German 214 too small, then they come out Type 216 4000 tons design than propose to OZ .... but it still just a paper spec .... however Soryu already use in Japan Self defense navy,  mature and proven.

RMN navy no mater how they need/face to use gas turbine if buy big ship like over 6000 tons. unless they still keep small ship.
gas turbine can provide a lot more power to ship.

The French also have a large conventional submarine design on the drawing board, the SMX Ocean. The problem is, this large SSK is quite expensive. Almost as expensive as the nuc. Small country will not be able to afford it, while rich country will most likely choose nuclear sub.

not only that big submarine need deep and big sea to help them hide...
than our water just very Shallow water like at South china sea and selat melaka

I don't think the size really matters. Virginia Class is far bigger than our scorpene and yet it is quite capable of littoral operation.

low moral and no reason to fight... strong countries are back by strong gov and believe whether it comes from brainwashing or an ideal.. iraq also have sectarian divide... iran worships ayatollah, north korea with kim... as for vietnam, it wasnt really an ideology war unlike in china's civil war... it was viewed as a foreign invasion
i think the agreement was US to leave former warsaw nations n bordering countries alone.. instead US want to build d missile shield at russia's backyard... it would be the same as the cuban missile crisis
*
Believe it or not, those Arab leaders deliberately keep their army in that condition. They are more afraid of a military coup than a foreign invasion. Rumor has it, the reason Sadat was assassinated was because he sabotaged his own army in 1972 war. He was jealous that the Generals gain more popularity than he is.

Attack heli currently is much deadlier with the support of uav.
new development of synthetic aperture radar, mildar and ncw really hard to escape from attack heli.
Even T-129 have mildar.
Tiger really lagging behind.

And modern heli borne ATGM are fire and forget nowadays. So they pop up, fire their missile and then duck down before nayone know they're there.

Is it possible for us to create a Joint Operational Area in the border area between Sabah and Philipines? Several area like Sibutu Islands, Bongao Island, Jolo islands on Philipines side, and Lahad Datu, Semporna and part of sandakan in Eastern Sabah will be a joint patrol area. In this region, Malaysian and Philipines security forces can move freely without the need for further authorization from their respective government. Security forces on both side can cross the border to pursue suspect or conduct an operation.

Lelong: Soviet-era tank anyone? Serbia auctions off army surplus

The Serbian army on Monday (Feb 9) announced a fire sale of military surplus, including a fleet of Soviet-era tanks and thousands of rocket launchers, in order to raise funds for new equipment.

BELGRADE: The Serbian army on Monday (Feb 9) announced a fire sale of military surplus, including a fleet of Soviet-era tanks and thousands of rocket launchers, in order to raise funds for new equipment.

The defence ministry in Belgrade launched the tender to sell 282 T-55 tanks, 68 armoured personnel carriers and 1,283 guns of different types and calibre to raise money "exclusively for development, research and purchase of modern weapons."

But not any weekend enthusiast hankering to create a garage arsenal overnight will be able to bid for material on the block. "Companies licensed for arms trade can contact the ministry to obtain information on the status of weapons that are for sale," the ministry noted in a statement published on its website.

Also listed for sale to arms professionals are 16,780 pistols, 3,500 automatic rifles, 5,200 rocket launchers, more than 115,000 7.6 millimetre and 12.7 millimetre bullets and 120,000 rifle grenades.

The military did not put a value on the weaponry nor say how much it hoped to raise in the auction. The novel bid to raise funding for upgrading Serbia's arsenal is the latest in a series of moves to modernise the nation's army.

The Balkans country abolished compulsory military service in 2011. The transition to a fully professional army of 30,000 troops ended a long tradition of compulsory service, which was very popular until the 1990s wars that tore the former Yugoslavia apart.

In 2006, Serbia joined NATO's Partnership for Peace (PfP) cooperation and security programme, and despite maintaining close ties to Russia, adopted a policy of military neutrality the following year.

Why not we buy 100 of them and turn it into an APC like the BTR-T

good things,, we now know it wont be a air defence system purchased from china  nod.gif
mana ada.. T90 look slanted because of it era bricks.. it actual unprotected turret look more hemispherical
even with slanted up, all tank still vulnerable to top attack

Plus with high density KE penetrator, any turret now can mostly go through  laugh.gif
active protection system is the way to go..

inb4 yinchet say type 10 is better than k2  tongue.gif
*
Active protection won't be able to stop a KE penetrator. But reactive armor can. US and Germany once tested a Kontakt 5 ERA installed on a T-72. The ERA was able to stop the US M829 sabot round fired at point blank range.

They captured the president last month and put him in house arrest. They then dissolved parliament last week and named Ali Al-Houthi as chairman of revolutionary committee.

But then again word has it that some parties (mostly Sunni politicians) are attempting to organize a counter-revolution, so we could be in this for the long haul. What I'm interested in is how would the new Saudi King is going to do about this?
*
If we want to foment chaos, then we should help the counter-revolution. If we want stability, then we should engage them constructively and help suppress the counter-revolution.

i'm talking about trained pilots..that could provide air support/air strikes for ISIS..the articles said ISIS are training the pilots to become kamikaze pilots..what a waste of pilots and jets if they do just that..
*
With 3 jets and with almost no possibility of getting spare parts and weapons for it, i doubt they can operate this jet other than being a kamikaze plane.

I think t84 oplot m oso quite fit the bill plus got good electronics and aps and atgm
T90 bhishma oso looking good as well
Pt-91m seems a bit lacking unless we fit active protection to it
Overall my fav is pt-91m with leds aps (would be nice if we could at least assemble it brows.gif)
*
PT-91 is fine for now. We just need the heavier ERA. The ERAWA maybe fine againt HEAT, but i have doubt about it's capability against APFSDS.

In the past Pinoy have a ridiculously strong Naval and Air force, not to mention they have hundreds of light and Medium tanks too like Sherman, Chaffee, Walker Bulldog, Scorpion and hundreds APC/IFV like Cage Cadillac Commando and M113 since 67-77 era

just how low they have fallen today
*
Philippines army back then was the extension of US army. When the Philippines generals need something, they just called pentagon and it'll be promptly delivered free of charge. When US withdraw, they suddenly found out how costly and complicated it is to supply and equipped a modern army.

Since their big Military purchases, they've been going around slapping their d**k on everyone's face. Last year alone their SU-30 have gone up and intercepted 3 aircraft in a space of 2 months.

We should insist on France to transfer the full technology of Mirage 2000 including the entire production tooling to Malaysia.
