reporting in lol...
2 kids (4 and 3 years old boys) and 1 is on the way (next month, this 1 i think is girl because yesterday scan still cannot see itu burung lol) also... congratz unker deimos... 1st few months baby came out its hard to find time to play any games... still can play games but only on the light one... MMO or competitive online is a big no... when my son came out... that was the time i retired from TF2... once the baby sleep time more teratur then you will get the time to play... but dont expect to have the same many hours you poured into games before lol... previously i can finish any games within 2-3 days... now 1 games would take 2-4 weeks depending on the game storyline... and expect more backlogs lol... most of my friends stop playing games after their son/daughter came out... reason cant find quality times to play games so they have to abandon that hobby... but some of them still continuing play games like me... some even manage to continue where they left off in MMO or competitive online... for me i left MMO for good... but for competitive online i seldom play it as sometimes i need to afk... like last night play grid autosport online... was in top 5 among other players... but at the end result i finished last because i was away for a moment while racing lol... best time to play is when the baby/kid is sleeping... like in payday 2... me and my team usually do heist only above 10 or 11 pm... because that is the time when my kids are sleeping... 2 kids here. My eldest girl just started kindergarten this year
Well, i stopped playing MMORPG completely(WoW) due to the required time commitment if you want to be good in MMORPG you need to spend a lot of time in it I've been playing mainly Hearthstone, Marvel Heroes, Heroes of the Storm or any Single Player game such as Dragon Age Inquisition I had to force to myself to change to games that requires less commitment where each game of Hearthstone/Heroes of the Storm takes less than 30 minutes which is why i quitted DOTA. It's really hectic when you playing such a long game and suddenly your kids are crying or wife calling you I sleep very late nowadays at least after 2AM because i still make time for gaming once my kids are asleep. It's bad for my health but deep down I still have the passion for gaming and this will not go away EDIT: Forgot to mention i have the advantage of playing in office as well This post has been edited by ChcGamer: Jan 27 2015, 10:11 AM |

Deimos Tel`ArinBoss, don't wake up your kid to feed, in most cases sleep > feed. Plus if she's hungry, she will wake you up instead =D
My baby (6 months+ now) is often 'kidnapped' by my mom-in-law lol, so most of the time she will be the one who takes care of my son. When he's around, I skip games like Payday 2 (my heisters kaki all too farmed up nowadays), DOTA2, CS:GO, or any other online games that require continuous and immediate attention. I will usually play SP games like; Civilization 5, Divinity: Original Sin, FTL, FM2015, Rome 2 etc. These games can be stopped/paused and wait for me to get back from making milk, washing bottles, washing baby's butt etc so it is just perfect. Wife has been telling me to quit but urgh, I can lower down the gaming hours but to quit gaming entirely is just impossible... On health-wise, pick a day or two to do some sports and eat healthily (more vege/fruits/water and less oil/sugar/fast food) to balance it a bit. We will definitely lose sleep and HP over taking of baby, best to do something to counter it else we will really game over early. *Used to play Brave Frontier on mobile but quit recently as I am too busy at work to play on my mobile... New job is hectic, urgh... Only spam Fun Run 2 from time to time. This post has been edited by ik3da: Jan 27 2015, 12:41 PM |

QUOTE(Darkz01 @ Jan 27 2015, 09:10 AM) Even for me now, competitive games and MMOs are a huge no now. I used to take 2 days to finish an SP game or maybe 1-2 weeks for a RPG. Now, i need at least 3 weeks to finish a single player shooter like Wolfenstein or give up half way for longer games like Valkyria Chronicles. I just cant find the time to play through long games these days but I rather have games that I can control my time and able to finish it in less than 2 hours. At the same time, after working for the whole day, I just want something to relax. Looks like sim racing might be what's left i'll play in the future. |

The only time I can play games now is on Friday and Saturday from midnight until after dawn. Or only weekdays (except school holiday) where I'm on MC.
In any case I have been gaming long before the monitor comes in color back in mid 80's so there's no way I'm going to stop gaming, kids or no kids. As I told my wife, better have a stay at home gamer husband than away from home dangdut husband. This post has been edited by aliesterfiend: Jan 27 2015, 01:09 PM |

