Fed a lot of mealworms ah? LoL.. If it is so, I'll buy mealworms for my hammie too to make it strong and healthy. After my habitrail food finishes, I'm gonna buy those expensive food with loads of nutriends for it. Quite ex though.. almost double the price of my normal hamster food. Want it to be strong and healthy so it'll have a healthy litter.

Wooo! Cute pups! eh for the RC, I read that you can leave the males with females as they can help raise the pups. How about for WW?

QUOTE(Yaozz @ Jan 15 2007, 03:20 PM) This questions have been asked many times dude. I'll explain again. Hamsters are solitary and teritorial animals. They will NOT feel lonely living alone. It is better to seperate hamsters. For example, lions, they're solitary but sometimes you have 3-4 males in a clan and they WILL fight sometimes and often result in death. The same more or less applies to hamsters. =)Eh dien, when will your hammies be ready to be seperated from their mom? Oh btw, I stay somewhere at Taman Mayang Jaya, nearby DJ also la.. where to get mealworms?!?!?! I can't find it! |

QUOTE(dien @ Jan 15 2007, 08:23 PM) i asked someone here before, he said minimum.. hamsters can be saperated from the mom after 3 weeks old.. Yes that I know lol.. so how old are yours now? It's better to wait till the 4th week. Hmm.. Anyway, where you buy your mealworms from? Are mealworms same with sugarcane worms? That's the only type of worm I can find. |

QUOTE(Reanne @ Jan 16 2007, 01:44 AM) Syrians are ideal because they are a good size and quite docile. But be sure to handle them before you buy as not all of them are tame. Yes, syrians are solitary, which means 1 syrian per tank/cage. It would depend whether you like a big or small ham. Syrians are good if you want something big to cuddle, wws are if you want smaller ones. Oh thank you sifu.. lol.. tofu as in those packed in plastic bag which you can find in markets? =S Wow... how hamster eat tofu? Sure can ah? Tofu so soft, they grab it it'll break. I'll try crickets then. I just want my hammie to have some animal protein in their diet. =)UK has some good breeders that really breed pure lines of wws and good quality syrians. But the ones coming from Holland are not of good stock. Linda Price and Lorraine Hill are both good breeders of hams. There are a few standards, such as the CHA(California Hamster Association) and BHA(British Hamster Association) standards. I breed toward the BHA standards. Koko crunch??? Chocolate is poisonous to dogs and cats, hamsters included. Yes, they WILL breed once they reach their sexual maturity age, which is in about a month or so. Not just pregnancy/delivery complications. The female will also get stunted, especially if there are more babies, because she herself is growing. If she keeps feeding the babies milk from her own body, how ever will she be able to grow properly? Both her and her babies will suffer if bred too young. Better not breed la, it's a huge burden to them and it's not 'fun' to them either. It will also shorten their lifespan. YES, they will fight and if they have the chance, even kill. You don't NEED to feed your hams mealies or crickets. Fruits, tofu, vegetables are also enjoyed and can be used as treats. My hams LOVE tofu, not one has refused tofu yet. Btw, mealies are higher in fat and have a layer of chitin on their exoskeletons, therefore harder to digest. Crickets are richer and higher in protein, therefore I would recommend feeding cricks to mealies. But like I said, if you can't find mealies or cricks, don't need to bother so much. Just buy some tofu, wheatgerm or some slices of apple, they won't be any less happy. |

Hhahaa.. cute cute. Anyway, I've observed the same thing as well. They seem to only use their cheek pouch to bring food to another place to eat it. Not for eating later.
