Anyone experienced getting TV device through Fibre+Zerolution route?

Anything I should be concerned of?

That undetermined 70" Sharp (described as Android TV with Play store) looks delicious and I am considering bumping from 100Mbps to either 300Mbps/500Mbps for 36mth.

waiting for stock confirmation before bumping to 500Mbps

Since my own router does not come with VLAN tagging feature, I have a switch that does the work.
I have tried the below setup before, but the phone doesn't came up working.

ONT -> Switch -> (Port 2 with VLAN 621) -> Own router
-> (Port 4 with VLAN 822) -> Maxis Stock router  -> (phone 1) -> Landline phone  (couldn't get it to work)
Do we need to care about the VLAN 822 for VOIP at all?
*
I assume you send VLAN621 traffic UNTAGGED to WAN port of own router.

Did you send VLAN822 WITHOUT VLAN TAGGING to the Maxis router, or did you send it WITH VLAN TAGGING?
The Maxis router's incoming WAN port expects VLAN TAGGED packets all this while.

I took the up 70" Sharp AndroidTV on 36mth Zerolution. Waiting delivery ETA next weekend. Also waiting for 2 mesh routers to be delivered as well.

The Samsung ones are SmartTV on Tizen, not acceptable if Samsung stops supporting.

Was on 100Mbps RM129. Have existing rebates from sign up promotion, but Centre staff said still eligible to continue after upgrade speed plan.

If remain 100Mbps RM129, Zerolution RM100. Projected damage = +RM100/mth

If upgrade to 300Mbps RM149, Zerolution RM80. Projected damage = +RM100/mth

If upgrade to 500Mbps RM219, Zerolution RM21. Projected damage = +RM111/mth

So I upgraded to 500Mbps. No brainer to get more Mbps for similar +damage. 36mth is not big deal as this is fibre, bukan nak tukar-tukar pun, especially the alternatives will end up still on same HSBB.

All these items come with 36 months payment?

Then the fibre plan contract is how long? 2 years or 3 years?
*
device - follow hire purchase plan (in my case, 36mth)

fibre - 2 years upon subscription. not sure if maxis resets upon upgrade/downgrade speed or attach device installment; didn't care since ....

... the longest out of them 2 will prevail.

TV (maxis's RRP) ≈ RM6700

If consider only the installment,
(RM21 * 36mth) = RM756.

If account together with the damage of having to upgrade from 100Mbps to 500Mbps
(((RM219 - RM129) + RM21) * 36mth) = (RM111 * 36mth) = RM3996

Even if stacked with SST 6%, that's still lower than if deducting RM6700 cash right away, or, if to acquire through other installment methods.

Also, I was also planning to go to 500Mbps later to match my other unifi 500Mbps line. Previously only went for 100Mbps (i) because there was promo for existing mobile customer, (ii) to acquire a fibre port.

(later found that i'm 2nd in a 10-port black DB box on pole. *phew*)

rm6700 vs rm756 + rm3996 = rm4752?

given that u are also enjoying the faster speed (500Mbps) vs 100Mbps, i supposed it is a good deal still?

besides, where does it mention about this 36 months thingy? never see that.

after 36 months, can keep the tv or need to return?
*
some people, they only look at cost of tv.
if you account only the tv installment, it's RM21/mth.
that is RM756 for 36mth.

some people, they want to see total cost of ownership.
Difference between 500Mbps and 100Mbps is (RM219 - RM129) = RM90.
if you account having to upgrade AND tv installment, it's RM111/mth.
that is RM3996 for 36mth.

some people also want to account SST. but input it aside as it just makes presentation more difficult.