LOL...
I got summoned... Dad of a 2 y'o son and 5 m'o daughter. My game... mostly SP game which can be paused and saved at any point of the game. Coop/Competitive MP is a huge no since I'm gonna AFK the game once in a while... haha... so most game I play now is SP game, game that I can finish overnight before this also took few weeks to finish. |

Ekeke unker finally a dad eh. I'm a father of 2 girls (5 yrs and 3 yrs old), another one is coming in April. I was always a single player type of game most of the time so no problem there. When I play destiny online its usually after 11pm, my kids and wife usually sleep already, or most of the time I sneak upstairs around 10pm when my wife felt asleep in front of the tv downstairs haha. Nothing to it once you get the routine of fatherhood. You develop your style soon enough, guys always find a way to survive with there hobby haha

My boy is now 1.5 years old. The only game I play these days are YNAB, which is on the way to set a record as the "game most hours spent on".
I still touch Hearthstone once in a while but not much interest. My boy clings to me more than his mom, even though he's a breastfed boy. Sometimes I even fell asleep while lullabying him to sleep & if I didn't fall asleep, I can't play computer games for long since my wife is a log once she goes into slumberland. Therefore, I need to be on the lookout for my boy's cry, either due to hunger or nightmare. Heck, don't even mention games, finishing a movie can sometimes be a challenge. Last last year, I 1 shot applied for long annual leaves to finish up Breaking Bad. Anyway, everyone has their own will & way to keep up with their passion. At the end of the day, I'm just trying to get myself to involve as much as possible into my boy's daily life. I've left him with babysitter for almost 12 hours daily so I make it an effort to spend the remaining few precious hours to bond with him. These days, I can't even dedicate my evening to him due to teleconference meetings with counterparts from US & Europe so I'll feel really guilty if I managed to find time for games after he sleeps. |

No la unker, once they older it is still hard to get time. The thing that changes though, as they got older, you become more skillful at finding the time needed more gaming (my wife would called it more sneaky but I prefer skillful haha)

Hi,
I have a girl attending kindergarden and one more incoming new recruit. I stop mmorpg completely after I realized with a kid you cant really be top of your game and it is sad to see as your friends climb higher and higher then you in levels and armor, so I kind of stop it entirely. Dota and starcraft type of game is more appropriate. I play counter strike for a quick gaming fix, clocked 1300+ hours shamelessly. My whole family is gamer, so at night most of us will b e staring at the computer screen. My daughter have 3ds, ipad and her own laptop. I am currently playing h1z1 actively. Comparing my friends, I am lucky to have a gamer wife, it makes a big different. Cheers |

