been leveraging zerolution to replace devices as they age.

since i'm staying on maxis for long term, might as well leverage cheaper price than buying full RRP upfront. the line still have to subscribe regardless on device.

was enjoying the same with celcom's and digi's equivalent, but i've abandoned them for they fully insists on paying large amount upfront and must use ccard autodebit; what for being contracted but no different than buying the phone outright.

You know what's the joke?

"Ok, dah upgrade fibre ke 500Mbps. Nanti saya proses abang punya TV; detail dah ambil hari tu."

That was 2 weeks ago. He never did.

Until I knocked door again. Today.

I went CentreF: "abang tak layak zerolution."

I went CentreB: "abang layak zerolution. tiada downpayment."

I went CentreZ: "abang layak zerolution, tapi kena upfront RM800."

Those are responses across peninsula, not a specific state.

Not in a hurry. So not disappointed lah.
No wonder no email confirmation of the zerolution ever arrived. Until today.

Surprised to check that the tv is rated 24kg+ without stand, 31kg+ with stand!
I thought can fix to wall later on my own, but now ..... i am already imagining of the coming backpain just to lift it up.

I’m asking also because I’m getting my Maxis 500mbps installed in 2 days time and my house is quite reliant on Apple HomeKit. I have more than 20+ smart home lights/switches etc. So im wondering if private/public IP has any effect on it. Currently my house is running on Digi 150 infinite with a TPlink mesh system.

the TCP/IP internet works with public IP.

if your router is assigned public IP, it can "publish" whatever port directly on the internet; anyone will be able to connect to such port. (for simplicity in explaining, put aside issue of restricting who can access.)

if your router is assigned private IP, it needs to be NAT-ted into a public IP.
unfortunately, your private-to-public NAT assignment is not 1-to-1; ISP assigns many subscribers unique private IP, then NAT them all together behind 1 public IP. in such situation of many-to-1 mapping, it is almost impossible for the NAT to accept new incoming connection from the internet as it won't know to which subscriber such connection is meant for.

if you need to host something directly from your home to be accessible from the internet (dvr, home security, game server, streaming, etc.) then you won't be able to do so if you are on private IP assignment, as your router is unreachable from the internet.

Set up was initially 1 BTU + 1 router.

Later, 2 mesh unit (same model as router) were added.

After unplugging for some time, today I teturned to switch on BTU + main router.

But wifi never returned, despite "Internet" light is on.

Since they were now configured as 3-gang mesh set, is it not able to function anymore when the mesh brothers are incomplete?

Glad your headache is sorted out, after some manipulations by a sucker TM.

TM/Unifi is generally a 'curse' for its 'monopolised/captive' customers of several decades old, all over the country.

Why is MCMC not taking action against Unifi/TM for anti-customer practices in use for several decades??????

It's license to operate should be cancelled for good imo.
*
Put blame where it should be.
This was not TM itself.
It's an overzealous agent.

Fibre have just come to my area via Unifi

the issue is the TM Point agent keep holding my address for ransom and keep harrasing me telling no port for me but Maxis said have port but my address blocked by TM.

Go to TM Point no help because the TM agent have to cancel that order.
This have been going on for more than a week.

They don't want to release my address.
*
This was my concern; that TM (agent) will play dirty by putting reservation if i ever check my address with them.
I was so guarded against the possibility, that I never attempted to check my greenfield housing address with TM. Straight walk-in to Maxis Centre, which I was glad I did as the CS told me their Centre's front-end is more up-to-date compared to the web front-end. CS assured me Maxis have dedicated team that will chase TM to create entry specific for my address which was not yet in the system.

And this is not the only dirty thing TM Point Seremban did actually.
Maxis was surprised my address is not listed to have Unifi but port is available.
They check thoroughly the system and the port is there.
Allocation 40 ports but my whole taman is blacked out like there is no Unifi coverage.
They hide my address so that we cannot register with other telcos and also I have tried to search my address via Unifi website, my address is stated no coverage.

That is what Maxis CS tell me.
*
My case, got a few non-contiguous, non-adjacent addresses on same road appeared inside system, but not mine.

My uneducated guess is, it's First-Come-First-Registered melee.

Since CS assured me Maxis itself will chase after to create address, I just proceed lorrr. The pole and black db box is immediately right behind my address. Just give the db identification.

Yep that is the way my reseller did.
They have to dig inside the system and ask for DB box number to find my port.
It was funny that TM willing to go to this length to prevent others from promoting their service.

Mereka lupa - HSBB network itu geran kerajaan, TM hanya dilantik mentadbir.
Kalau terus buat perangai macam ini, lets give to a carrier-neutral party to manage it - DNB.

It's likely that only for those who reported to MCMC, then they'll comply and be a "good boy", but it is just for that particular customer only.

The rest of the customer that doesn't report to MCMC ones, then it's business as usual... As in continue practicing such tactics as usual...

