ASN declares dividend for FY09

KUALA LUMPUR: Unit trust operator Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASN) announced Tuesday an income distribution of 6.25 sen per unit for Amanah Saham Malaysia unit holders.

The dividend announcement was for the financial year ending March 31, 2009 (FY09).

According to Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) president and chief executive officer Tan Sri Hamad Kama Piah, the dividend was the lowest ever declared by ASN.

He said the income distribution was equivalent to RM407.58 million.

PNB is the parent company of ASN.

Hamad said this payment would benefit 402,513 unit holders who have subscribed to 7.21 billion units of ASM.

Commenting on the dividend payout, he said ASN has the capacity to pay 7.92 sen per unit of dividend but chose to retain cash for investment opportunities in the new FY.

On the trends of the local bourse, Hamad said that would depend very much on external factors.

it's impossible to 'trade' your units. As soon as you sell your units, some other people in malaysia would snap it up. There are people in the industry checking the system every minute to look for new units you know.

I think you have to. Because it's different. The passbook is different too. For ASB it's blue color (was orange color many years ago with the coin 50 cents on the cover), ASM it's gold color and ASW2020 is ... erm ... not too sure as i don't have ASW2020. Going to apply for one very soon though.

Just wondering... I opened the ASW2020 and ASM accounts late last year. Went and deposited some $$$ into ASW this morning so obviously got my passbook updated. However, there's no dividend/interest payment shown. Should that be the case? I thought dividend/interest was declared? Shouldn't it be reflected in my account?

i just got a statement from ASNB.. i invested 3k during last year ASM's opening, passbook is gold color.

am confused about the interest rate.. 6.25% is the return rate right..?
however, it stated there I only earn 62.50, isn't it suppose to be x3?
my total now is RM3062.50... please enlighten me.. TQ

I just got news that July 20th is deadline for indian to take ASM...after this date, everyone can take everyone one..