Totalwar, starcraft, even mmo like WoW and guild wars have been around for 10 years more or less, time flies. Young teens these days play only dota no longer quality games like us which is kinda sad. I guess when your sons get older they will have a great mentor to guild them through their e-games and E-life. 2nd gen of gamers Just wondering while you all were dating do you all get much time for gaming or does your partner complain every time you game? I guess it depends on the partner also if she is a clingy type or not. So how do you all deal with it? I mentioned mobile gaming on phonese cos thesedays everyone carries it around and you get to play when you are commuting or lunch breaks then u save n continue next time. Do you all have problems keeping awake with so little time to juggle around. Cos with PC and console you cant play it when ever you are waiting for stuff like a friend, mama in law etc But one thing for sure guys, once your children grow up there is no turning back not like you can save all these moments and load back. So please treasure the time with your children, maybe you can try to incorporate more family annotated games with them after all they are all real noob that need your coaching. QUOTE(aliesterfiend @ Jan 27 2015, 01:05 PM) The only time I can play games now is on Friday and Saturday from midnight until after dawn. Or only weekdays (except school holiday) where I'm on MC. No time of course for online games so all SP (TW series and now M&B). WoW even you are a father already some more one of your kid is already in college ZOMG In any case I have been gaming long before the monitor comes in color back in mid 80's so there's no way I'm going to stop gaming, kids or no kids. As I told my wife, better have a stay at home gamer husband than away from home dangdut husband. I always had an impression of you being around 30 QUOTE(aliesterfiend @ Jan 28 2015, 10:19 AM) My eldest is 20 and in college. haha make a closet and put ur pc ontop la can imagine 1/2 way in battle in atila winning already poop now powder lol QUOTE(The Amateur Working Bee @ Jan 27 2015, 06:32 PM) guild wars 2 not mmo arr?have time? QUOTE(soul_fly9900 @ Jan 27 2015, 08:31 PM) I sneak upstairs around 10pm when my wife felt asleep in front of the tv downstairs haha. Nothing to it once you get the routine of fatherhood. You develop your style soon enough, guys always find a way to survive with there hobby haha ur waifu like mai mum loly need to wait for waifu to sleep? does she not allow u to play games? QUOTE(Rei7 @ Jan 27 2015, 11:27 PM) Wah thought still young.. carried u how old are u? hahaFuh to think that you carried me when I started playing DayZ last year... Hebat QUOTE(talexeh @ Jan 28 2015, 12:17 AM) My boy is now 1.5 years old. The only game I play these days are YNAB, which is on the way to set a record as the "game most hours spent on". never thought ur a dad already since ur so active in steam after sc2 hypeI still touch Hearthstone once in a while but not much interest. Wah your boy already 1.5 so after sc2 hype u became a father, so how did u manage ur gf/wife when u were bz gaming doesnt she complain that u game so much and not paying enuf attention to her? QUOTE(Skidd Chung @ Jan 28 2015, 03:00 PM) Lol exactly this. My daughter wants me to play with her every waking hour. So no time for myself when she is awake. how old is your daughter? hahahaI play games with her on PC sometimes, mainly Scribblenauts. Made a mistake playing Fallout NV with her. After she watch a guys head explode, she doesn't want to play the 'man game' anymore. lol QUOTE(soul_fly9900 @ Jan 29 2015, 07:33 PM) No la unker, once they older it is still hard to get time. The thing that changes though, as they got older, you become more skillful at finding the time needed more gaming (my wife would called it more sneaky but I prefer skillful haha) how come? I thought when they get older they have homework and skul to take care ofQUOTE(mules @ Jan 29 2015, 10:07 PM) Hi, CONGRATS CONGRATS. what game does ur wife play? So i guess u no longer play SC2?I have a girl attending kindergarden and one more incoming new recruit. Cheers This post has been edited by fujkenasai: Jan 30 2015, 10:25 AM |

My missus used to play the Sims (Sim 1 & 2) but by time Sim 3 no more time..... as a father to be (in a few months) this scares me, haha. after married, had to stay aways from mmorpg, too grindy and time consuming. now only able to play those arena based/round games, world of tanks for example.. hopefully i can still play games pc/console when the time comes (wishful thinking) ^^; *edits* eh unker deimos, you're still playing gw2 ka? |

Anyway, I'm kinda lucky as my wife didn't stay with me until she's late into her pregnancy. She was working in the mainland so she rent a room there while I stayed on the island. She only came back during weekends, so everyday after work was gaming time for me until around 1am or 2am. Anyway, she knew that I was a gamer so she didn't make too much of a fuss when she moved back unless I stayed up past 12am, in which she would nag me to sleep. Of course, I still need to dedicate some hours for meals & shoppings with her once in a while. Keyword here is to treat & treasure her like how you would expect someone to do the same to you. |

I'm a dad. My son is going to be 4 months old soon. Yes... he wants lots of attention, but I do my gaming at night. I get my time when he's sleeping or my wife is with him. It's even more difficult for me since I actually run a video game blog and I have a tonne of games to play for review.
I try my best to get in one hour a day, of games I'm reviewing and weekends I play longer. But I always have time for my son. So much so, my wife thinks I'm spoiling him by carrying him too much or playing with him too much Also... congratulations Deimos |

fujkenasai It's not that my wife stops me from playing games, she actually stops me from "Curi tulang" taking care of the kids by sneaking up and playing games when she feel asleep and leave her alone to hold the fort against 2 very destructive and rampaging daughters who loves to jump on top of her
In fact when my in laws are around my wife encourages me to go upstairs and play games instead of hogging the tv to myself haha. Clash of movie genres preference (I prefer Interstellar sort of stuff whereas they are more towards Maharaja Lawak kind of stuffs And kids tends to follow and mimic your behaviour actually, so have to be mindful of the words that are coming out of your mouth and what you watch so I have toned down a lot on games that have too much violence and swearing words ie Gears of Wars, Sleeping Dogs etc. |