In the end, MCMC is more like a middlemen that take action only according to complaints received, rather than taking stern action against the ISP to solve the root cause.

Recently was approached by an agent stating my condo will finally have fibre infra in few months time as they have confirmed TM has already plan in hand to setup fibre infra at my condo.

Now the agent, who has been contacted me since a year back, proposed me to sign up Maxi Fibre In Box package now at price of RM88 per month with 1 year contract but free for first 6 months. It's a temporary package that will automatically convert to Maxis Fibre once my condo has the infra.
*
1. This Fibre In A Box is just default "placeholder" while waiting for your actual fibre to be installed. You can actually sign up fibre anytime with Maxis, and still get this. I would advise that you do not play to the urgency of the agent, because ....

2. How soon and how "confirmed" is TM wiring your building? You will still be liable to pay for this Fibre In the Box in meantime.

3. Is there any exclusivity deal between your building management and TM (e.g. "we will wire your building but all must use Unifi in the first 2 years from service start date.) I'm not versed if such deal is valid or enforceable, but, I am just bringing it up for you to ponder and find out. (Also, consider it unfair lah if building convinced you to come in when no one else wanted to, and you spent doing cabling but competitors gets to snatch business instead, right?)

4. Will TM eventually make available a port for Maxis to service you? If you subscribed to Maxis too early and Maxis end up hammering TM even before cabling is done, what's the possibility of tit-for-tat not enough port right from outset? (my mind is playing game.) As narrated somewhere in this forum just few days ago, all it takes is for TM to miss out your address in the HSBB database, or, for TM to place reservation on your address as if you signed up with them.

---

Just to relate my experience with that Box; it comes with router, USB dongle modem to attach, AND Zerolution contract.

Maxis gave another router when fibre is installed
~1month later; incidentally the same model as the one in this Box.

I was told to return the Box to Maxis Centre; router, dongle modem, SIM. Better if you keep its original packaging. I was then to call 123 to inform them that I've returned the set because fibre installation was completed; only 123 can prorate+cancel the associated 4G subscription and Zerolution contract.

Now, the fibre itself comes with backup USB dongle modem. While I was returning whole Box to Maxis Centre, I enquired about backup 4G. Centre explained that another dongle will always be delivered separately at later date, but since I was already in Centre and had asked about it, they said just take back the existing dongle modem for that purpose, and they issued me a new SIM for it.

(Else, Centre will just keep the Box etc idle inside store. sounds like not going to be re-issued to another customer?)

A week later, the fibre installer did call me up toarrange plugging in a backup dongle (in his job sheet), which I declined and explained to him that Centre told me to reuse the one from Box and already issued a SIM as well, so he no need to drive 30km just to deliver a duplicate.

Oh.. if it's 1TB still considered fine for me as currently I am using the old retired Digi Infinite 150 with 999GB of FUP on unlocked Huawei B618-65d. I really need more info on this so called Maxis pre-fibre plan.

In that case maybe I can make full use for my B618 with the Maxis sim card I guess since the B618 is a well known powerful LTE modem.
*
The OG "Postpaid Infinite 150" is NOT 999GB FUP.
Testimony from other users - you can call DiGi CS to reset quota anytime it hits another 1TB. Do not confuse with the later "Postpaid 150" (look at the name), which is - yes - 1TB quota non-refreshable if you keep renewing 12mth contract.

Hmmm.... i think there was something about -anything- wireless on Maxis is capped to FUP 300GB per whole account; when it then will start to tinker with video.
i.e. fibre 4G backup + all mobile postpaid in same account = total 300GB FUP, which it will then start to affect quality of video streaming.

And the allocation of the router is based on your internet speed.
30 Mbps - Mostly TP Link AX20/Huawei Black
100 Mbps - Huawei Black one
300 Mbps and above - Kaon AR2140

300 Mbps might substitute with Huawei depends on HQ.
*
I started with 100Mbps, gets Huawei.
After upgrade to 500Mbps, still reuse same Huawei but gets 2 additional as mesh.

If upgrade speed they will not change router.
Only for new installation.
That is what my Maxis Centre said la.

They told me if want Kaon router, terus pasang 500 Mbps.
Later cannot change router.
LOL.
300 Mbps also depend on HQ dapat router apa.
Luckily I get Kaon.
Even my reseller said not all 300 Mbps sub get Kaon.
Mostly Huawei.
He said I am quite rare getting Kaon.
The only stupid thing for me is why Maxis is charging the same RRP for both Huawei and Kaon.
Both definitely have diff specs.
I read some spec sheet, Huawei is AX3000 vs Kaon AX5400.
*
actually not that i cared which router brand.
already ordered additional 2 pairs (4 units) of Deco M9 Plus through Unifi subscription. I probably just maintain the Huawei router for time being, and maybe dedicate the additional 2 Huawei units for home automation and CCTV devices.
