QUOTE(dasecret @ Aug 18 2015, 10:36 AM) I've attempted to remind people about ASx funds, but people is this thread seem to be too defensive to pay attention The bolded part. so it's mean starting 2016, all Fixed price fund change into floating NAV just like ASG or any other UTs So, for the benefit of the other readers, I will just lay down the facts again... ASx funds are 100% Malaysia equity funds, just like the public mutual funds etc - early this year KLSE was 1850 points, now left 1570 points, do you think the fund make profit or make losses? Look at all the other floating rate funds in the market, including the ASG type How come the price for ASx funds are still fixed at RM1 per unit? http://www.asnb.com.my/pdf/PRODUK/Master_P...314complete.pdf Pay attention to page 31, 5.12.2 Bases of Valuation on Investments for ASB, ASW 2020, ASM, ASD and AS 1Malaysia The introduction of MFRS requires the Funds to apply NAV in its valuation bases and processes. The SC has specified that the Fixed-Priced Unit Trust Funds are permitted but not required to comply with MFRS 139 and MFRS 7 for the financial years ending 31 December 2012 until 31 December 2015, subject to terms and conditions imposed by SC. If these funds follow floating NAV, what would be the value now? Honestly, I don't think it's so easy for the gov to steal your money from the fund, after all it's guarded by trustee and all... But.... is your money still worth as much? particularly in a falling market? Just be aware that this is not FD, it was never meant to be |

QUOTE(dasecret @ Aug 18 2015, 12:01 PM) I don't know... your guess is as good as mine, but I sure am not taking the risk... I hope they maintain the rm1/unit.. Anyway, one possibility is they extend the exemption... especially if the market is doing badly and if they change to floating NAV = 0.80 per unit instead of RM1.00 per unit; I think all the retirees who holds the units would be very upset... maybe they will try to wait until floating NAV = 1.02 per unit instead of RM1.00 per unit to unfix the price... but, if this round KLSE drop till 1,000 points or less, when would that happens? The main reason why I invest is because of the fixed pricing.. if that's is abolish, then I rather invest in FSM btw read over the MYR drop thread.. some are saying that the drop in KLCI mainly because of Hot money @ USA QE leaving the country.. long story cut short.. KLCI target is 1,200 pts going forward |

QUOTE(plumberly @ Aug 18 2015, 03:42 PM) The concern on fixed to variable price change was raised earlier (will we be informed prior to the change etc). The additional infor I did not know was the 31 Dec 2015 date. Useful infor to keep in mind now. Yes, guilty, I did not read the prospectus! thanks I have emailed to ASNB on whether the funds will be changed to VP funds as of 1-Jan-2016 and if so, when will the existing unit holders be informed of the coming change. I will share their reply here once I get it. Cheerio. P/S If you have a copy of the prospectus before 2011, please share here. Thanks. was in 50/50 in want to ask them or not about the change to VP funds starting 2016 |

QUOTE(hyelbaine @ Aug 18 2015, 05:56 PM) It's really up to the individual. You'll always have those with strong opinions with hopes of influencing others either way. At the end of the day, each investor needs to think for his/herself because whatever happens is as a result of your own-decision making and blaming others is just an escape route from looking at one's self. well said.. tis one is the most diplomatic reply I've seen so far For me, the extension is a given. I'm a realist and standards/laws are enforced by regulators who at the end of the day are answerable to the government of the day. And who runs governments? Politicians and the will of politicians is not something that should ever be underestimated. If you feel uncomfortable that the extension may not be given than by all means, cash out and invest somewhere else. One man's meat is another's poison so there will be those who are hungry for the units you just cashed out on. Who laughs last in the end? Only time will tell. How many are laughing or regretting now buy following/not following the "herd" when AS1M launched initially? Investment in ANY form is a risk, and that's it. There's nothing guaranteed in this world other than death and taxes |

QUOTE(ikanbilis @ Aug 18 2015, 11:13 PM) Why so defensive? I'm just providing an alternative discussion whether you should put all eggs into one basket? Why do you think the ASx just a month ago it's almost impossible to top up, nowadays many people can open all new ASx account easily? why only 3 countries? Euro u don't like? overvalue? Since you ask, I'm currently working in the States, my assets are spread in 3 countries U.S.30%, Spore 30% and M'sia 40%. I'm working on it to be 4:4:2 in the near future. Everyone can learn to diversify their portfolio, you don't have to use the famous quote kalau tak suka, keluar lah... |