Here's an interesting story of a gamer dad/ married guy.
Yesterday I went to an exclusive Sony preview event (Bloodborne and The Order: 1886... I know console games, so I won't talk about it). My wife called and asked me whether I'm coming back for dinner. And I said I will have dinner here since there is food. Long story short, basically I was eager to try out the games and I told her, "I'll talk to you later, I've got games to play". She was probably pissed. Ah the perils of a video gamer husband/dad. |

Unless if they don't see and don't know...you're kidding right? moderate gaming (hobby) while not forgetting priorities is not bad influence. My plan is to quit when my kid reaches 5 years or so.. QUOTE(Deimos Tel`Arin @ Jan 27 2015, 12:59 AM) before dad hood, Hey grats on your little bundle of joy!last game i actually played on my home pc is ... hunie pop! after my princess spawned few days ago, i have not really played any games in my home pc ... well, i did manage to play a few founds of hunie pop on my net book while still in the maternity ward room accompanying my wife ... 1st 6 months is relatively easy as all they do is eat, poop and sleep in whatever order they feel like. You may feel at that age that being a gamer is an advantage since you have an excuse to stay up late to look after them while their mother sleeps. However, as they grow older, and they start getting more mobile then you actually need to pay attention to them to prevent any preventable mishaps. My kid will be 4 this year and it's definitely not as easy as it used to be - there's definitely less time. Don't know about frags, that's why I spend a lot less time on lowyat and why I've been demoted from mod status! I don't mind my kid becoming a gamer as long as he has a balanced lifestyle virtual/non virtual. I'm also looking forward till he gets older so I can minecraft/Disney infinity or whatever with him. No GTA for him though! |

I'm also looking forward till he gets older so I can minecraft/Disney infinity or whatever with him. No GTA for him though! my parents and sisters believed in responsible gaming. in the end as I grow up they /facepalm and knew they made the wrong decision in buying that Intel Pentium 1 and allowing me to play occasionally on it. finally my gaming couldn't keep up.. games require much higher end specs and I just gave up till reach college.. then that is when addiction came back as i coerce my parents to buy me a new rig to use at college.. downloaded a lot of games from FTP of other students and i know full well later on that I could have done better at college if i did not entangle myself with games. Played Dota 2 like crazy too during that time only to quit it few years ago.. all that wasted time.. Steam clocked me at 300+hours in Dota 2.. in the end what for? what's the point? what do u gain from it? nothing... it affected my social life.. made me more lone-ranger type of guy and failure to respond correctly in social situations (with friends etc - dad already didn't taught me much so this worsen it). Only growing up I started to learn more by my own. Workplace taught me a lot about the reality of life.. and gaming is truly pointless anywhere in it.. just used to kill time and feed the dopamine addiction in your brain (search up how gaming and dopamine hormones co-relate and u'll understand). i'd rather they grow up.. become a successful person.. then they decide for themselves. Would hate if they'd end up like me, losing greater potential in what they could have become.. better they use all that time in school activities, studies, and building up their social skills. |

