Successfully updated my ZU via OTA to 5.1.

So far so good, no reception issues. Is it just me but speaker volume seems better n louder now?

I still can't listen to the FM radio even with headphones connected though.

And yes battery icon is too far from signal icon in the top status bar.

Good news. Mind sharing the steps you did exactly to solve the problem? As a guide to others who might be facing the same issue in future.

Just wondering... How's the camera image quality after the updating? I heard the quality improved after 5.0.

How about the battery life?
*
After the 5.1.1 OTA update on my ZU, I noticed the battery drains slightly faster now. It could just be me, I'm not sure. Maybe have to recalibrate the battery over a few more charge & usage cycles to be sure.

As for camera quality, from what I can see it has deteriorated. Most of the pics I take now aren't sharp & kinda foggy & blurry..lacking contrast. Again, I am not 100% sure. It could just be my unit or scratches/scuffs on my lens. YMMV.

It's very nice, for an 18 months old device.
Can't jump to Z5 Ultra because this update made me loved it freaking much.

QUOTE(silentsunami @ Sep 21 2015, 01:37 PM)
Hahaha....i also feel in love with my ZU again, now type whatapps also faster now. previously on 5.0, whatapps keep freezing and unresponsive at some time. After 5.1.1, this problem gone, is this cause by memory leak?
*
Great to see 5.1.1 update has been excellent for you guys. Mine...so so only, as mentioned before. Oh, and I'm still having that screen suddenly go blank but notification shade is fine problem that I reported a few pages back. Thought it would go away with 5.1.1 update. Well, could be because it's a dirty flash.

Oh, and I'm also getting more Edge connections now, instead of the near constant H+/3G with Celcom in my area before the update. Not sure why.

Love the louder speaker output though...

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Sep 21 2015, 11:49 PM)
can't blame it, as it's 18 months old. the longest i get is 5h 30m on 4.4.4, and that was 8 months old.
*
My best SOT with 30% 3G & 70% wifi is around 4.5 hours max on 5.0.1.

Have yet to see noticeable improvement with the latest update.

try to use flashtool to reset and wipe your phone.
for most of the times, a stable phone comes from a clean OS.
*
The last time I used flashtool, I ended up soft bricking my ZU. Tried almost everything I could on my own before sending to my usual shop, luckily they managed to unbrick it. I just don't have the knack for it, and no sifu to guide me also. Plus this ZU is my ONLY phone & thus my daily driver as well...

So yeah, tempting but I don't dare do it on my own anymore. sad.gif

My z ultra is no longer worthy for simple snap. The lens scratched like holy mama.
So many light fractions.
*
Same here, now all my photos look blurry & washed out sad.gif Was told by a repair guy at low yat that the plastic covering the lens that's attached to the back panel is the one that's scratched, not the lens itself. Replacement of back panel with said plastic piece will cost about rm80. Think I'll do it soon.

if you not worried about waterproofing or dust, just remove that piece  icon_idea.gif
*
How to remove the piece..any instructions?

I'm not worried much about waterproofing, as I doubt mine still has it intact. I've replaced the screen twice already now sad.gif

Yeah I know. But what to do.. I like my ZU.

you need remove back cover, punch out the lens glass and stick back the back cover

note: since ald removed back cover, why not replace it, can get online via ebay etc...
*
Ok, thanks. I think I'll replace the back cover as well. That punching out the lens glass sounds kinda scary.

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Oct 27 2015, 12:41 PM)
Add on : don't forget to remove the NFC chip from the old panel as well.
*
Good point. Thanks for the reminder.

The new update makes my reception more poor than previous firmware. doh.gif
*
Same here, my reception goes down 1 or 2 bars than previously in the same location.

Also, I'm not 100% sure but battery time goes down a bit faster in standby too.

This might just be me. YMMV.

My ZU has now been relegated, taken over by the note 5

ZU battery bulging already. Anyone has experience dealing with changing the battery?
*
How r u liking your Note 5 over the ZU so far? smile.gif I bet u don't miss ur ZU much tongue.gif

How can u tell ur battery is bulging already?

My dad changed the battery in his ZU @ Lowyat plaza about 2 months ago. Together with the micro USB charging port replacement, both cost him around rm200 total, IIRC.

Ah, right, ok. Thanks. I'll be on the lookout for that.

The back part of the ZU is already "peeled" up, a sure sign of battery bulge sad.gif

On the other hand, i am enjoying the N5, but not as much the screen size compared to the ZU. I wanted the change due to the phenomenally better camera of the N5 vs the ZU
*
Yes, the camera on the Note 5 is light years ahead of the one on the ZU smile.gif

my ZU stop charging and the LED lighting is not on. can anyone tell me why

Might be the micro USB charging port is the culprit. Have u tried charging via the magnetic port on the side?
