the reason behind the HATE wireless by gamers, is the perception or believe that anything not wired will have a slower response time, how ever good the mouse is. Which is rather true when playing games

just adding up to why people need or buy this gaming mouse.....

Quoted from a site...

Dots Per Inch (DPI): This term originated in the world of printers. Some companies use the term "counts per inch" instead, which is probably more accurate, but the two terms are interchangeable when it comes to mice. What it refers to is the fact that modern optical or laser mice use sensors that take an incredibly large number of pictures of the mousing surface underneath the mouse as it's moved; the comparisons between these pictures will let the mouse know in which direction it's moving and how quickly. A higher dpi setting will enable greater precision in your mouse and will also let you move the mouse cursor more quickly without moving the actual mouse a large distance.

If a mouse is rated at 400dpi, for instance, moving it one inch will cause the sensor to register 400 images, which will in turn move the mouse cursor 400 pixels across your screen. Turning that same mouse up to 4,000 dpi will increase the number of images and in turn move the mouse 4,000 pixels across the screen.

Although early optical mice featured maximum settings of around 400 or 800 dots per inch, most current gaming mice will feature dpi settings of 3,200 or more. While higher is usually better, you're not going to want to set your default dpi too high; anything above 2,000 or so will make your cursor move very quickly based on small inputs, which makes precision control rather difficult. (Many professional Counter-Strike gamers will use dpi settings of between 400 and 800 to ensure maximum precision with ranged weapons, for instance.)

All of the gaming mice that feature on-the-fly dpi switching, allowing you to flip a switch on the mouse to alternate between various dpi settings. For FPS games, you usually want to have a high dpi setting for using assault rifles or submachine guns, since they're used at close range and you'll need to track fast-moving targets. If you use sniper rifles, though, your targets are going to be farther away and probably moving less quickly across your screen; a low dpi setting will let you increase your precision and move the mouse less while you line up your shot.

p/s: though it doesnt go to all gaming mouse. but it is to mine as mine do have on-the-fly switch as well.....

have been using the a4ftech X7 for a few years now never had a problem. But last 2 back just got myself a new logi G9 coz wanted an upgrade and use the X7 on my lappie.

As for these 2 days of usage it has been rather well. Nicely put indeed. The 4 option for dpi change on the mouse itself is a great plus for me. An added bonus for me is the wheel roller which can be changed from normal clicking sound to scroll to a noiseless scroll option.

As far as grip is concerned. The 2 types of grips given is not much of a gain. But both are just as good to use for me. One a softer rubber type and the other kinda of a grain touch feel.

The addition to put weight on the mouse like the G5 oso is not bad. It does smoothen my moving of the mouse. So depends one each person preference on how much movement youd like. U can adjust to suit ur needs.

All in all i can say this G9 is one hell of a kick ass mouse. Though price is of a concern to anyone who want to get one. Hence is not everyone cup of tea. Hey its not the end of the world rite. The logi G5 or a4tech X7 or the razer models do come in good review as well from my reading and own experience.

p/s: if ur the kinda who wanna bling2 mouse type the G9 oso might not be ur choice. But i can say it treally doesnt look that bad in real life usage

yea..but gaming mate..its not suitable i tink..at least for me thou..

yup true. but this is the time where the interchangele DPI mouse shine. having the capabilit to change just with a click on the mouse comes reall handy during this times.

QUOTE(mADmAN @ Sep 19 2008, 01:18 PM)
true....but still depends on ur comfort level with the DPI...

im running dual monitors in the office (though only 17") and im only using about 800 or 1k DPI (cant remember which) all the time...feel weird if its any higher or lower..
heheh try runnnin aroun 19 each or like me 22+19. Just my opinion its much nicer with higher DPI. andmy G9 does allow 5 options HAHAHAHA laugh.gif

no it isnt. Though if if ur the type who like to have ur whole hand on the body of the mouse than this mouse would not be for you. Possibly the reason why ur saying it is small...........

its not that big(meaning width wise) if u use the dry/hard grip cover. Both cover however comes at almost same length. Thus if ur the palmer type as said by casanova than it might not suit u.

This is base on my experience/opinion using my G9

so i tink i can take out all the weights as i tink weights are not needed..light weight mouse is the best as a small stroke can move a large distance.
*
well if ur looking at the G9 the high interchangeable dpi helps. So weight doesnt matter anyway as the dpi will already allow small stroke large distance.

u were rite last time madman. THe wording on the G9 on the back does fade of after time. And thers like a skin layer thats coming off a bit off its body. However that was for the soft cover only, The hard cover seems not to have any problem so far............