Zerolution - pay 24mth to own it. now have 36mth option.
Zerolution360 - pay 24mth and return it. OR, continue paying penalty to 30mth(??) to own it.

i think maxis already stopped offering Zerolution360. Now only Zerolution.

so rm3996 not yet including the sst rite?
if the retail price of the tv (maybe after discount etc.) is really more than rm4k or maybe at least rm5k it is still quite a good deal.
to be frank, nowadays the 4k uhd tv is also not that ex rite? but of course 70-inch maybe different story.

actually for those who really need high speed such as 500Mbps plan. it is not lugi.. quite good deal actually.

among all the devices, i calculated that the ipad air is not worth it at all.. becos no difference at all becos to be frank for most ppl 100Mbps plan is already overkilled unless u are doing 24x7 downloading of huge files which normal ppl do not do it.
*
i check my existing maxis bill w/ mobile zerolution devices;
devices not hit with 6% SST. only mobile+broadband gets taxed.

so it will be projected increase of ((RM90+6% + RM21) = RM116.40/mth.

RM3996.00 before tax,
RM4190.40 with SST on the fibre subscription portion.

still way below RM6700 RRP if pay lump sum price today, right?!

i took ipad air 5th generation some time before covid-19 became a threat. RM91(?) for device. RM28 for the line.

RM18 only have its own quota; no sharing, have to buy add-on if finished.
RM28 on the other hand joins and increases the shared pool with other main+suppl.
i had 160GB/mth in the pool.
after i subscribe fibre, all become unlimited (*mumble* *something* 300GB hidden-but-not-hidden mobile internet FUP across account)

you cannot subscribe the RM18 and RM28 on their own.
only if you buy device from maxis.
(salesgirl lamented that even she can't get it for her pre-existing ipad.)

so my question is that if i opt for 36 months zerolution, but maxis fibre is 2 years contract, does it mean that one can also not terminate the maxis fibre after 2 years since it is on 36 months zerolution?
*
similar working whether mobile or fibre. the device and your line is together through contract duration. if you terminate/suspend/nopay line, the zerolution contract is broken.

my mobile line no contract, but i took zerolution for iphone and watch, it became part of contract as well.

so still good deal?

dun understand on the rm18 and rm28 parts...
*
it was good deal to me even if nett device price did not differ much. the SIM plan is special, as it taps into my shared pool that otherwise is underutilised.

https://www.maxis.com.my/en/faq/devices/sma...id-tablet-plan/

Maxis Postpaid Tablet Plan

Plan 18; comes with quota for its own use only. Buy more data if finished.

Plan 28; comes with quota that adds to the shared pool of mainline.

only available for Apple tablets purchased from Maxis.
I already paid 24mth, but can continue to maintain the RM28 line.

The tablet line is part of your account, but does not count as a supplementary line. maxis limits the number of supplementaries based on your primary plan level. in my case postpaid 128, i have 2 supplementaries AND a tablet plan, don't need to upgrade to postpaid 158 (3 supplementaries).

E.g.
main postpaid 128 have 70GB to share, 2 supplementaries add 60GB, tablet SIM adds another 30GB; so total available for all SIMs in the pool is 160GB. If sign up fibre, then pool becomes unlimited. (but, FUP total for all mobiles in the account is 300GB)

so come back to revisit this deal to see if it is worth it or not.
i think i am interested i will need to wait for the transfer request id to be cancelled first and sign up again. or unless maxis allowed me to add this to my original sign up.

maxis installed my fibre in may. i added the tv the previous weekend.

yes.

i think there's a cooldown of 3mths if not mistaken for fresh meat.
but otherwise, just need credit check.

if you did this in maxis centre, re-approach the sales and ask to add to your fibre "purchase order". maybe no fuss if add outright.

add:
there is a cooldown of 3mths to the next zerolution device.
e.g. i add iphone and watch on 1st feb, so i can't get another device until after 3mths. i get TV in july, so next device contract - if i want more - is only available in october.

1 line, 1 device, subject to credit check and 3mths cooldown in-between.

last year i could not take any despite multiple checks. even asked to pay certain amount upfront to rebate back.

but last year i still have contract for Samsung S10+ and A-something, this year already cleared; probably that's why this year can take new devices without issue.

before: was already on mobile w/ a few on-going and recently expired zerolution. after add fibre, becomes unlimited data for all lines inside same account.

Feb: uncabled fibre DB only appeared recently behind landed house.
Mar: cabled fibre DB, apply for fibre
April: installed fibre
