2 doors coupe will be applied higher import tax than 4-door sedan (mondeo), no?

look at Fiesta ST pricing here,
it's cheaper than Peugeot 208 GTi everywhere in the world except Malaysia

The thing about 2 door coupe has higher import tax than 4 door sedan is a complete bullcrap.

I cannot find a single concrete info that suggest otherwise.

Sedan, wagon, sport car & race car (I'm not making this up) as stated by MAA is all lump into the same tax & duty import structure.

Car pricing in Malaysia is an anomaly that no one can explain.

It's either MITI dictate the pricing of the car after tax applied or distributor set the price because they can.

This car won't be cheaper than RM300k. When it comes to paying road tax and insurance, it's already close to RM20k. Perhaps you don't need to have a monthly salary of RM60,000 to own the car. Maybe a salary of around RM40,000 would do. But then, assuming you don't have other commitments and stuff. Though folks who drive these cars would usually have plenty of money in the bank.