what your parents/sister didnt teach you is self control/discipline...
thats all... i also gaming since kid... my 1st owned PC was AMD K6 due to cemerlang in UPSR lol... and that was like nearly 18-19 years ago... but i dont have any problem with what you faced before... anything in this world if 'berlebihan' it will bring more cons than pros... i gave my 4 years old son a pc for himself as his birthday present... but he can only use it on a weekend with specific limited time... sometime he does merengek want to play games during weekdays... but no is a no... have to teach him discipline since young like what my parents did to me... i still remember what my father said... QUOTE(Davidtcf @ Feb 8 2015, 10:35 PM) It's true that if you have no self control, you will not do well in studies because of your gaming habits. If it isn't gaming it would be something else. At one point I think I spent most of my time in front of a PC not for gaming but more for MIRC chats. Gaming is just another activity that if not controlled or used with discipline, you will lose yourself to it due to it's addictive nature especially the online games. QUOTE(Darkz01 @ Feb 8 2015, 11:13 PM) Wah 4 years old get PC already? My daughter gonna be 4 this year as well. She is good in using tablets but not used to Keyboard and mouse yet. So far she likes to play Scribblenauts on PC so that is normally what I'll play with her. I don't think she will be ready for PC at least until she starts her primary school. I also agree that teaching control and discipline is more important. What we don't show or let them play, they will just get the same thing from outside our control like from their friends etc. Lots of parents don't allow their kids to use tablets but I really don't mind. I actually find they learn a lot from the games I install for them. My daughter learn her ABCs and 123 from tablet games. Her counting of objects, recognition of animals and food stuff are all from tablet apps. While educational books are also partly responsible, somehow tablets games are responsive to their actions and they can know if they are right or wrong. Unlike books which require us parents to tell them, tablets automatically read it out to them when they just touch it. It's really fantastic how much they can learn. |

QUOTE(Davidtcf @ Feb 8 2015, 10:35 PM) yes you do loose time on gaming while you can improve on your social skills and physical development, but most gamers like us know where to buy PC parts and assemble our own PC format and install OS. There are lots of games that are educational, like the total war series especially the realism mods they teach you about real history and what people from that age experience and went through where you can never get from books battle ships model, army formation, architecture models. Then for aircraft simulation games you get to experience driving different models of plances from fighter jets to commercial aircrafts, how much do you need to spend to actually get those experiences? Wow just found this thread. Father of 2 reporting in!
At the moment hooked up with Dying Light However not much time for gaming left. My schedule is packed! But last weekend got some free time so I managed to clock 12 hrs on Dying Light (played on Sat and Sun). Like some parents here, I also bought a PC for my son (7). We do some multiplayer gaming together. But not serious gaming, I don't even use my keyboard and mouse for gaming anymore and opted for gamepads nowdays. Main thing is to have fun |

I started gaming during this period...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_vi...E2.80.931986.29 My first 'home pc' experience (not mine, one of my 'richer' friend got one) where it looks like some sort of cassette recorder an hook it to TV and took about maybe 15-20 minutes to load. The early games I remember was Summer Olympic and Lode Runner. Of course my dad is 'rich' enough at that time to buy me a 'Game & Watch'. It's about saving people from fire by using trampolin or something. My first console game I guess. My son is 7 now but the only game he likes to play is that free Steam game Warthunder. Loves to fly airplane I guess. Ok lah. He only like to watch youtubes most of the time and play with Lego (actual one, not digital) |

Dunno where my younger brother got that games. All comes with disketts. I was in U at that time though can't afford my own pc so my gaming fix was in BB Plaza/Sungai Wang. Only in 98 I can afford my own PC. It was Pentium II (or III ?) 500 Mhz I think. That time playing AOE mostly. |

My wife now now love that I seldom go out anymore... I don't think we can or can't make kids addicted to gaming because at the end of the day it depends on whether they are interested in games. Like my son, he's a pc kid. Even if I give him tab or laptop to use he don't want. He's a mouse and keyboard kid, not like my 5 year old who's more into tabs and touch screens. In any case, the more kids are exposed to something then the more they wont get hooked (I think, just my own opinion and observation, no substantial research that I know of) rather than we shield them too much from something because they are at the curious age lot. If we stop them playing games at home for example then there's a possibility that they may sneak out to play games at cyber cafes (which is worse in my opinion). whatever happen kids usually will try to imitate us, so if you don't want to make kids addicted to gaming then don't show them that you're addicted. That's why now I only play games long hours after they sleep. |

