon. Planned to go my local Maxis center last week but something came up, so hopefully I can find time this week or the next.I hope Maxis give me a physical transfer request form so that I can head straight to a TM Point after that, because I’ve read a few bad stories about TM delaying the transfer if you leaves it to them to contact you for confirmation. Don’t want to go through the hassle of writing a complaint to MCMC in order to expedite the switch. Just checked the Maxis site and they seem to have lowered some of the add-on prices as well, particularly for TVs. Hopefully can snag one that I want. May I ask what state you’re based in, just so I can get a rough idea of relative latency based on your proximity to those servers? Thanks. Couple more questions from someone planning to switch from TM UniFi to Maxis Fiber;
1. Maxis will use the same BTU that was supplied by TM, right? How is the BTU warranty handled after the switch? Do Maxis take over the so called “lifetime warranty” for the BTU, or will I need to pay out of own pocket if it malfunctions in future? 2. With regards to reporting faults or connection troubleshooting, do they have a helpline, and is it responsive? I don’t use social media. Also, if using Maxis on TM infra, will contacting Maxis be enough or will I need to ping-pong back and forth between Maxis and TM technicians? Contacted agent today. Switching to Maxis for my family home. Even if they follow TM and block DoT/DoH domains (which I hope they won’t, but always expect the worst, because Malaysia This post has been edited by dev/numb: Sep 5 2024, 10:51 PM BladeRider88 and PRSXFENG liked this post

If switching from Unifi to Maxis Fibre (500Mbps), will they let me keep the old white Huawei box (EchoLife HG8240H GPON Terminal printed on underside label) or will they replace it?
My understanding is that the installer will just plug a CAT cable into a different port on the old Huawei and attach their Maxis Kaon thing (which I plan to replace with an Asus unit anyway), but it’s possible my knowledge is outdated already. |

Thanks for the input PRSXFENG && YoungMan
Hoping I don’t end up with some newcrap all-in-one box that will give problems if I try to put in bridge mode to my own router. |

QUOTE(Oltromen Ripot @ Sep 13 2024, 03:37 PM) cross-posted from Unifi thread. I did walk in initially. The person attending to me knew nothing. Just repeated what I already learned from the website. Also had to scan some stupid QR for number, so now my phone probably infected with Pegasus also. At least agent offered me 3 months free. Maxis staff just offered me sour face.While talking about 4G Backup service, while i do not know if Maxis really did terminate this attractive backup selling point, ... i don't know why everyone advice to deal with agents. i advise, straight walk-in to maxis centre like how i did, every time. the FAQ and TnC below still mention "4G Backup service" here. https://www.maxis.com.my/en/faq/products-se...postpaid-fibre/ https://www.maxis.com.my/en/terms-condition...aid-fibre-plan/ |

Well this is strange. Maxis installation completed just now. Supposedly 500mbps (on unifi infra) but look what I’m getting. This is from the e-waste Kaon router some more.
![]() Could it be due to my old Unifi being 800mbps? Might drop back down to sub-500mbps once the TM side turns off my Unifi? Anyhooz, time to get replace the Kaon with a proper router. This post has been edited by dev/numb: Sep 20 2024, 03:47 PM |

QUOTE(YoungMan @ Sep 21 2024, 09:51 PM) That’s better than having to wait till Monday. It’s my biggest fear with Maxis honestly (or any provider riding on a different provider’s infra). With TM, you wake up each morning and hope for decent performance at night. For Maxis (on TM infra) you go to bed and pray you still have internet the next morning. Got my Public IP configured earlier today. Simple process. 10 minutes on the phone kao dim. They won’t ask you what you plan to do with it. Get your RM10.60 they happy already. |