another father reporting in...have a 1 year old son that sleep late at night around 12am...
started gaming when i was around 6-7 years old? using those mini-tablet game...the game concept is just going left right and making sure u catch all the falling down from the sky or something like that...lol then super genius came into the picture wif street fighter, ninja turtle, mario, etc real pc gaming only started at my early teenager years wif pentium 166mhz - CnC, KKND, Diablo, etc... touch a bit playstation1, gameboy, famicom or something like that... i guess my childhood gaming experience is much less the same like u guys... now as a working adult wif a once-casual-gamer-wife (whom i pulled her in during our dating times) and a hyperactive 1year old kid , my PC gaming session has been reduced tremendously...mostly bcoz my PC is my at mother house, while i'm now staying at my wife's parent house (long offtopic story) but are now awaiting for my new house to complete renovation...then hopefully i resume back my PC gaming life in full-throttle still every weekend i do visit my mum's house and get to play one-two hours before i dooze off on the seat... i guess my old age also partly affects my gaming session... other than that - i do have 3ds, psv, ipad, handphone to fulfill my gaming addiction... ohhh and i just bought a 960gpu, which i intend to install into my rig after moving into my new house and to enjoy witcher3 later on... anyway, in my new house i have dedicated a small private room just for my gaming session... my wife knows about it and doesnt make any noise about it...yet. really hoping my house to complete soon and i can move in and start gaming again....or not... and for my son - at the moment, he is grabbing every 'shiny' gadgets i hold in my hands...if he couldn't get it - he'll cry and yell... a problem i pray would not get worse as he gets older... QUOTE(fujkenasai @ Feb 10 2015, 05:23 PM) Darn you remind me of these games Woah this one I love a lot man..![]() First time played this on those arcade coin machine. Then after some time got hold of the PC version, but because my PC was so slow at that time it lags like snail Good to have thread like this, remembering the old times Anyway this thread started out with "how do you find time to game?". Let me share my experience lah.. I don't actually have much time to game anymore, the most I can spend is like an hour or two per day, that's in between my busy slots. On weekend if got time can stretch out a bit. Some gaming session in early morning (after prayer), then afternoon usually take family out for shopping and eating out and stuffs. Then at night after all done, gaming till 3am or so.. then sleep like a log Whatever it is, make priority for your family, wife and kids first. I told my wifey if there's anything just bug me even while gaming. We can even chit chat whilst I'm gaming. But I admit sometimes I didn't hear what she say, but just grab the key point and shoot like u know to keep the conversations going |

QUOTE(karwaidotnet @ Feb 10 2015, 03:52 PM) another father reporting in...have a 1 year old son that sleep late at night around 12am... why don't wanna quit completely till maybe kids are at college only resume gaming? is it so hard?started gaming when i was around 6-7 years old? using those mini-tablet game...the game concept is just going left right and making sure u catch all the falling down from the sky or something like that...lol then super genius came into the picture wif street fighter, ninja turtle, mario, etc real pc gaming only started at my early teenager years wif pentium 166mhz - CnC, KKND, Diablo, etc... touch a bit playstation1, gameboy, famicom or something like that... i guess my childhood gaming experience is much less the same like u guys... now as a working adult wif a once-casual-gamer-wife (whom i pulled her in during our dating times) and a hyperactive 1year old kid , my PC gaming session has been reduced tremendously...mostly bcoz my PC is my at mother house, while i'm now staying at my wife's parent house (long offtopic story) but are now awaiting for my new house to complete renovation...then hopefully i resume back my PC gaming life in full-throttle still every weekend i do visit my mum's house and get to play one-two hours before i dooze off on the seat... i guess my old age also partly affects my gaming session... other than that - i do have 3ds, psv, ipad, handphone to fulfill my gaming addiction... ohhh and i just bought a 960gpu, which i intend to install into my rig after moving into my new house and to enjoy witcher3 later on... anyway, in my new house i have dedicated a small private room just for my gaming session... my wife knows about it and doesnt make any noise about it...yet. really hoping my house to complete soon and i can move in and start gaming again....or not... and for my son - at the moment, he is grabbing every 'shiny' gadgets i hold in my hands...if he couldn't get it - he'll cry and yell... a problem i pray would not get worse as he gets older... i'm also worried end up can't quit later.. but i adi promise my wife (she totally anti gaming esp with hardcore desktop gaming type). have to keep to my words.. suffer time will commence that time.. |

Great to know that there's this thread. Have a few friends who's been dad but still Dota quite a lot. For myself, 2 boys now (5 and 3 this year) with another one coming in April.
For the past year or so consider alright as both can play on their own so minimal supervision needed. 5 year old now into Minecraft and play some Wii U with me sometimes. My 3 year old now just watch the older brother playing.... |

Funny things about old games (GOG and even Steam HD remastered) it never at least for me recaptured those magic moments again. I don't know why. I got a few like AOE and some others like JA2 which while I do enjoy it from time to time but it never get me hooked like last time. Maybe once after downloading then play for an hour or two then get bored. For oldies (or ancients) like us, the only enemy if time. Too many games and too little time. That's why I restrict myself to just a couple of games rather than buy everything even during Steam sales. |

Hi all.Never knew such thread exist..haha..
im in the same band wagon as all of you.Started picked up pc gaming back at early december as getting consistent invites from friend that still gaming tho already in their daddy-hoods. Thus burn cash in setting up a new rig for gaming purposes. My previous rig wasnt updated since 2009.Stop upgraded it once started with console gaming. Fast forward to the future now,we will have our gaming session ranging from 10pm till 2am..It will be either bf3/cs:go/dota(im not into it,so just watch it for fun)..Chatting crap thru steam chat while gaming, laughing like nobody business altho its already past 12am..Now my sleep time at night is about from 4am till 7am only everyday.. The best part of all,our wives had gang-up within their whatsapp chat and tried some psychological war with some of us..The silent treatment, the whats your daddy doing talk to our child, the sudden disconnection due to LAN cable being unplugged or the wifi router suddenly restarted by itself. And yeah, all of us are in our late 20's on going to 3 series next year..With either 1 or 2 kids at the moment..The oldest is 3 years old |

QUOTE(aliesterfiend @ Feb 11 2015, 04:59 PM) Funny things about old games (GOG and even Steam HD remastered) it never at least for me recaptured those magic moments again. I don't know why. I got a few like AOE and some others like JA2 which while I do enjoy it from time to time but it never get me hooked like last time. Maybe once after downloading then play for an hour or two then get bored. For oldies (or ancients) like us, the only enemy if time. Too many games and too little time. same here got money but no time |

Gong Xi Fa Chai to all the parents who celebrate CNY...
i managed to spent few hours on my PC last weekend. but when i revisit back some of the old games like TorchLight2, i feel like i lost touch of it...i forgot why i spent skill points of those skills...or where should i spent my next skill points to.... and when i play Skyrim - i feel like i need to spent a good half day to really immerse myself into it...same goes for Divine Divinity... sigh....cant wait to move to my new house...where i should be able to spend longer time to immerse myself into all my long abandon game... |

I remember last time I played it, I realised so hard to re-learn RTS coz it's in 3D environment. But after a few missions, got used to it already.i will grab homeworld remastered when its on sale one day and check out the story! i sure will play the easiest difficulty one one! |

Planning to sell that and get maybe 770/960 or some R9 (270 or 280 maybe). But then I thought the 260x was actually competent for 1920x1080 at least. |

QUOTE(aliesterfiend @ Mar 17 2015, 09:33 AM) Because now my monitor is 1920 x 1080 now you make me contended with my 670gtx since i can load all games in 1920X1080, was thinking of 4k for homeworld remastered but then again the mon and gpu cost...If I can sell that for at least 350 (I'm targeting 400, new card cost around 479 now though I bought only for 415) so I can top up a bit and get 700-800 range GPU (that 960 looks interesting). I have no problems with any games with my 670 but guess now there are better options |

Want to swap ? Don't get me wrong. 260x can load all games (new games la) fine in 1920X1080. It's just that coming from 1600x900 it feels like I'm using HD5770 all over again. I have no problems with any games with my 670 but guess now there are better options Maybe I'll try to play games using 1600x900 and see how it goes. |

My rig is already 3 years plus I think. Wait until Steam OS come out then make that one pure gaming pc. Current pc officially hand over to my son lah. |