QUOTE(khainiz94 @ Sep 27 2024, 08:32 PM) Sorry, guys. Do share your experience whenever possible in the Networks & Broadband section. Finally, I cave in and leave Maxis overall. I do hope CelcomDigi Fibre under Digi network performs really well for the upcoming 2 years. Got 6 months FREE fibre + free upgrade to 500 Mbps with RM129 300 Mbps price. Got free TP Link EX510 router included. After 6 months, FREE ended, they will converge my CelcomDigi Postpaid with fibre to CelcomDigi ONE Ultra with special price RM260. Ok la, can save a lot of money overall. [screenshot]] Thank you Maxis Fibre 500 Mbps for providing stable internet for the last 2 years. So far I am happy with it even though I have to deal with LOS 3 times due to cable cut. All the best. Hope CelcomDigi Fibre treats you well. khainiz94 liked this post

Do Maxis users need to play the “IP pool lottery” like Unifi users do? I always seem to get 121.122.xx.xx or 121.123.xx.xx and performance has, for the most part, been decent. Just curious. I’m not living full-time in the house with Maxis so I’m thinking of scheduling automated reboot cycles for that particular router. Previously on Unifi I avoided rebooting the old router as much as possible (outside firmware updates) for fear of losing a ‘good’ IP prefix and would ssh into it to clear caches instead. I’m assuming I no longer have to worry about that with Maxis?

QUOTE(QuantumEdge @ Oct 7 2024, 01:38 PM) Found something interesting, someone posted KAON AR2140's proposal online Must confess I didn’t really explore the Kaon for very long. May have been able to perform better if I played with the channels and other settings, but “out-of-the-box” it was pretty bad and the far lower spec Asus AX59u I replaced it with managed better performance/coverage with the 5Ghz band. Alas, I kind of semi-bricked the Kaon by playing with some of the DHCP toggles and promptly lost interest, did a factory reset, and put it in the box it came with. https://www.scribd.com/document/661239708/T...v-2-261120-pptx According to the document, spec are as following: Main Chipsets BCM6750+BCM43684 NAND 256MB RAM 512MB Wifi 2.4Ghz 2*2, 5Ghz 4*4 OS based on OpenWRT Turns out this thing uses the same tri core processor as Asus AX82u, Tplink AX6000 While using the same 5Ghz chipsets as Asus AX86u, AX88u Anyone actually using this router 24/7? Might be a case of decent hardware (although RAM is low for that level of chipset) being hamstrung by whatever dodgy software overlay Maxis/Kaon put on top of OpenWRT, typical of many ISP issued routers. QUOTE(QuantumEdge @ Oct 17 2024, 09:11 AM) Registered to transfer from Maxis to Unifi, still waiting for Maxis's phone call Just as I switch to Maxis from Unifi via your contact, you’re going the opposite direction. Unifi agent offering 6+2 months free subscription And I dont need to pay an extra RM10 monthly for public IP Total saving: RM149*8 Months: RM1192 (excluding SST) Plus, every month afterwards I save RM10 So basically another RM10*12 Months: RM120 till the day I switch again Next step I'm going to move my RM79 Maxis postpaid to Hotlink, since no more one prime unlimited everything Bye bye Maxis Me now making sad pikachu face. |

QUOTE(ccschua @ Dec 6 2024, 08:25 AM) I need to share my recent episode of fiber broadband outage. I’m more curious about this gate that can’t open without internet connection. Seriously, wtf?!on sat, i experience outage and reported to maxis. I confirmed its upstream of router issue as the unifi light is blinking (means no internet signal from fiber). On tuesday, maxis turn up with telecom/unifi. upon investigate, its the fiber cable that was cut by neighbour when he hired someone to prune his garden. Unifi demand RM 60 to join the cable which I refuse at first saying its not my fault, but gave in to have access to internet. then unifi guy just outright refuse to connect and said need someone else to splice. then no choice, i have to wait another 4 days before the next unifi repair come. this time the guy who come is meant to repair underground fiber. he was not happy why the earlier unifi guy didnt join the fiber. so in the end i have the fiber but waited 7 days without internet (gate cant open without internet). TLDR. corruption is rampant even at service repair guy. i am so utterly disgusted by this. |