Reporting in as a father to one adorable daughter!
As a father, the biggest change that I experienced so far is I am no longer interested in MMO. This type of game require a lot of dedication and in some cases, very time consuming. So, I try very hard not to be involved in any of it but sometimes, I can't resist the temptation, especially when new MMO was released. But then, even when I started to play the newly released MMO, it usually doesn't last long since my mind will always go back thinking about my daughter's activity. Secondly, my daughter is emotionally very flexible. She is close to both me and my wife, although in most of the cases, she prefer me than her mom. This flexibility do offer me some 'extra' gaming time whenever she happen to be with her mom rather than me. Last but not least, I am pretty much used to be having to babysit my daughter while gaming. I can even play some games with her sitting on my lap. Sometimes she do share the same earphone that I use while gaming. I think I am kinda successful in making her become a 'gamer' kid. She had her own ipad and she learn pretty fast playing some new games that I downloaded for her. Papa loves you Dania! Attached thumbnail(s) |

I remember my Windows Surface RT the whole screen cracked. Unable to repair. Sakit hati. Bought a new one.My wife phone also so many times jatuh already. Replace screen 3 times already so far. Twice for iPhone and once for S4. Luckily my Samsung S2 damn tough, survived all drops so far. Nowadays not bothered with expensive phone since my daughter likes to mess with it. So beli Xiaomi dah la cukup. |

Nowadays most if not all teacher already know. It's the parents who don't know and leave all up to teachers.
Since my son condition is pretty mild (less hyperactive especially in front of pc) the child specialist even suggest to send to normal school rather than special school. Of course still have the short attention span issue but at least want to do homework etc. Cannot read yet but can write properly la now not like greek alphabet anymore. I wont say exposing children to gadgets is totally bad, certainly not cause dyslexia . My daughter (going to be 5 now) can recognized letters since early 3 y/o already, watching all those ABC songs and Barneys on you tubes. Of course gadgets can't replace parenthood. As long as we lay down the limit in the beginning should be no issue. Last time my daughter want to watch tab sampai habis bateri so what we did was make sure the tab is not fully charged when giving her the tab at night. Haha relax boys, having kids is not the end of gaming. I'm a father of 3 girls. 5, 3 and my latest one is 2 months old and I still play game. It's all about how sneaky you are to steal some gaming time hahahaha. On a serious note, it's all about good time management as well as financial. No more buying on impulse on every new games unless you are sure you are going to play it, why buy at full price when at the end of the day you still end up spending more time playing Dota or worse clash or clan

^ true dat... im also father of 3 (2 boys, 1 girl) 4, 3 and latest one is 3 months old. still active in gaming... married and kids is not the end of your gaming era... what soul_fly9900 said is true... yang penting adalah time management... if you cant manage your time then bye bye games lol. i started using steam after married... doesnt stop me from buying n play games... now i already have more than 400 games... but my total gameplay time of my library is only 1000 plus hours only lol... 1892 hours to be exact... compared to my friends mostly single or baru kawin <1 years old they have less games than me but their total gameplay time average over 4000 hours gameplay time. |

I have 1 son(9 years) and 2 daughters (7 years and 1 years). I stop playing competitively. I only play cooperative games. Usually, after my kids go to bed at 930, I play games with my wife. We play a lot of games. Trying to find the games that both of us enjoy. Games that can feed us our much needed adrenaline rush. Games that requires us to truly work together to survive. A lot of games that we try are doozy, boring and both of us cant stand playing it for a period of time.
Here are the list of games that i remember having fond memories 1. Call of duty zombies. We play every call of duty that has zombie mode. EVERY. 2. Call of duty survival mode. MW3, Ghost, AW have survival modes. 3. Dungeon defenders 4. Orcs must die 5. Starcraft 2 |

Necro-ed.
Choice of games have definitely changed over the years, currently I find Hearthstone suitable to juggle around family time. |

It's ok o necro this post once in a while. Looking back to my original post here:
QUOTE(frags @ Feb 3 2015, 05:06 PM) I'm a dad. My son is going to be 4 months old soon. Yes... he wants lots of attention, but I do my gaming at night. I get my time when he's sleeping or my wife is with him. It's even more difficult for me since I actually run a video game blog and I have a tonne of games to play for review. Well my son is 4 and he has a 1 year old sister now. I'm still writing about games and have even less time I try my best to get in one hour a day, of games I'm reviewing and weekends I play longer. But I always have time for my son. So much so, my wife thinks I'm spoiling him by carrying him too much or playing with him too much Also... congratulations Deimos |
